With relegation almost a certainty, who stays and who goes?
hypochondriac replied to davefoggy's topic in The Saints
I'd say West brom were undoubtedly worse than us and seemingly Swansea are too. I'd back us to finish above Newcastle at the moment too so that's at least three below us. -
Probably not. I expect if I cared enough to actually look at this outrage the majority of people moaning would be white.
-
I think regardless of the rights and wrongs of dressing up like that- personally I think it's fine- he must have known what the social media response was going to be and so it's entirely his own fault if he is now getting a backlash. You have to pick your battles with this type of manufactured outrage and I really don't think dressing up as a black man is the hill you should be choosing to die on.

Indeed. You and others like you are the worst culprits.

Pellegrino 1 Puel 4 - Post match Meltdown

It would require us losing our next two. Even then it's still an overreaction to say we are going to get relegated. We aren't in the same situation as Swansea for example. I think we won't be far off the relegation zone this year but we have improved performance wise over the last few weeks to make me confident that we can scrape enough points to get by. Ideally I'd like a change of manager though during that period so we have something to feel hopeful about. -

Bit of an overreaction. I reckon at the moment, Huddersfield, Swansea, Newcastle and West brom are bigger contenders for the drop than us. That could change of course- the Huddersfield game will tell us a lot but that will probably be a draw. Not a time to talk about certain relegation just yet but if I were the club I'd look to make a change if we are hovering around the drop zone about Christmas. -
If it comes to it then we have a potentially crucial run of fixtures in February and March that could decide our season. In my opinion I would look to bring in a new manager for January and then really attack those months to get us clear of danger.

You're a bit of a weirdo. -
I think if we lose to Chelsea then the Huddersfield game became massive. Lose that and he's gone.
-
The pr guff from the club makes me feel sick.
-
To be fair I thought Leicester were excellent. We were poor but I think they made us look worse.
-
Absolutely this. Huddersfield now a massive game like Everton was. Lose to Chelsea abd them and I don't see how he can stay.
-
I still feel that he never got a proper crack here. I would have liked to see him have a run of games to see what he was truly capable of, rather like we have given boufal this season.
-
Redmond over boufal is mad
-
I thought pied did well in the last game. No lemina and Stephens in after jot even being in the squad is just bizarre. I hope we get a result today or I'll move back into questioning the suitability of the manager again.
-
Very much disagree. We will see if he gets in I suppose.

Almost all of the noises coming from his party suggests not.

So from those articles we know that he reportedly chanted f*ck off you c*nts- aggressive certainly and maybe not advisable in the current climate but not homophobic. We then have the Echo who says that they consider "does your boyfriend know you're here" to be tantamount to foul mouthed abuse. I'd love to see what the other example is in to form a proper judgement, but given that this is the level that the Echo considers to be "foul mouthed abuse" then the suspicion is that it is extremely mild and not homophobic at all. Happy to be proven wrong should more facts come to light but as the Echo either didn't bother to print what else he said or- most likely- didn't know what else he had chanted it seems unlikely that we will find out.
-
Where is the evidence that what he sang was more offensive than that? I can't see any. Again, if the echo knew what was chanted then they would have said so or at least written an approximation of it.
-
Imo the most likely scenario is the worst one- corbyn gets in, concedes to everything and then "leaves" the EU whilst staying in customs union and the single market whilst having no voting rights and paying 50 billion for nothing. All whilst racking up debts.
-
Lemina has to start.
-
If he sung something offensive then it may be that he deserved a three year ban but the example used in the article was "does your boyfriend know you're here." presumably if they knew he sung something worse then they would have printed that. Most of the comment on here about how disgraceful and disgusting these comments are and how it amounts to hate speech and prejudice I imagine are talking about some imagined slur of which we have no knowledge. Of it later comes to light that he was singing something fill of hate filled rhetoric than clearly that changes things but from what we know now it's an absurd overreaction.
-
I assume you mean something along similar lines such as "does your imam know you're here?" If so then yes. Offensive chanting about being a Muslim is clearly very different and should obviously be banned in the same way that homophobic chants should.
-
I can confidently say that football should never be for types like you who work themselves up into an absolute state about some morons singing an unfunny chant about the population of a city. If you're genuinely as upset as you seem over something so minor then he's absolutely right- you appear much too sensitive to subject yourself to the torment of a live football match. In fact, if I were you I'd probably steer clear of the majority of social interactions to avoid any sort of offence.
-
Not giving a sh*t about some generic and boring song isn't a disgraceful attitude, but suggesting that singing does your boyfriend know you're here is tantamount to hate speech absolutely is. I've often attended football with a mate of mine who's gay. I just asked him what he thought of those chants and his response was as I expected- he couldn't care less about rubbish like that unless it is some offensive slur aimed at him personally. The vast majority of people don't tend to overreact and call for three year banning orders for a generic chant aimed at a rival city though. I assume you were calling for similar bans when that ji sung park song was being sung by United fans a few years back?
