  1. I think there's also doubts as to whether Sidebottom is actually any good against the top Test sides. It's all well and good getting excellent figures against the likes of the West Indies and New Zealand, but it's the likes of South Africa and Australia that are the real test.
  2. To be honest, anyone who tries to get out of a credit agreement on something as ridiculous as that is a **** and should have the interest rate instantly doubled, IMO. When you take out a loan, you are provided with the interest rate and an illustration of what the total payments over the course of the loan will be assuming you keep up with the repayments. The contract will also state penalty fees for late payments or defaults and also whether interest will be applied to those payments as well (and the rate, if different). When you sign the contract, you sign it to state that you have read the contract and agree to every single clause that is written in it.
  3. Well worth calling Bopara up as a "straight replacement" for Vaughan then...
  4. I take it you've got proof that it was a lie then?
  5. I think you'll be surprised to know that the stats don't appear to have changed very much at all in terms of the number of active users and the number of posts. The number of topics themselves have been reduced because non-paying members can't start new ones, but I don't see that as a problem because whereas now we appear to have people able to respond to an existing thread whereas before whenever anyone had anything to say (even if it had been discussed on a 5-page thread already on page 1), they'd start their own thread. Of course, on the old forum, people frequently resurrected threads that had dropped off the front page a week or two previously. That option isn't available at the moment as the post database has only been running for a few days.
  6. It would be fair to say that he's a hell of a lot closer than you are.
  7. There's no hard-and-fast "cheapest" provider, it really can be completely random. In the 7 years I've been driving, I've been insured by: CIS (now Co-Operative) Tesco Direct Line Bell Elephant.co.uk My premium will be cut by about 40% when I renew in November as I'll be 25 with 8 years' protected no-claims
  8. Ironic, given that that's what they're supposedly in place to fund...
  9. Excellent. So instead of using technology to improve the environment, we're going to be forced into walking or cycling everywhere because the roads are in too poor a condition to drive a car anywhere because all of the council's money has been blown seemingly on a competition to fit as many traffic lights as possible onto one 5-exit roundabout. Millbrook Roundabout did need work on it, but the only work that was needed was resurfacing due to all the holes created by lorries.
  10. There I was thinking roundabouts were for cars and to aid traffic flow... Anyway, there are hardly ever any pedestrians on that roundabout. The only time there are any is if they want to walk from KFC/McDonalds to Megabowl/whatever it's called now, and there's been a pedestrian crossing further up Tebourba Way for that purpose for years.
  11. I would imagine the OP meant that whoever this mystery person(s) is, is looking at two clubs and may or may not make a move to buy one or the other. Personally, I think it's all a load of rubbish.
  12. The commute itself isn't too bad, to be honest. It's the dragging myself out of bed at 6am bit that's the hard part. Oh, and I'm generally asleep again at about 9.30pm.
  13. Fixed.
  14. If we draw a top Premier League team in a cup competition, I'm almost certain that the three closed corners will be opened straight away.
  15. How the hell did you get them so cheap? A return from Southampton Central to London Waterloo at peak time is £57.60.
  16. Cheers, fixed.
  17. This drug is cake. It's an entirely made-up drug. There is no evidence to support its effects, but it is scientific fact.
  18. Don't think that one would have made any difference as Derby still only needed to score their last one to win anyway. It was still a **** penalty though...
  19. When you click edit, it should dynamically turn your post into an edit box (although the quick reply box at the bottom will still be visible). It does seem to jump the screen to the wrong place, which is mildly annoying, and is probably one of the many little things we've got to iron out over the next few weeks.
  20. To be honest, I think I've seen about 5 people complain about the price. Also, you seem to whinge about how we run the forum regardless of whether it's free or subscription-based, so I would suggest you don't bother wasting your (or our) time and go and set up your own Saints forum on a similar platform and pay for it all out of your own pocket. I have a feeling we might be waiting some time...
  21. Given that the other options seem to have been Strauss, Flintoff and Rob Key, I don't think there was really any other decision to be made. While I'd have actually liked Rob Key to have got the job as he's proven himself as a captain and top opening batsman on the county circuit, you can't just bring someone in to captain the side who hasn't played international cricket for a number of years. You've really got to have someone as captain who's almost undroppable in terms of what they bring to the team ability-wise as well as a good leader. Vaughan was exactly that until he got his knee injury. Since then he's been very inconsistent and I think he's made exactly the right call by standing down now. It gives KP a chance to captain the side in a test match where the team will be under very little pressure because the series is already lost.
  22. We're hoping to have a "work-safe" skin in place shortly. In the meantime, the best option may be to view the forum using the "Archive" feature (link at the foot of the page) and then switch back to the normal view when you want to post something.
  23. Local is the Winston on the corner of Archers Road and Hill Lane. Not too bad, although for a predominantly student-oriented pub, it's pretty expensive.
  24. Try clearing out your cache and cookies and logging in again. You should be able to pay in any currency. I believe we've had overseas members pay already, presumably in Euros or USD. Long story. Short version is database crashed on Friday. Loads of posts were lost. Post counts reduced for pretty much everyone as a result.
