  1. Shades of our relegation season under Redknapp; conceding late goals, the blaming of everything and everyone else by the person who should be showing some leadership. He's losing it in that interview just like his team is losing it on the pitch. One way or another his days are numbered.
  2. From the BBC, "It's embarrassing the ease with which Bobby Zamora continues to win headers against Dejan Lovren."
  3. That game was won in central midfield, aided and abetted by some comical defending by Sunderland under constant pressing from Saints, preventing Sunderland from getting the ball out to their fullbacks to get crosses in to Fletcher and Wickham. Schneiderlin in a slightly deeper role than of late. It's about time we beat that lot. An 8-0 loss lives long in the memory. Everton beat us 8-0 decades ago.
  4. He'll have to do something exceptional like score a belter from 30 yards.
  5. Seriously, given the money available to clubs in the PL, can any PL team be thought of as minnows for which any respectable player is too good? You might be closer to the mark with the tub thumping. Anyway, if he carries on diving, like his compatriot Diouf, he's welcome to leave.
  6. The most inspiring thing I've read about football in long time. That Scott guy's a hero. This bit is good: “He came back and told me he’d scored four, but Arsenal reckoned he was too small. I still remind them of that when their scouts come down: we sent you Nat and now you’d pay a lot of money for him, and he’s just knocked you out of the [Capital One] Cup". I do hope Clyne, the England international, goes back occasionally and pays his dues.
  7. I think it was the best goal. Team build up and that finish is a difficult skill. Chipping the keeper is hard enough with a stationary ball but with player and ball moving.... It was a great goal.
  8. Just back from game. Thought we were worth a draw. Tough game which got bogged down in midfield. Looked dangerous when we got to the byline which wasn't nearly enough. The ref was poor for both sides but mostly, it seemed against Saints. The yellow in the second half for the foul on Mane. I wasn't sure it was a foul from where I was at the other end but if the ref thought it was a foul then should it have been red? Also, from distance it looked by we won a corner at the end and the prat blew full time.
  9. Arguably the most deserving and rewarding of the call ups in recent seasons because of the improvements he's made in his game. Credit as well to the coaches that have worked with him.
  10. In the immortal words of Howard Jones "What is love anyway. Does anybody love anybody anyway."
  11. Defecators watch. They've all done crap.
  12. What a difference a day makes eh?
  13. Nothing to do with context. It was about the quality of the player being signed. Some clearly didn't rate him. They were wrong.
  14. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/what-mauricio-pochettino-gained-out-4346103? Why did Pochettino make a sideways move?
  15. Oh my word yes. Poor Garth Crooks. He's in a class of his own.
  16. Redknapp gets ever more reptilian. No real issue with Hoddle except that if QPR are to get anything from the game, probably it will be down to his tactical nous.
  17. There's a place for Robbie Savage at the BBC, as cover for Ian Wright on the 606 phone in. There he can engage with the nut jobs that phone in by shooting from the hip with impunity, unfettered by the need to inform himself of the facts. I quite like him in a way. You could have a decent argument with him down the pub. But keep him away from MoTD.
  18. A frustrating afternoon. Then a late dodgy penalty. Won by Long. Dispatched by Tadic.
  19. 6 in a row would be something special.
  20. I was at the opposite end. There was a massive swerve on the ball which is what beat the keeper.

  22. Ok schadenfreude but all three are quality players. What gets overlooked is that it's a team game and behind the team is a structure and a club, Southampton, where talent can flourish. Add to that a team spirit forged in League 1 upwards and it's not surprising they are struggling now to adapt.
  23. Everyone's going to the Alwyne. It's much better. Really.
  24. Don't worry. Nobody listens to me.
  25. I use the Compton Arms in Compton Ave right behind the Union Chapel music venue just off Upper St and 2 minutes from Highbury and Islington tube. It hasn't been "improved" like those on Upper St and has barely changed over the years. Small pub so fills up quickly on match days.
