  1. He was obviously signed only for 20/20 last season. As we discovered players we "signed" such as Shahid Afridi didn't join us in the end. I guess it's a question of looking at the options, Tahir will clearly be one of of our 20/20 overseas players and I'm sure we have signed another, can't remember his name !!
  2. Sour grapes maybe
  3. Simply great news “I have a great relationship with this club and its supporters and I feel like part of a family. “I feel Hampshire is my home.. " Love it !
  4. Yay, they won the Karalius Cup
  5. If I could be sure exactly what you are trying to say then I'd probably agree Essentially all types of discrimination are totally unacceptable and my first thoughts when I heard about this was how it compared to the infamous comments made by Ron Atkinson. It was easy to realise these comments were equally bad, regardless of how good or bad Key and Gray are they should go. They are actually, as most I believe would agree, pretty dire. However, I'm not sure that this could be described as banter, just puerile, sexist nonsense and I don't see the connection with the abuse referees suffer generally aside from that is equally unacceptable.
  6. I lied Monday 24th Jan Kemp 3.50 Jake The Snake NAP Wolv 5.35 Veroon ew NB
  7. Indeed, easy win for Trinidad. Ok, not the most important of tournaments but would still be fun if we could win !!
  8. Just as a one off:) Whatever happened to the main Horse Racing tips thread:? Wincanton 4.30 Arthurian Legend NAP Ascot 3.30 I'm a Legend ew NB
  9. Barbados win on DL method, Canada were 29/5 off 6 chasing a revised target of 62. As above we now need Trinida to beat Barbados tomorrow or if Barbados win do so by a large and unlikely margin when net run rate comes into play as it will also if it's a no result and then we will miss out. Somerset contrived to score 24/8 off 6 overs in another rain affected match in reply to Jamaica's 85/1 off 6.
  10. Great, wait till I'm in the process of obtaining the above info and post at that exact time, you couldn't make it up
  11. Game abandoned, 1 point each. Hants have finished on 9 points, Barbados and Canada both on 4 with 2 games left so likely one will overtake us. The loss v Canada looks to have been crucial but come what may it has been an interesting experience for many younger players ! Brief highlights and reports here : http://www.espncricinfo.com/ct20-11/content/series/487275.html
  12. Fair to say all of those would be in contention for my best ever Hampshire X1. Would have to add the likes of Robin Smith, David Gower, John Crawley and Paul Terry from the batting perspective. Recalling dear old Malcolm Marshall, God rest his soul, would really be some miracle !! Quite probably my favourite player of all time, not just the first name on Hants team sheet but a world X1. Trevor Jesty would also be an automatic pick, quite how he only played in a handful of ODI's for England will remain a mystery to me though at least Wisden recognised him in their 5 players of the year in the early 80's. I just came across this on Cricinfo regarding our 1973 Championship Year, as always a good read http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/story/132409.html
  13. Jones 4-10 off 4 overs, great effort !
  14. Apologies that this covers aspects of several other threads but it seems somewhat difficult ( for me anyway ) to establish who exactly is going to be playing for us this year ! As far as I can tell the following are all likely to be fit and available for all or most games : Lumb Adams Carberry Vince McKenzie Myburgh Dawson Pothas Bates Briggs Tahir Cork Jones De Wet Tomlinson Griffiths Wood Howell Riazuddin Players with injury doubts : Dimi Kabir Ali Balcombe Unfortunate that Ervine is not returning though the signing of Myburgh suggested to me that was likely. Hopefully, as mentioned elsewhere, he will play 20/20 for us. I'd be surprised if he didn't assuming he is available since it would surely suit both sides. I suspect I have still missed someone or something, probably injury related !
  15. Dimi is also due to play in the IPL for Kings XI Punjab who have also signed Stuart Broad according to the Hants website, confusing as both seem by all accounts unlikely to play for some time !? Nothing to suggest ( as per another thread) that neither Dimi or Kabir Ali might play again is there ? Kabir seemed very positive at the end of last season, let's hope he can regain fitness.
  16. The signing of Johann Myburgh should help, I believe he's available for all of the 2011 season and maybe beyond.
  17. Deccan Chargers seem to rate him having paid £900,000 to secure his services in the Indian Premier League !!
  18. Blackpool cruise to a 2-1 victory !
  19. Indeed, as soon as you arrived this morning in fact
  20. To be honest I didn't have but now I'm deep in thought wondering what difference your staggering observation makes to the size of Bart's finger
  21. That's just sheer laziness, construct your own thoughts
  22. Actually his name did come up very recently and someone asked the same question as above, we did sign him from Weymouth.
  23. Lol, I wasn't even going to mention the player on Bart's right, face perhaps wisely obscured by the knee of Adkins
  24. Somewhat ironic that a build up thread should turn to knocking Dagenham and Redbridge down ! As correctly stated the club was formed in 1992 when Dagenham merged with Redbridge Forest with the latter only formed itself around 1980. I lived in Essex in the early 80's, Dagenham was fairly local and they were a pretty good non league team. However, the real irony is that over the course of many years what is now Dagenham and Redbridge also incorpororated Ilford, Walthamstow and Leytonstone which actually covers a mighty big area. Of course it is inevitable that West Ham, Southend and Orient are the 3 Essex/East London teams with the most history. However, with the Gateway Development set to extend Dagenham and thereby it's catchment area still further the potential fan base is very large indeed and even, dare I say, larger than Southampton !! Quite frankly I say good luck to Dagenham and Redbridge, it's never likely to happen in my lifetime but I would love them to overtake the not so happy Hammers who really have some of the worst supporters I have encountered and no prizes for anyone who knows which favourite ex Saints manager used to manage them ( I'm guessing everyone knows !) .
  25. Crikey, 4.30am and you've started me off already. Am thinking many things including that is possibly way too long to be a finger
