  1. You really do love seeing Saints lose don't you
  2. You know where I am Mikey...........
  3. He supported Madness on tour many times. Suggs said: "He was a great reggae artist and one of the most sartorially elegant stars on the world stage." RIP
  4. Lillee, 2nd only to MM
  5. Heaven help us
  6. Pin down
  7. Absolutely correct, the original article clearly stated "another clean sheet", Spudgun then threw a nice dummy by mentioning a missing comma which made not a jot of difference to the meaning, the O/S changed it to " another solid performance...." . So all is now well with the world again.
  8. Very complicated especially as some employers still discriminate against those with mental health problems and though there is some legislation the law relating to mental health has evolved from case law rather than legislation. In some cases stress/mental health problems are covered by the The Disability Discrimination Act 1995. So anxiety, stress and depression may be sufficient to qualify a person as disabled and therefore covered by the DDA, as long as there is a substantial and long-term effect (for at least a year) on their ability to carry out normal day-to-day duties. Those with clinically recognised mental health diagnoses are very likely to be covered by the Act. In the case of your friend his stress over 13 years at work might be a key issue. Incidentally sick absence is not a disciplinary issue but will be invariably looked at on the grounds of ineffeciency. He certainly needs support and as correctly stated you or someone else are entitled to accompany him. Getting as much advice as you can, which is clearly what you are trying to do, is vital. Good luck.
  9. That is indeed true, so good I named him twice:D
  10. http://www.cricinfo.com/magazine/content/story/482936.html Reasonable teams selected by the Cricinfo team but the Readers' X1 is rather bizarre. Sehwag/Gavaskar opening the batting, two spinners selected even though Sobers could bowl left arm spin perfectly well but worst of all no Malcolm Marshall Leaving aside any Hampshire bias Marshall is easily the best pace bowler I have ever seen. How on earth Glenn McGrath gets selected is beyond me, Lillee, Holder, Roberts, Hadlee, Imran Khan and several others are all better options as well. One wonders how old the average "reader" is, I'm guessing about 12 ! Personally I'd put Barry Richards into the 1st XI ahead of Hobbs but I suspect in this instance there is a little bit of bias !

    Davis

    Nothing like being realistic !
  12. Bert Trautmann 1956 ? I was 2 months old, remember it well
  13. Yes, he joined them from Man City but only stayed 6 months.
  14. Oh yes, how could I forget Monkou was Dutch.
  15. The question posed was : Simple best player you have seen either signed from foreign club or best foreigner signed Golac is nearly untouchable except Pahars was so good he would have to run him close. Then Niemi, Michael Svennson, Lundekvam, Berkovic, Kachloul, Tessem and Ostenstad with a special mention for Ekelund. Agree 100% with Badger, he was potentially a superb signing. I was gutted when he got injured. In fact we could have a whole team and damned good it would be as well Niemi Golac, Claus, Killer, Colleter Tessem , Ekelund, Berkovic Kachloul Pahars, Ostenstad Subs : Grobbelar, A Svennson, Soltvedt, Van Gobbel, Fernandes, Morgan, El Khalej Would probably end up with Ivan on the right wing and Tessem at right back but never mind ! Oh, Dani Rodrigues was another potentially very good player, shame he broke his ankle twice:( Biggest disappointments were probably Kanchelskis and Delgado.
  16. And there goes your final post for today:rolleyes:
  17. I'm not sure even Andy D'Urso could manage to send off someone we haven't got playing for us !
  18. I think it was more a question of him being a constant pain in the ass ! That said I got on fine with him so hopefully just a temporary ban ? Again, another poster who I never found abusive.
  19. Fair enough, that was the only thing that came to mind. Hopefully he will learn, as I said I don't recall him ever being abusive.
  20. Unfortunately my head was right, 24-10 to NZ.
  21. Since you seem to need a little help Mikey some stats for you : Tottenham v Everton Sat 23rd Oct, 12.45pm - live on Sky Sports 2 Match odds: Tottenham 6/5 Draw 12/5 Everton 3/1 These teams match up well for a 'low' goals game... Tottenham's home games are producing an average of 2.1 goals 7 of Everton's 8 games this season have gone Under 2.5 Goals - including all 4 of their away games Everton have failed to score in 3 of their 4 away games this season Under 2.5 goals @ 4/5 looks the way to go. Chelsea v Wolves Sat 23rd Oct, 3pm Match odds: Chelsea 1/7 Draw15/2 Wolves 22/1 Chelsea are just 1/7 to beat Wolves on Saturday. The best opportunity comes in the 'Win To Nil' market... Chelsea have won all 4 of their home games 'To Nil' this season The last away team to score a goal at Stamford Bridge was Aston Villa on the 27th March last season - Chelsea have played 7 home Premier League games since without conceding a goal Wolves were beaten 'To Nil' in all 3 of their away games against the Top 3 last season... Chelsea 4 Wolves 0 Manchester United 3 Wolves 0 Arsenal 1 Wolves 0 Chelsea to 'Win To Nil' @ 10/11 (1.91) with Skybet Sunderland v Aston Villa Sat 23rd Oct, 3pm Match odds: Sunderland 6/4 Draw23/10 Aston Villa 21/10 The stats indicate a 'high' corners game between these two... 3 of Sunderland's 4 home games have gone Over 10.5 Corners 87% of Aston Villa's games this season have gone Over 10.5 Corners. So far, 3 of Aston Villa's 4 away games have had 12 or more corners in them Sunderland's home games are producing an average of 12.0 corners Aston Villa's away games are producing an average of 12.5 corners Over 11 Corners @ 8/11 (1.73) with Bet365 Also check with Stan James, Bwin and Expekt for Total Corners bets. West Ham v Newcastle Sat 23rd Oct, 5.30pm - live on Sky Sports 2 Match odds: West Ham7/5 Draw12/5 Newcastle 9/4 The best opportunity in this game comes in the Total Cards market... 3 of West Ham's 4 home games this season have gone Over 3.5 Cards All 4 of Newcastle's away games have gone Over 3.5 Cards West Ham's home games are producing an average of 4.0 Yellow Cards this season Newcastle's away games are producing an average of 6.5 Yellow Cards this season Over 3.5 Cards @ 8/13 (1.62) with Bet365 Also available Over 4 Cards @ 10/11 (1.91) with Bet365. Of course anything is possible but in the long run using these kind of stats is very likely to produce a profit, I certainly avoid match betting as the odds are rarely any value.
  22. Oh, there is at least one new mod and he freely admits to being clueless !! Just pm St Landrew and he'll help as always....... except of course he is no longer here either
  23. Who knows what is going on !? I'm only on here because of the Pompey saga, otherwise I stay away. Deppo has been banned for a while, probably for being an irritating little oik though he has never been as offensive as some who remain on here. 1976child is a real mystery as I can't ever recall him being abusive and he seems to have been banned only recently. On that basis I can only assume whatever he said has been deleted ?
  24. Can't see us winning to be honest and neither can the bookies who make NZ 2/9 to win. Don't know a lot about Widdop, a very surprising selection for me. Would definitely have taken Martin Glesson especially with Keith Senior out of contention. T'is actually live on BBC1 though from 7.30am, kick off 8.00am so I aim to stay awake to watch it and hope I'm wrong and we win Sam Tomkins might well be a bigger threat at scrum half which it seems is where he will play, shame Leuluai is at hooker in a way though I reckon he's better at scrum half anyway. Heart says England by 2-4 points, head says NZ 18-10.
  25. Was actually thinking as she works for Sky how much they paid her to say that !!
