He had no need to get involved, what a prat!
-
My favourite non Saints player for many years. He's just the perfect professional, cannot recall him ever being involved in anything untoward, he's a manager's dream. I think any real football fan can only admire him, the goal he scored v Arsenal some years back in the FA Cup semi was simply magnificent. As for the game just finished watching the recording now and really glad I managed to avoid hearing the result. Some dreadful defending especially from City but the last 5 mins and the way the game ended was great to watch and how typical Giggs should set up Owen for the winner. Mark Hughes was so annoyed at the added time but it was pretty much spot on since the 4 added minutes started just as City scored and they did spend about a minute celebrating and then United made a substituton which automatically adds another 30 secs. At least the referee did not just pluck 7 minutes out of thin air!

As a hunch I think they might plump for Sussex v Notts just on the off chance Sussex produce a miracle. They might even show a CC2 match with Essex, Northants, Deby, Glamorgan and Leics all vying for 2nd place. Essex are currently 2nd and play Derbyshire so I would imagine they would consider that option ?

Your reputation preceeds you After 10,000+ posts you surely know how this board works by now!

Yes, I keep thinking it is 12 for a win rather than 14 which seems an odd amount to me! But indeed we are nicely placed to retain our CC1 status which as I mentioned earlier is pretty crucial really especially if we hope to sign one or 2 new players. I reckon with at least one new pace bowler ( Kabir Ali?) and several young players looking really promising we could have a chance of winning CC1 though of course Durham set the standard any team needs to match. However, beyond them most of the teams are pretty similar in strength. I can remember the 1973 CC title ( and we should have won it in '74) and 36 years is way too long!
-
Was thinking the same, with his pace I doubt many of the poor linesmen we seem to get would have a clue. Anyway, it is really pathetic to judge him so soon. So many overseas players take time to settle even in the PL.

Think it might be a boring fight, I doubt either fighter will come forward too much to be often, both naturally counter punchers. Can't really see why Marquez is 4/1 though I agree with St Marco a points win for Mayweather is the most likely outcome. I'm not intending to stay up till 2am never mind maybe 4am, one to record methinks.

Even more amazingly for the 1st time ever my prediction spot on.......no pun intended !
-
From what I have heard not the greatest performance but really the result was crucial so a 2-0 win whoever it is against will do me fine. It feels now as if our season is actually starting. What we need know are a few wins in a row, the team can but benefit from the confidence of a win.

Very easy, 139 all out. Ervine actually bowled very well 3/23 off his 8, Tahir 3/30 off 6.4.
-
2 to be exact and only then if Sussex get maximum points (20) from their last game. All out for 83 indeed and in less than 26 overs, a hat trick for Hoggard.

Seems little point as I'd have good money on it not coming to that ! Yorks are 147/2 v Sussex, a lead of 102. A draw looks most likely though if Yorks lose wickets it might set up an interesting finish on what I believe is a turning pitch. However, on the assumption it is a draw then not only would Sussex have to win their last game ( v Notts I think) and us lose they would need 3 more bonus points as well before wickets taken and runs scored were taken into account. Indeed even Lancs could enter the equation, they would have to at least draw to have a chance of overtaking us in their last game v Warwickshire. That's all assuming we lose and we are going to be as keen to win/draw as Yorks are so that should be an interesting game. In truth though it's very hard to see Sussex winning at Trent Bridge, the last match there Notts made 352, Yorks 256 and 519/8!

Only 10 runners I think.Results 1st Mister Manannan 15/8 2nd Puff 6/1 3rd Aalsmeer 16/1 Non Runners: Star Rover, Absolute Music (10 Run)
-
So you saved your £2!

Yorks are batting 2nd time around and are pretty much level with Sussex with all wickets intact, a defeat for Sussex would be just the job and just about relegate them I think but a draw would still leave them 2nd bottom.
-
No surprise, game drawn. Puts on 158 points, ahead of Lancs and I think we'll be well clear of either Sussex or Yorks depending on the result but still ahead of both of them whatever happens.
-
Already ran, 3.30 at Ayr. Finished 4th at 18/1 in a blanket finish for the places. Think it was beaten by a nose and a neck for 2nd and 3rd. Not sure if that is 100% correct but very tight though the winner was well clear.
-
That can happen but Griffiths was bowling from the other end so that would not explain it I don't think. Another mystery !
-
Ah well, a draw will still leave us with a nice cushion regardless of the Yorks v Sussex result.
-
Oh yes, 8 overs in 8 matches!
-
Vince has never bowled in 1st class cricket as far as I know !
-
How very odd, Durham 4/0 off 1, Vince bowls the first over. Are they planning to set up a run chase :smt102
-
400 was always a long shot, only 55 behind so a good recovery from 114/4. Benham, Pothas ( as always) and Ervine all did very well.
-
365/7 off 117.3. Ervine 62 off 78.
-
Play resumed, 334/6 off 109, just 16 more for the 4th bowling point and 11 overs to do it which should be a doddle. We'd need 66 off 11 to get 5 batting points which is clearly far less likely.
