It's all too easy though to dismiss opponents as brainwashed sheep simply because they aren't a fan of a political party. Much easier to dismiss the obvious deficiencies of May or Corbyn as delusional rantings of the opposition, hopelessly suckered by the Guardian or the Daily Mail than thinking the other side may actually have a point...
-
I do think some of the media make up silly smears about corbyn which only backfires. The facts are concerning enough on their own without having to resort to exaggerations and falsehoods. I'm certainly not any more anti corbyn because of some falsehoods in the media.

Terrorist Attacks - WARNING: CONTAINS DISTRESSING IMAGES
hypochondriac replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
In the last 15 years who has been more successful at carrying out terrorist attacks in the UK? The far right or Islamic terrorists? Of course foiled Islamic terror plots are going to garner more headlines than other forms of attempted terrorism given the loss of life from the London bombings, Manchester bombings, knifings etc etc. -
Terrorist Attacks - WARNING: CONTAINS DISTRESSING IMAGES
hypochondriac replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
Interesting of the BBC to go with that headline considering the ten Islamist threats foiled last year abd mentioned in the same article. An alternative slant could be: "Hard right extremism statistically less than half as threatening as radical Islamic terrorism." Both should be condemned of course but its telling that the hard right statistic is the one the BBC chooses to focus on. -
And yet the proliferation of the Internet means its easier than ever to find varied points of view about virtually every single issue. I can't speak for others but I certainly don't take pieces from the mail, guardian, mirror or telegraph as Gospel. Increasingly more people from all sides of the political spectrum are turning their backs on the traditional media, its certainly not the case that the majority blindly parrot mainstream media opinion just because the Daily Mail calls Corbyn a twerp or the Guardian calls May incompetent. I think much of the public are perfectly capable of listening to them and coming up with those opinions entirely unaided. Both Conservative and Labour supporters may like to pretend it's all the evil mainstream media but the truth is that both major party political leaders are about as inspiring as damp rags slightly less appealing to the less partisan majority who aren't affiliated to either.
-
Or based on their own judgements about the competence of party leaders. Interesting that it's only when voters decide not to back a candidate that someone favours that they start shouting about that nefarious media influencing how people vote. It couldn't possibly be that they decided someone wasn't worth voting for of their own accord.

Good luck with that. Imagine the reaction when millions have been ignored.

2 x Michael McIntyre Tickets Bournemouth 18th March

Will you be paying me to take them? -
They'll just say whatever their party tells them to say at the time and people wonder why no one trusts politicians. Politics of conviction doesn't exist anymore. I know a Labour politician who despised corbyn and then after his relatively good election result he couldn't get enough of him. Absolutely spineless.

Let's see what the shadow trade secretary has to say:
-
No I think they go on that we have a stronger squad than our position and performances suggest. In other words, our squad is capable of better than they have given us.
-
If we are piggybacking on existing and future EU trade deals then how are they going to allow us to do that and not insist that we follow the same laws as well?
-
Does the Barnes goal on Saturday count in that stat?
-
It's a pretty accurate stat I would say. This season is frustrating partly because we don't look completely useless. If we were really poor quality like a Derby for example and were just getting laid siege to every game than you can resign yourself to it and just accept that you weren't good enough. It's worse with saints at the moment because we don't actually give away that many chances for a team virtually in the relegation zone, it's just that the few that we do give away usually results in a goal. There haven't been that many games this season where I think we have been really battered (Leicester at home springs to mind), it's really been a slow death where the opposition nicks a goal and we have subsequently played like we are in a training match without any sign of getting back into things. That's primarily why people have been calling for a change of manager because we do look vaguely competent which makes you believe that a manager setting us up differently would cause an upturn in results (watch us not get near Saturdays finishing team again now- Gabbi only got on the pitch because Long is injured!)
-
They also mentioned during the game on Saturday that we gave the opposition a very high amount of meaningful chances (not sure what they count as meaningful.) I'm sure this would contrast strongly with our previous teams who I am sure would have been extremely miserly in terms or giving chances away- which is why Forster looks so good.
-
It's probably the preferred option for the EU- essentially stay in the customs union where we have to follow EU laws but have no say in them. Probably have to pay a chunk of cash for the privilege too. Essentially if that's the Labour option then we are better off staying in.
-
That could be scarily accurate...

He's still a rubbish manager who deserves to be fired. We were dire for about 90% of the game today and if we manage to stay up it certainly won't be because of any accomplishment of the manager. -

A very very fortunate draw there. Offered virtually nothing all game. Gabbi and sims should be playing all the time. -

Awful again. Should have sacked this manager months ago. -
And do you not think that after the mid term elections Congress will be blocking everything that trump proposes? The whole system is crazy.
