  1. I think we can be as excited about the next seven days in the transfer market as we can going back to when we first moved to SMS and suddenly started getting linked with all sorts. We thought we where going to be the new Middlesborough signing all the foriegn talent! I honestly think that we approach each transfer as a business dealing purely. We agree a fee, they have a sit down with Nigel and Nicola we tell them of the vision and how they will fit in, then I would hope they get the third degree to check they are hungry and want to play for us, then they are offered terms and then a medical. It's not like signing for Man City where we can afford a £25 million pound bench warmer. I think the first step is scouting from there on it goes from football to business. If we are not happy with it as a business transaction it doesn't happen. I hope they are business based deals as we do not need to make rash signings.

    Sam Baldock

I would definitely want him. He is performing well in a league we where in last year and have found the first four games of the season to be at a similar level. I see no reason why not and it would keep DC and RL on their toes with Barny and Baldock ready to step in. I would much rather him than Maynard or Jay Rod if we have to pay more than £4.5 mil for either of them. He has a point to prove. So too does Ryan Lowe at Bury another one I would love to see in a Saints shirt. We have a great squad an experienced centre half such as Gorks and a young hungry striker and I would like to see us top half and being in the mix for the play offs.
  3. Good player but think he could be disruptive on the team spirit. I would rather have players who are happy to come in like Fox and de Ridder and earn there places. I don't think Beckford would be happy starting on the bench to prove his worth. I think the players we had last year haven't done anything wrong and have been excellent so we have to be careful about who we buy to make sure they are the right fit. In Nigel and Nicola I trust!
  4. Pompey lost 1-0 lol!
  5. Aparently this guys twitter account said it was at Staplewood. I thought we did all of them at Solent University so this doesn't really stack up for me.
  6. The world has gone mad! £15M!! I thought Theo showed more potential before he left us but lets see if Alex can make an impact at that level in his first season. I am not that bothered as I was when Theo left, it is a different situation as now we have a replacement in de ridder already and Guly looked good down the right last year. We have conducted this in the right way and he has left on our terms at the begining of the season. This shows how much we have come on as a football club and are now being run very well as a business! Well done Saints COYR!!
  7. Not really the corporate season at the moment with a lot of people on holiday. Things tend to pickup mid September. Also I still think that it is overpriced better options to take clients to the cricket or out in the Solent. It's cheaper and you get more chance to do business.
  8. I thought he did well. I think he could have been given more protection especially Fonte and one of the central midfielders dropping giving him more options when he had the ball. I would keep playing his development will accelerate with the confidence of being a first team player. Often at that age players have to adapt physically but he could more than hold his own and he defensive play was excelent. Keep him in the team!
  9. Lol no thanks. Seen him play for Fulham lots of endeavour but lost that yard of pace. I would rather have players with a point to prove not those who are just living in the past glory days. I think he would be another Andrei Kanchelskis maybe that’s a bit harsh. Also I think wages wise he would be on a lot and would rather see another come in from Europe like De Ridder on lower wages and take a chance. Our scouting network and investment in the youth setup would be brought into question if we started going after players like Duff.
  10. Macheda will either stay at United and get games in the league this year or go to a Serie A club and make a name for himself over there. United would be unlikley to loan him out to the championship unless he needs games if he gets injured and has a spell out. I saw the highlets of Unt in a pre season friendly in the US and he scored 2 goals and Alex said he had a big future and was hopeful he would progress at United. I would love to be proved wrong but think we should aim our sights at players we can develop into the finished article. Our scouting system is a lot better so I am hopeful in the next 18 months we will start to see the fruit of this!
  11. It's google and will find a topic relevant to what you browse the web for most of the time. If you hoover over it you will see http://googleads.g.doubleclick.net/....
  12. Saints plug midfeild with the addition of Cork I know you said Good headline but thats all I could come up with!
  13. I think £3m for a 25 year old striker in the Championship is about right. I wouldn't want to see us pay much more but if he continues to perfom at the level he has then he would be a massive asset. If his goals take us in and around the play offs it would represent great value!
  14. Agreed.
  15. This debate is had every two weeks in the closed season. Two points: 1) it is pointless and 2) nobody has a clue on likely premiership attendances
  16. You have hit it on the head. If you can't afford it then don't get a ST just go when you can afford too. All these people winging about instalments plans is mad. As a business the club reserve the right to charge however they feel appropriate. While I don't want us to lose fans people seem to be taking an instalment plan for granted when there is a real cost to the club for having this facility.
  17. I like that too especially if the logo and umbro badge where moved to the left and right.
  18. That is excactly as you would expect. Poeple honestly don't think the club is running in the black at the moment? Therfore the money injected needs to be shown in some format and this gives no clue how that injection has been made. For all we know there maybe a seperate trust fund setup for the club, from Markus's estate. Realistically we will never know but from player trading and training ground redevelopment I get the feeling that we have nothing to worry about. Finance is Nicola's area and I trust him and am not going to worry about something I can 1) never know the full details and 2) never have any influence on. If Nicola comes and asks me for a fiver I will let you all know.
  19. I am sorry but who cares really? The important thing is that it is comercially the best decision for the club. Who cares if we have Apple, IBM, Nike whatever on the shirt it is a sponsor get a grip what where you expecting NASA? If you have major issues go and see your GP. Otherwise lets concentrate on getting behind the team and the club and trying to get back to where we belong. If we get back to the Premiership are you going to winge about what the logo looks like. I am not, I don't care. Rant over!
  20. Cortese was there to looking for people with camera phones to confiscate them for breaking the media curfew
  21. I am quite optimistic, the Cherries have a tough trip to Exeter away followed by us at home and Carlisle away then home to Charlton. If we get a good win away then we have nothing to fear come Saturday and we could put a good run together. I think March is where we can kick on. Even if we don't quite make the auto's we will have good momentum for the play offs. Yeovil won't be easy but another solid well-disciplined display like Saturday will give them a lot of problems.
  22. Tim Sparv might be worth a shout too. He seems to be growing into a better player since he left.
  23. I thin Brian Howard could just about sneak in too, he left us about 10 years ago. I guess Matt Oakley is too far outside the 10 year bracket but deserves a mention.
  24. Apparently we beat a few Serie A clubs to the signing. Again to me good signing can play in the Championship well done SFC! I think the fee of £1m was agreed in the loan contract as an option.
