I think what he did he was enough to suggest he would have done a good job here. Seems decent guy as well, and done well since - just think he was more potential rather than achiever when here. Personally think NA Better
-
think some personality issues effecting the Hoddle rating!
-
just don't quite get the level that some put Pearson at. Was gutted when he left and reckon we would have done well if we had kept him for a few years but it was hardly the great escape!
-
1) Hoddle 2) Strachen 3) Adkins 4) Pardew 5) Ball I think
-
you have a point there!

As the season concludes we have had 20 managers over the last 20 seasons. What order would you rate them? For how they did for us only (not other clubs before after, how they left etc) Maybe top 5 in order, worst 5 There are Branfoot Ball Merrington Souness Jones Hoddle Gray Strachen Wigley Sturrock Wigley (ok 19!) Rednapp Burley Gorman Pearson Poortvliet Wotte Pardew Wilkins Adkins

Nigel Pearson joined saints with us in 18th, 4 places and 6 points above relegation. He finished the season in 20th, 2 places and 2 points above relegation. Nigel Adkins joined saints with us in 22nd, 6 points off 7th, 8 points off 2nd. He finished the season in 2nd, at the moment 22 points clear of 7th. different times, different circumstances but Adkins looks to be the better manager for us to me. I am hopeful that he will be our best manager in last 20 years (there have been 21 in that time! Think with the poor competition he is already pretty high on the list!)

much as I hate to see people missing out, but isn't it great to see this demand for saints tickets for a league 1 game against Walsall!
-
read my post more carefully. Pearson was here for 5 minutes and got something like 2 or 3 wins. We stayed up. Wish he had been given a chance but who knows how well he would have done. Adkins has evidenced 100x more management ability for us in a very effective season. Maybe Pearson could have done if he had the chance, but he didn't. Adkins has done a hell of a lot more for us
-
based on what I have seen from both managers and that Pearson was only here about 10 weeks or something
-
Wish Pearson had been given a chance but Adkins has been head and shoulders better for us
-
can't you phone up then claim on Sun?
-
voted Huddersfield as one I have some respect for, but cherries would make for 2 easier games
-
quick sale of Ox-C if he is going.
-
If my earlier prediction of 2nd proves wrong, and we end up in the play offs I will leave this forum in shame.
-
nice knowing promoted already rather than play offs. In a good position for players whose contracts run out
-
god knows the columns aren't lining up for my eyes now! http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/FixturesResults/0,,10280,00.html perhaps should have stuck with we haven't let many in!

he wasn't sacked in summer - which is what the rumours were. he was sacked due to something early season think that is pretty obvious isn't it -
I wasn't quite right on this thread but its..

Adkins had easy job: "If you look at Southampton, they were the bankers to win the league, but they haven't, even with the finances that they have at their disposal, their ground and their fan base. "It doesn't matter how much money you pump in; it's just as important that everything works in the right way and we are very pleased that it worked for us at this club - and the reason it has is down to Gus's organisation and way of doing things. "For me there is a marked difference with Gus. Lee Clark at Huddersfield and Nigel Adkins at Southampton are both very good managers - but for me Gus is ahead of them, and up there with the best that there are in this country and abroad. "I believe I could of walked into Southampton and got them promoted with what is there. I genuinely believe I could have done that - but I don't know if I could have done it here, and Gus has made it look easy when in truth it isn't." http://www.seagulls.co.uk/page/Latest/0,,10433~2353554,00.html

I saw hundred tickets go with handful of people at ticket office today, heard few people going. I am taking my kids who don't normally go
-
surely someone on here hasn't got tickets yet and can add a few?

just noticed, in 18 home games since Adkins arrived we have only let in 7 goals, Oldham 2-1, Peterborough 4-1, Swindon 4-1, Mk 3-2, Brentford 0-2. -
Should we be at all concerned about Nigel Adkins leaving?

timing was right: http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/PreviewDetail/0,,10280~2353043,00.html Ox-C could be in squad for Saturday. -

used to be more exciting when opposition scored occassionally as well
