  1. Your memory is good and one for Channon !
  2. Yes, I recall that also but at that time relegation was nowhere near as damaging as it is now and I'd already resigned myself to that happening after we lost 4-1 in a feeble display at West Ham. As it turned out who knows what might have been ( or not been !) had we stayed up !!
  3. At least it is an ATR televised meeting so I can see ALL the races
  4. Hants 145/2 at lunch. I guess there is a chance both captains might want to make a game of it and Hants set Yorks a run chase but I somehow doubt it even though in this situation Hampshire have the possibility of a big fourth-place payout in the Championship if they did achieve an outright victory. However, both teams achieved their aim to stay in CC1 and with the FP trophy win none too shabby a season at all. Already looking forward to next season with hopefully one or two additions plus the young players all having had some experience. Durham are the team of course who set the standard but no reason why we cannot step up a level, I'd love to win CC1 especially after 2005 !!!
  5. Indeed, that is better !
  6. 1.55 Shamwari Lodge 2.30 Joshua Tree ew 3.05 Lady Dashan 3.40 Axiom ew 4.15 Rip Van Winkle NAP- but too short to back for me 4.50 Red Dune 5.25 Sweetheart EW Yankee- Joshua Tree, Lady Darshan, Axiom, Red Dune, Good luck Stevo !
  7. It was but Sri Lanka really did not take defeat very well, the pitch did not "suit them" it seems. Well it's in SA, what do they expect ? England for all their poor ODI performances generally play on pitches that are not like pitches here in England. Very sporting of Strauss to recall Matthews after he was "run out" following a collision with Matthews and fair play to Matthews who went over and thanked Strauss when he was actually out. That was more in the spirit of the game than Sangakkara giving England no credit at all in his post match interview, very poor.
  8. Lost 2 early wickets but Shah and Collingwod have taken us to 56/2 off 16 overs. SL only batted 47.3 overs, as long as we don't get bowled out we should win only needing 4.5 per over. Trouble is what odds we do get bowled out!
  9. I meant having been 209/1 it was rather a collapse, I think you'd expect well over 400 from there.
  10. A predictable recovery to 131/5 off 29. 200 will probably be enough TBH
  11. A Hants style collapse ! Wickets shared amongst all the bowlers in the end!
  12. Indeed !!!
  13. Eh ? The 1000's I were referring to were us Saints fans who would not want the club crest on the page of that group !
  14. Oh, are you still here !!
  15. I'm sure it will be, I doubt FB would want to be sued as well as alienating 1000's of people. I hope the whole group is removed, I have requested that it is but we'll see.
  16. Oh boy and now the EDL "Southampton Division " on FB deigns to use the Saints crest on it's website. Shameful. And yet another irony : group type- "This is a closed group. Members must be invited or approved by an admin." so if your face fits............ what a load of BS. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=115621264957 I see also the original group has closed, I wonder why.
  17. I suggest that the moderators are unaware as to the true nature of the EDL, clearly a racist group and yet certain people seem to be in support of them . So if you want to know where the racist posts are then just take any that are writen in support of this group of racists and there is your answer. Not exactly rocket science and anyone who truly believes the EDL are not a racist group should try doing a little research on the matter but I guess it's easier not to. I always knew there were a few idiots on this board, now I know that racism is alive and well on here too. Well done all those who think the EDL is a group that you're able to support, you are either completely stupid, racist or probably both.
  18. I don't think this has been mentioned but it's not pure chance that the EDL is closely affiliated with Casuals United, a group consisting mainly of ex football hooligans. They see themselves as the vanguard in a battle for the soul of Britain against extremist Islamist forces — the “enemy within” bent on imposing Sharia. The "Casuals" have attracted the support of BNP activists including Chris Renton who was actually the person who created the EDL website! What an irony.
  19. Go wash your mouth out with soap
  20. Yes, I'm pretty sure it was 1978. I'm not sure if there were fences when Millwall came to the Dell in Feb 1978 as there was a whole load of trouble but there were when Spurs came in May 1978 on the final day of the season. As you rightly say though they weren't a whole lot of good since in spite of both teams being promoted the Spurs fans proceeded to tear them down. It may even have been the Millwall game which prompted the fences as I remember my Dad and I leaving our normal spot on the Archers Rd terrace and going to stand under the West Stand, certainly don't recall climbing any fences to do so !
  21. I don't blame him for playing in the IPL, he's hardly received the recognition ( and salary) he deserves from England and he only misses the 1st few weeks and at this stage in his career I think he is entitled to look towards his financial future. Some players are just natural captains, I don't think Dimi is one of them.
  22. Yes, but it is hard to captain a side when you are keeping wicket, the one player in the fielding side who really has to concentrate all of the time and is involved in the game more. I suggest it might be time next season to look at one of the younger players but I'll trust the Hants management to decide if they do that and if so who they choose.
  23. No, if you read my previous posts this is a point I have raised a lot recently. It's a slow pitch, Hants only got a wicket when Briggs bowled more than one over and Ervine who bowled long before Briggs not only went for a few but bowled several no balls as well. I repeat my comment above on the Worcs game that even allowing for the reluctance to use spin it makes no sense to bowl an all rounder ahead of a specialist bowler. Really what Yorks did has no bearing on what we do. Like Leicestersaint I think Dimi is a fantastic player for us but I'm not convinced as to his use of bowlers.
  24. I have raised exactly that point in several recent threads including the game v Worcs and Dimi insisted on bowling Ervine. Edit 2.1 overs for 19! --------------- Even though we are clearly in a fantastic position I'm really baffled as to why Ervine is still bowling, 4 overs for 31 now. -------------- So definitely not a case of being wise after the event!
  25. Me too !
