Well Inter failing to win has scuppered 2 accas already.
-
Inter looking dodgy too at 1-1 and down to 10 men.
-
He actually played in our C&G final win v Warwickshire in 2005.

Sadly, mine is still working, it is a pile of ****e it's true to say anyway.
-
Ah, the mighty England who are currently 16-3 v New Zealand!
-
It is if you're one of the suicidal Saints fans on here !

Very good summing up WS. Wouldn't disagree with much of that though Pothas would be player of the season, our batting is just much more solid when he plays. I feel genuine sympathy for Tremlett, really cannot stay fit which is not his fault. Still think he could be a very good bowler for us IF he could stay fit but he just seems to be one of those players who cannot. As for Cork a friend of mine who support Lancs has sounded like David Lloyd all season bumbling on as to how he should never have been allowed to leave ! Our gain I'm glad to say !! I predict next season we'll run Durham close, Mendis I'm really looking forward to joining us as much as I think Tahir is excellent also.

Yes, when a win was an important aim for us, Derby had pretty much nothing to gain. When the 2 sides met at the start of the season Derby had by far the better of the game but the declaration they made set Essex 312 from 45 overs, 7 an over. In the game in question the asking rate was 5.5 an over and on an easy pitch. Just no consistency with those 2 decisions, the difference for sure being early in the season a draw with an outside chance of a win was the safest option with guaranteed points whilst in the game just finished the extra points were neither here nor there for Derby. I really couldn't care less who got promoted but I can understand why Northants were a little put out by the turn of events after thrashing Leics by an innings.

Not sure that is relevant.

Wasn't gettting worked up, just raising an issue which certainly did raise a few eyebrows. However, in the context of the season as a whole how often has that kind of finish occurred? Not very often I think you'll find.

Yes, it was raised v the Yorks game so I knew exactly what you meant of course. chrisobee Full Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Watford Posts: 2,824 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote: Originally Posted by hamster I have not a clue what you are on about, sorry. Trying to forget that TBH !!

What is with the "you" ? I support Hants so really could not care who was promoted. However, Derby had no incentive to win, so they would have finished 3rd if they had. Big deal.

It's even worse than I thought: "Fortunes began to favour Essex when, with 65 overs remaining of the days play, Derbyshire declared leaving only 359 to chase in 65 overs on a flattening pitch. Essex then took all before them taking Derbyshire's attack to all parts of the ground with Ryan ten Doeschate scoring an undefeated 59-ball 108 with Derbyshire's tactics on the afternoon coming under question as Graeme Wagg reverted to bowling left arm off-spin and opening batsman Madsen bowling off-spin." http://northantscricket.com/index.php?mod=news&id_nws=151

Indeed and if we get Kabir Ali as well then who knows, maybe time for Tremlett to move on and maybe to Worcester!
-
After the game looking odds on a draw and Northants set for promotion Derby declared v Essxex setting them 359 in 65 overs in spite of themselves having nothing to gain and Essex nothing to lose. No surprise Essex got home with 5 overs and 5 wickets to spare. I'm sure there will be plenty of unhappy Northants fans around.

None too shabby with Joshua Tree winning at 12/1 and Lady Darshan, Axiom, Red Dune all 2nd at 9/1, 12/1 and 10/1. RPW also won as expected.

Agreed and not a million miles away from the point I was trying to make way back on post 68 !

Disappointed we did not do better in CC1 but as pointed out the absence of Dimi at certain times and Tremlett's poor form did not help, In the end we are still in CC1 and winners of one of the 4 trophies on offer. Most teams would prefer our season and even Sussex who did win the 20/20 and probably Pro40 were relegated so all in all I suggest only Durham had a better season. Dawson is still only 18/19 so his potential is still to be realised and of course we have several good young players who wil only improve.

Match drawn, the season is over.
-
Including Papa thankfully, clearly was just a knock contrary to a few rumours I heard!

I switched on the TV at half time, it was already 6-0 so we improved 2nd half !
