Just a thought, Is Moshiri gifting the huge amounts of money to Everton without strings or is it a loan against assets. If it is, we've seen that lead to problems down the track elsewhere. Another thought with such an increase in income do they have to pay tax on it.

I can well understand Everton having such a poor home record in front of thousands of gobby Liverpudlians with an overinflated sense of entitlement. If those that have come on here are anything to go by. No wonder they were so much better away. If I was them I wouldn't get my hopes up because there could be massive disappointment in the pipeline. Koeman is a half decent manager but he doesn't do miracles.

Let me spell it out for you. In Dec and Jan the team managed 4 points in 8 games and were knocked out of two cups including losing 6-1 to Liverpool reserves. Koeman was under notice to improve and not far from the sack. He was lucky in that Pelle was injured and he had to play Long coinciding with Forster keeping 6 clean sheets and bought himself time and the team was better with Long up front. Koeman had one year left and two options either sign up for longer or be sacked as we didn't want a one year lame duck manager as we all know what happens there. Enter our saviour, as Koeman wasn't signing rather than having to pay for option two Everton kindly stepped in and offered us £5m to take the problem off our hands. That will now pay for the next three years of a decent manager. I wish you the best of luck and when Ronald gets into one of his poor phases without seeming to know how to get out of it, it will be interesting to view how Everton deal with it.

I think cloud and cuckoo come to mind. Spurs thought that and nobody was allowed to go to Spurs. It will be the same for Everton. Anybody but Everton. Of course there could be exceptions £30m for Ward Prowse would just compensate us and maybe £20m for Pelle would be good value. They are really vital parts of our team and if they need a lift I'll drive them up myself.

What a load of patronising rubbish. Personally I'm relieved now he's gone we can get on with replacing him. £5m compensation for a manager we may have had to sack is great business. Everton have been pretty mediocre of late and I wish them well. I think we may have dodged a bullet with one more season maybe being one too many. Southampton is ridiculously stable with a multi billionaire owner, far richer than Moshiri, who with her father have proved to be superb owners. I think Promotion Div 1, Promotion Championship, 14th, 8th, 7th, 6th is pretty spectacular in successive seasons. Most clubs including Saints are pretty rich now but too sensible to throw their money away. Everton may find it harder to use their cash effectively than they think. There are lots of clubs salivating at the possibility of unloading players they can do without and taking a share of their money. Saints are pretty good at getting maximum value for overpriced players and even better at replacing them. We have a number of Koeman favourites ourselves that I'm sure we can spare to allow Everton to improve their side for a lot more than they are worth. The players we value and want to keep won't be going to Everton. I'd sooner start from our position and strengthen than have to submit to major surgery and replace a major part of a mediocre underperforming team. Best of luck with that. I am looking forward to the impetus we will get from bringing in a new manager and increasing the strength of our squad yet again.

He wouldn't have been allowed to serve out his last year unless he signed a new contract. From where I stand we may have dodged a bullet and instead of having to pay him off will receive £5m from Everton. What's not to like.

Spurs had a decent team to start with. If Koeman goes to Everton, a bottom half club, he will have to make a lot of changes to even attempt to match the ambition. It is easy to make the changes it's much more difficult to integrate the new with what's left and even worse who may not be that happy. Evolution always before revolution. This could be too much too soon.

Or even above West Ham, Swansea or Crystal Palace.

Somehow I doubt it as he already had a long contract and really only extended it a bit for more money. There would hardly be the incentive for inserting a release clause.

Does anyone on here care what the Everton supporters think? I don't give them a thought any more than they gave us a thought until a clown who should know better wants to throw his money away. Taking Koeman at £7m a year is downright stupid. Anybody who intends to spend loads of money on Southampton players etc really ought to check the history of the club. Yes we sell players but in the main they are overpriced and don't give value for whatever reason. Liverpool spent better than £60m and Man Utd almost as much whilst the only team that improved was Southampton. Gareth Bale was a one off. Koeman is a decent manager but Everton must think they are buying a genius. I can tell them now all they have bought is a manager that is no better or worse than most of the other managers. Sometimes he looked really stupid with team selection, tinkering and tactics. Overspending on wages and fees can also rapidly turn on it's head if the egos and agents aren't managed. I'm not going to even claim we can do as well as last season but I'll be a very interested observer of how this pans out at Everton. I just wonder how long he will last.

I think he is a good fit. I'd welcome AVB if that's the choice but I never really took to him, always seemed a bit humourless.

I personally don't want to see us damage another club by trying to pinch their manager. RDB is out of contract and on the market, looks very suitable to me and like Koeman two years ago could be employed without any fall out.

FDB for me. Decent experience speaks fluent English.

I was happy when we made Koeman manager a couple of years ago and basically he has delivered. We had finished eighth and lost players for inflated fees which allowed us to strengthen the depth. We finished a place higher each year which pretty much showed a level being sustained. We absorbed the wasted fees on Ramirez, who Koeman failed miserably to improve and use and the awful Osvaldo. Wanyama and Mane, if they go, will command inflated fees and will be more than adequately replaced. I feel that if Koeman had failed to extend his contract the club would have made a change in any event. As it stands most of us would have pretty much agreed with the club on this. We wouldn't have wanted a lame duck manager running the clock down on his contract. If he goes to Everton good luck to him. This way we pick up £5m and avoid paying him to leave. I have seen every Saints match with Koeman as manager either live or tv live and I must say there has been some bizarre team selections and tactics which didn't work. Our Europa games made me wonder were we even bothered. Koeman is a decent manager overall but a football genius he isn't. Everton are going to pay genius money to Koeman and expect genius results, that isn't going to happen. Saints have made themselves into a very decent club that most of the clubs in the Premier would swop places with. with the exception of the four London, two Manchester clubs plus the two deluded Liverpool clubs. There used to be one strengthened over two years, spent hundreds of millions and ended up eighth, now joined by another that thinks chucking money at other clubs will work, not realising they are in fact strengthening the very clubs they want to overtake. From a Southampton point of view this is a great opportunity to upgrade and strengthen again.

May be because we shopped around clubs that wanted to sell and didn't pay silly wages. I can see Everton being lazy about targets from clubs that don't want to sell.

After the mouthing off it seems to me that Everton have dropped a major clanger publicising £100m at least to spend. It probably means four ordinary players for the money, much like Liverpool. £25m each for £10+m players now their clubs know about the money.

Like Koeman when he came to us FDB is out of contract. It just looks right to me.

This year Mourinho and Chelsea imploded, Manchester Utd were under performing as were City and Arsenal while Leicester caught them cold. Add Tottenham a very good side and sixth looks decent. Next year I expect the top five to be very competitive, I haven't a clue about Leicester. Everton can spend the earth but I'd be surprised if they finished better than sixth. Us, who knows.
