  14. The chairman of Swansea City has told Saints that his club will not be held to ransom in its bid to sign Nathan Dyer. Swansea are not prepared to pay more than £500,000 for the flying winger, but Saints are unwilling to sell at that price. Dyer has helped Swansea to five successive wins since joining three weeks ago, but new Saints boss Mark Wotte wants him back at St Mary’s when his loan expires at the end of the season. The 21-year-old is the only player Saints have received an offer for during the transfer window and Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins is unlikely to improve it. "I don't like to be pushed into a corner," he explained, "and the fact that the transfer window is about to close means there is not much room for negotiation. "You don't want to be in a position where there's a gun held to your head and I can tell you that if a deal is not right for Swansea City, it will not happen. "We explore every possibility and we look at every situation, but these things have to be done on our terms." Despite being in regular discussion with Saints chairman Rupert Lowe over Dyer, Jenkins is no closer to an agreement. He continued: “Nathan has come to us on loan and done quite well and he suits the way we play. But at the same time he hasn't played a lot of football recently, so it's not easy to place a value on someone like that. "We have our valuation, though, and there is no way we are going to suddenly change our mind and say 'Let's gamble and see what happens'. "We are still hopeful that something could happen but there will have to be a change at their end. If there isn't, we'll wait until the summer and see where we are then." After ten-man Saints drew with a Dyer-less Swansea at St Mary’s on Saturday, new boss Mark Wotte said: "It was on my advice that we gave Nathan a three-year contract last summer. "I worked a lot with him in the reserves and, though he had a bad period in his life, I was very confident in the boy. He went on loan to Sheffield United, which wasn't the best decision, but now he is doing very well at Swansea and as far as I'm concerned we will use him again next season. "Nathan can be a world-class player like Theo Walcott or Aaron Lennon. He has the same potential I think, so we will not sell him on the cheap. "My advice to the board will be to keep him and his contract is not a problem for us. It's pretty good. "But if there's a bid for a lot of money probably this club needs money so we might sell him
  15. Southampton head coach Mark Wotte has said he has rejected several offers for some of his players. Midfielder Andrew Surman, striker Adam Lallana and goalkeeper Kelvin Davis have all been linked with moves away from the St Mary's Stadium. Wotte told BBC Radio Solent: "We had a couple of bids but for ridiculously low money. We're not that desperate, to sell for peanuts." Wotte has declined to reveal details of the bids or players involved. "Maybe for ridiculous money you have to sell someone but not because other clubs think you have financial problems," Wotte added. "It's not important which clubs were involved, or which players, but we won't be selling any of our best players for that kind of money." Wotte also confirmed midfielder Rudi Skacel has turned down a six-month loan move to a German club. "Rudi wanted a longer deal from the club he was talking to," he said. "I've said to him he's welcome to stay and become a squad member again but only if he puts all of this transfer talk out of his head
  16. min temp for St Marys Tuesday night (and guess that middle of the night) is 3 degrees -can't see any reason should be in doubt if forecasts are right! http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml?id=3471
