I was thinking of Brett Lee when I read the original post, would love to see him playing for us.

Regardless of any view on this I suggest there is no doubt Big Ron deserves to rank alongside our all time greats, cannot imagine anyone who saw him disagreeing nor indeed anyone who didn't ! I would say certainly the best header of the ball I have ever seen anywhere and scored some cracking goals with his feet too which tends to get overlooked !!

Well my original copy complete with my name and that of my late Dad alongside is certainly priceless to me as is the knowledge. Which reminds me I must find out where my Mum has put my Dad's copy and hope her tendency to throw things away does not apply in this case !!

Well as Mick once famously said to Lawrie Mac football is his hobby, horse racing his profession ! I find it very hard to compare the 2, suffice to say he has excelled in both fields.

Totally agree with you, Nineteen Canteen and everyone else! However, the subject of Mick not receiving any honours at all has been discussed before, as far as I'm aware he has not received anything though I believe that can only be due to MC turning down any honours he has been nominated for in terms of the Queen's honours list. However, that is just a guess on the basis his careers in football and horse racing mean he must certainly have been nominated. Does anyone know this for sure?

That would be a brilliant signing. Though I'm not the greatest fan of 20/20 the prospect of Mendis and Warne in the same team is still an exciting one.

Good luck, only has 3 to beat but looks a decent race. 15:50 Ascot Picot De Say E/W

St Landrew "And now it's Soft Cell's - The Singles. I just find Marc Almond's english rendition of vocals, rather than mid-atlantic, so brilliant and refreshing. It's a factor of his singing that has never diminished. The music on this album is pure and heartfelt. I bought it sometime in 1987, I think, and I haven't played it for perhaps 10 or more years, yet it still moves my emotions, like it did when I first heard it. Crikey, it's a greatest hits album, and it has real depth to the songs. Now that's probably a first. " Blimey, now I'm really impressed lol

Ok, you have good taste clearly as well !!! Credit where it is due.

Boyle Sports bookmakers have joined them ! http://www.boylesports.com/index.asp "We Want a Replay - Sign Our Petition As Official Betting Partner of the Irish Soccer Team, we will present a petition to Monsieur Platini at FIFA's HQ and the French Embassy in Dublin so WE WANT YOUR NAME ON THAT LIST. No longer will the Irish team be happy to roll over to the superpowers of world football, let your voice be heard! " Absolutely pointless.

Good, after nearly getting dragged into the relegation play off let's hope next season is better. Chris Holder was excellent this season, not sure of the stats but was probably Poole's best rider.

Hankey beat Mardle 5-4 despite missing THIRTY doubles! So can still qualify but needs to beat Simon Whitlock in his final game. Terry Jenkins and Gary Anderson are already through along with the 8 from groups A-D.

So far in the last 16 it is: Taylor v Lloyd O'Shea v Webster Painter v Shepherd King v van Barneveld.

Lol, you should have seen that coming !! I think Long is past his best to be honest though still a very good player of course. I do think Leeds will be the team to beat but hopefully Saints, Wigan, Hull FC, maybe Warrington and Bradford ( Matt Orford is a big signing for them though I believe Paul Deacon is leaving for Wigan !) can be up there as well. It's going to be a good season again I'm sure and only 3 months to wait
-
Indeed, to see the Saints lose on TV is what we are used to !!!

It's really a given that there will be comings and goings in January. As discussed elsewhere we need another quality defensive midfielder and if Trotman does not stay then clearly a replacement is needed. My mind goes back a long way to the last time we got promoted in 1977/78. It was absolutely no coincidence that we signed Alan Ball in January 1977 and then in the close season Chris Nicholl, Mick Pickering ( who became the CB pairing) and Phil Boyer ( albeit as a replacement for Micky Channon though my view now as it was then he needed a fresh challenge). The spine of the team strenthened immensely and though clearly we are never going to sign players of that calibre the principle is the same. Lawrie Mac knew what was needed and hopefully Pardew will follow suit. I really think our promotion chances this season are very slim so to me it makes sense to look to next season though of course we need to keep stability this season. So I'd hope for a couple of permanent signings as opposed to players on loan though of course our loan signings have been good.

I'm not sure I've seen a KO like that in Taekwondo before, not lucky at all !
