  1. Genius
  2. Pepe's been given a 10-match ban
  3. As someone who has been openly critical of Crouch in the past, I can only echo these comments. His comments on 5 Live yesterday were ill-informed at best, but it's clear that he simply can't talk to public audiences or the press very well and in hindsight I suspect he wishes he declined the offer of an interview. Without him, we wouldn't even be having the discussion about whether we were going to be able to sell enough tickets for tomorrow's game. There would be no game.
  4. Apparently when he took over, they only had 2 points from 8 games. Triffic.
  5. The boot will be very much on the other foot in a couple of years' time. Let them have their little giggle at our expense, the situation will be magnified in reverse when it all goes tits-up down there.
  6. Words cannot describe how utterly idiotic that statement is, if that is indeed what he said. For a start, the "sporting sanction" - as Lord take-ten-seconds-of-breath-between-each-word calls it - was only brought in in 2004. The PLC was formed in 1997.
  7. I don't think there's any "If" about it - we will appeal, and judging by the conduct suggested in the statement on the OS, rightly so.
  8. They did put those runs on at Taunton, though... Also, surely Ambrose is their keeper, not Frost?
  9. For anyone who's not seen it, here's Pepe giving away a penalty and then going completely insane
  10. I watched an equally mental game on Sky Sports 2 last night between Real Madrid and Getafe, where Real twice came from behind to win 3-2 in the 93rd minute with ten men. If anyone can find the highlights anywhere, it's well worth watching even if it's only for the utterly bonkers last 10 minutes.
  11. Yes, that's correct. Or beg, steal or borrow a pair from someone else if there aren't any left in your size
  12. Right, big update time. Sorry for the lack of them over the last couple of weeks, I've simply not had any time. Here are the (hopefully) final squads. (45) shows a player playing for 45 minutes, not (necessarily ) his age HOME GK: The Banana Factor RB: silversaint (45) CB: disintegration87 (45) CB: DarrenLeTiss LB: SaintKenny RM: JustMike CM: prideofthesouth CM: hamster (45) LM: SaintNeil90 (45) ST: stevegrant ST: bigdavewatson (45) RB: dannypope (45) CB: fos1 (45) LM: Scudamore (45) CM: saintsforlife7 (45) ST: Nexstar (45) Manager: dubai phil AWAY GK: bpsaint RB: Andy_Porter (45) CB: Saints Mad Si (45) CB: The Flying Finn (45) LB: Neilza RM: forever a red and white CM: INFLUENCED.COM CM: lee_saint (45) LM: Griffo ST: Baj ST: The9 (45) RB: Um Bongo (45) CB: ooohTerryHurlock (45) CB: Bugenhagen (45) CM: MLT's Headed Goals (45) ST: Foxy (45) Manager: nickh TICKET INFO For anyone wishing to come along to watch this game, it will be cash on the turnstiles (Itchen North, seating in blocks 7 and , £5 for adults, £1 for kids. At the moment, money raised will be going towards "Save Our Saints" (and I will be doing my best to ensure our money goes to the right sort of areas, i.e. the "regular" staff, not the players, who quite frankly earn more than enough). If the ownership situation is sorted before then, the money will then be split 50/50 between Saints in the Community and a charity as chosen by the players. I have had a couple of nominations for charities, all players and managers will vote on the day with the charity receiving the most votes getting the cheque. Turnstiles will open at 5.45 (kick-off is 6.45), and I'm looking for a couple of volunteers to man the turnstiles for that hour. Someone from the club will show you how to operate them on the day (I think it's just a case of pressing a button). I'll also be looking for 8 volunteers to be ball assistants. Any correspondence to playatsms@saintsweb.co.uk Oh, and the date for the game is Thursday 7th May
  13. But he can't afford £6m (or so he said in the Echo), so how would he manage that, with the current levels of interest, which is only driving the asking price upwards? If he was the only interested party, and was offering £2m to buy SFC from SLH (the money from which would go to Barclays as settlement, leaving SLH to be liquidated), he'd own the football club in its entirety. "Dead money", apparently.
  14. When you say "nobody else has heard it", presumably you mean "and I've not heard it"? Some people are happier to divulge that sort of information, others prefer to keep their counsel for various reasons - on here, I suspect that's mostly because people like you who won't even entertain that their side of the argument might not all be sweetness and light accuse the messenger of being "paid". What's the point in putting information in the public domain if it's just going to be rubbished without any sort of reasonable thought process behind it other than "I don't like him/the person he's backing, therefore he must be talking crap"?
  15. These things do have a habit of finding their way down the food chain, so to speak. There's all sorts of stuff that's been doing the rounds which would put the other side of the argument in a very different light.
  16. I'm not going to comment too much on Crouch - I think my opinion of the bloke is fairly well known - but what I will ask is why he was supposedly willing to invest £2m a couple of months ago and yet took the role of chief begging bowl passer-rounder in the corporate areas at the Charlton game, saying the club needs £500k to get through the rest of the season, when his original "available" sum would more than cover it.
  17. The hypocrisy in those 18 words is incredible.
  18. 216 all out in the end, Dawson top scoring with 66. Worcestershire 39/4 in reply at tea - odds on us winning but being deducted points for a crap pitch, anyone?
  19. Didn't see that. **** knows then.
  20. Yes please.
  21. 2 and 3 are now the same thing. As far as I'm aware, derry started the original "How much would you be willing to donate?" thread just as a "typing out your thoughts" type thing to see if anyone else thought the idea was a reasonable one - he then got involved with the group who have been calling themselves "Save Our Saints" for a while (think they set up a hastily-arranged meeting at the De Vere a couple of months back?) who essentially had the same ideas in terms of raising enough money from fans. That poll's obviously been running for a while, but it's easy for people to read a poll on the forum and just click on an option without much thought - actually parting with cash is clearly another matter entirely. The idea behind the separate page on the main SaintsWeb site is that a) it's accessible to those who aren't registered on the forum, and b) users need to enter separate data on there which, to be honest, those who were just clicking a button on a poll just because there was a poll there (of which I suspect there are quite a lot ) wouldn't bother filling out - there are also slightly wider-ranging donation options on there. The theory being that the data on the new pledge site will be a slightly truer reflection of the amount of money potentially available, and it's there for all to see. Bit of a ramble, but hopefully that explains it a bit.
  22. Simple answer is "no". Slightly longer answer is that no account has been set up yet in order to take the money - as far as I'm aware, the guys behind SOS are very determined to ensure that the account has as much security and protection for all deposits as possible so there can be no potential accusations of people taking donations and then running off with the cash etc. SaintsWeb isn't involved in this process - as I've stated on the pledge site, I'm in no position to back it without knowing what any of the other potential buyers are bringing to the table, and as a result we're not willing to use the site itself to actually take money from people for this.
  23. It seemed to be annoying people more than it was providing a service, so we removed it. The vast majority of the Echo articles get referenced on here anyway, so you're probably not missing any content
  24. Not a chance. The club will lay on as many coaches as are required, but I'm not even sure it's possible to charter a train - and on a Sunday, there's likely to be engineering works getting in everyone's way as well.
