Greatest sporting achievement of all time?

What, you mean Foinavon Gosh you have a good memory ! -
Not exactly spoilt for choice are we ! I doubt England will change a winning team anyway except through injury and Bell is surely their reserve batsman.
-
If you are on FB you should see it here but the link includes my name so I'm not sure !! http://www.facebook.com/chrisobee?ref=profile#/englandcricket?ref=nf Edit : Yep, I think it works!

Could have been, no one seems to be sure!

As I said in an earlier post : Since we'll never know what would have happened if Strauss had enforced the follow on it's academic really. One thing it definitely would not have done was to guarantee at least a draw as who is to say the Aussies would not have scored 500+ and then left us chasing a difficult 4th innings target. You just have to say that if the Aussies can win from 128-5 it will be the finest win in Test Match history and if it happens I'd rather give them the due credit rather than rely on hindsight to say whether or not enforcing the follow on was right or wrong. For sure though it looked a very good decision at 128-5. In the end it is down to each persons opinion and as I stated clearly above I thought not enforcing the follow on was the correct decision. However, I do think declaring 1st thing yesterday was also correct.

Was going to be my next one! -
This might be the best of the lot !! Fred Truman would have a go at his own team-mates, never mind the other team, if he thought they'd done him wrong. After an outside edge flew through the legs of a slip fielder, the guilty party Raman Subba Row trotted up to apologise: "Sorry Fred, I should have kept my legs together." Truman responded, "So should your mother."

Lol, one from Ian Botham: Ian Botham came to the crease and Aussie 'keeper Rod Marsh said cheerfully: 'How's your wife and my kids?' Botham is said to have replied: "The wife's fine. The kids are retarded."

From an article in the Independent: http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/cricket/howzat-the-best-insults-in-cricket-1733531.html?action=Popup&ino=5 My favourites: During the Lords Test of 1989, Australian fast bowler Merv Hughes was in the middle of a purple patch and beating the bat regularly. Frustrated as another slid by the edge of the bat of England batsman Robin Smith, Hughes snarled: 'Mate, you can't bat'. Naturally, Smith despatched the next ball for four and responded, "Hey Merv, we'd make a fine pair. I can't bat and you can't bowl." During the 1991 Adelaide Test, Javed Miandad had said publicly that Hughes looked like a fat bus conductor. Big Merv dismissed the Pakistani soon after, running passed the batsman yelling, "Tickets please!" Sri Lankan skipper Arjuna Ranatunga was not the most popular figure on the international circuit, and was perhaps most unpopular with the Australians (perhaps because he did rather well against them). One occasion, the great spinner Shane Warne was trying to lure the comfortable figure of Ranatunga down the pitch and was being frustrated by Ranatunga's unwillingness to be tempted. Wicketkeeper Ian Healy piped up: "Put a Mars Bar on a good length. That should do it."

On the subject of horse racing Red Rum has to be mentioned, 3 Grand National wins is phenemonal and captured the imagination even of those with little or no interest in horse racing. Even my Mum has heard of Red Rum and that says it all though she does know of MLT as well !! -
No, I'm glad I dropped Flintoff and Swann, as I said before my tranfers always backfire so I'm wondering who else I can drop from the England team for the next match and then watch them score mega points !! I might well pick Lee if he is fit and watch him get hammered !!
-
I'm wondering just what heinous crime LM committed for people to give him stick but then some people just love to slag off our all time greats ( even MLT of course). Credit to Micky Channon for keeping well out of it, I suspect he knew the consequences of getting involved with the club after his playing days though of course he was able to turn his hand to his real profession rather than remaining involved with his hobby. Smart man our Micky, still want a knighthood for him, he deserves it more than 1000's of people who have been awarded it though bless him I think he might find being called Sir Michael a bit embarrassing !

Yes, I have been a great fan of athletics since the 60's. Not sure I have ever seen a performance to match that and then to break the brilliant Michael Johnson's 200 metres world record was quite extraordinary. -
Big dent in the sofa ?? Hope you bought plenty of rabbit food otherwise you might not get on the plane for Saturday Another great day to look forward to !
-
Not sure I agree Clarke is arrogant TBH. Played a tremendous innings and credit where it is due.
-
Question for me now is whether to reinstate Flintoff and Swann. Lost me big points at Cardiff but would have scored well for me at Lords. Really tough being a selector

Kelly Holmes winning 2 golds at the 2004 Olympics. Usain Bolt doing the same in 2008 AND breaking 2 world records. Daley Thompson winning gold in 1980 and 1984 in the Decathlon. Ed Moses winning an incredible 122 consecutive races in the 400m hurdles plus 2 Olympic titles and would have been 3 in row apart for the US boycott in 1980. -
You'll have plenty of chance to see it again !!!

That is rare for a Saints fan
