Off poorly today so had a look at gastons second half performance so thought id report back. Really showed good touch as always and moments of class, made space but the number of times the team didnt pass to him when he was in good positions were frustrating. He played deeper than he plays for us. His corners were not very good and he had one chance one on one which he side footed way over the bar, to suarez's disgust. Was interesting that he seemed to play better and was more involved when suarez went off. Looks a bit like when le tiss played for england and they didnt play to his strengths in the times i've watched him play. I do think he needs to work on his finishing a bit though at times but his through balls and close control are excellent. Maybe he was cruising to prevent injury for sat.

Lambert was only dropped because he had a chest infection and Adkins didn't deem him fit enough for 90 mins. Last two weeks he's put extra work in and lost weight And now needs a goal.

J rod isn't in same class as lambert. Lambert more creative and is a goal scorer. Ramirez and lambert were awesome together vs villa and I think when Ramirez is fully fit again hopefully sat we will see benefit.

Coming out I felt more upset than at any time in st Mary's for ages. On reflection first time we have dominated a game. First time we've had our first team out though and hopefully can get a bit of continuity. I feel we have to keep going but might be completely wrong but hopefully a bit more to be positive about but saying that the result is a disaster really at this stage. I'm Rickies biggest fan, played okay made goal but lacing confidence but feel if Adkins sticks with him He will come up trumps.
