Couldn't give a toss about either to be perfectly honest. I certainly don't see it as offensive any more than I would do any other place of worship being built on my road. Freedom of religion is one of the things I love about this country. Britain has always been about a mix of different cultures and influences, it's one of the reason we have been so successful historically. Halal means nothing to me, it's still meat and tastes just the same as non Halal. I've never shopped at the car phone warehouse but that doesn't mean I have a problem with its existence.
Maybe if you got to know some Muslims you would feel less threatened by them? The vast majority I would suspect would be extremely hospitable and open to other cultures. That is certainly my experience, things like "England is my country, I love it, I have raised my family here and I would die for it." that's from an Iraqi I spoke to last week who has been here since 1972 and I know that many others feel exactly the same.
