  1. I go on holiday. No, not really. We have budgeted to turn a very small profit (perhaps £100, if that) over the course of the year. If we exceed that, great, we'll be able to afford to make improvements to the site, such as live score feeds etc (which I can assure you cost a small fortune). I can assure you we're not doing this to make money for ourselves. It is, in our opinion, the best way of ensuring the forum can be hosted on a high-spec server which won't crash at peak times and that the cost for that is self-sufficient. Donations and advert revenue alone would never be able to provide any sort of long-term guarantee.
  2. View the user's profile, and under the "User Lists" menu, select "Add to Ignore List".
  3. As for the "lost" post counts: 1. When we were trying to repair the database on Friday, something got corrupted which meant the loss of a significant number of posts (there were just under a million posts in the database), which subsequently affected users' post counts. The posts that remained will obviously have remained on users' post counts. 2. It still baffles me as to why people actually care about their post counts... it's really not much of a status symbol!
  4. A basic rundown is available here. Essentially, "Tier 1" users get 3 posts per day (or, more precisely, 3 posts in a 24 hour period rather than an actual day, e.g. could be 10.27 to 10.26 the following day rather than 00.00 to 23.59) and the ability to read the forum. That's it. "Tier 2" or "Subscribed" users get everything, e.g. as many posts as you like, the ability to start threads and polls, private messages, avatars, etc.
  5. I should probably amend that "No" to "Not yet". I think realistically we're probably going to have to. I've asked people at SFC about the "nominated fanzine" thing, whereby we'd be able to display the fixtures for £1 per year rather than the £300-odd, but got very little response from them. I would imagine their stance would be even more negative in light of the changes we've now made to the forum in terms of revenue generation.
  6. Subscribed members can upload their own avatars. Needless to say, you're expected not to abuse this new privilege
  7. As a subscribed user, you should be able to upload your own avatar.
