Ha, I had the same thought. After 9 hours drinking, receiving therapy after watching Matt Coles bowl, and then spending 2 hours getting verbal abuse from a Lancashire fan dressed as Fred Flintstone I have to be honest my first thought wasn't....'oh I must share this experience on Saintsweb!'

Ha, I was there yesterday. I think people are being a little unfair. The core of yesterdays team, have got us to 5 final days on the trot, so my gut feeling is they do care. Yesterday was a nightmare, although I think coming off for 45 mins when we hade them 5-2 benefitted them as they had time to regroup. I hate to single out one player but......Matt Coles...oh dear he had a nightmare. I think it was obvious after two of his overs he wasm't up to it, we were all suprised Vince didn't put Ervine, himself or even Shah on. Coles mind was scrambled, he could barely let go of the ball in the fourth over, hence two wides, Great day though, Edgbaston staff amazing. Sad to say it only took me 45 mins longer to get to Edgbaston, than to get to the Rosebowl...and I live in Southampton! Great access to the ground.

Smashed out about 2k cycling from Upper Shirley to the CO-OP and back. Pretty uneventval, except when someone yelled at me for cycling on the pavement.

Yeah, heard his comments, totally hacked off, threw out my son's shirt with Rickie's name on it.didn't want to but i'm so ****ed off with him ( Rickie Lambert, not my son) i'd be happy if I never have to clap eyes on him again (Rickie Lambert, not my son) i feel he's totally betrayed by him(Rickie Lambert, not my son) i actually wish me & his mother had never had him ( my son, not Rickie Lambert)

Yeah I dont have a problem with not enforcing the follow on. If they had got 370, then a chase of 180 on a fourth day wicket might have been tense. I suppose the only concern would be the weather. If we lose some play then we may end up regretting not putting them in again.

Yeah me too, but he's just taken a wicket! Really important we win this one, also good momentum for next week 20/20 final (which i'm going to, last time I went to a Hants final was 1991, that was a great day)
-
Yeah, good effort Hants. I'll be honest our bowling line-up terrifies me. They are going to have to perform out of their skins I reckon. Surely Surrey will steamroller Leicester so a win would be handy! (we've got Leicester next)

If I worked in an office and I openly admitted I was not working as hard as last year my boss would sack me. Why is it different for footballers?
-
Marian didn't really play a bit-part for us he scored 43 goals in 143 games. He was my sons hero for about 7 years!

Ha! To be honest I didn't think my post made any sense. I've just always wanted to do that thing where people use a work Analogy on a football forum. Like when Ashley Cole used that air rifle, and people were typing, 'yeah but If I shot the Temp who does the photocopying in my officce........ Surely i'd be sacked?..why is it diferent for a footballer?'
-
If I was unhappy at work and wanted to leave, would my firm just let me go? Why is it any different for footballers?

To be fair chasing down 321 under lights im mid-August whem it starts getting a bit damp in the air takes some effort! At this point we need 20 off two overs, win or lose not many teams would get that close. My theory is Hants wouldnt mind giving this competition a miss. I think it's all about promotion this year. If I was Vince I wouldn't want another year in division 2, harder to get your England call-up.

Fair play fellah! Good to see you and your boy had a change of heart! Next time though take sanswiches. Those hot dogs will catapult you into the coronary high risk bracket by the time your 55! And lets face it we're gonna need all the fans we can get soon!
-
Ha! So we agree you are a whinger! In the boycott the game thread you started you moaned about the club milking fans for money. Heres a tip...don't buy a hot dog at a grossly inflated price....hope this helps!
-
Jeez mate, you were asking us in another thread to boycott the game. Then you turn up and moam about the lack of food. You do seem a bit of a whinger. No offence.

Had to listen to it on5 live. There was the usual anti Hants attitude ( god knows why this is) it was like a wake after the game. 30 mins post mortem of how Notts lost the game. Interviewd a couple of Notts players. I think the may have mentioned us just before finishing the show. God knows what sky will be like with David Lloyd & us playing Lancs! 5 finals on the trot, amazing achievement! Imagine if Surrey or Yorkshire had achieved this, youd never hear the end of it! (yes i do have a chip on my shoulder!)

I remember watching football in the late 80's/ early nineties. Bit of banter, beer before the game, cop some abuse from away fans, police treating you like cattle...me and my mate watched Saints v Oldham at the Dell once with about 11,000 others. The rain was falling sideways. We were ****. We lost. We moaned about it for a bit, then got drunk in The Old Oriental & never spoke of it again. Today some blokes got the hump because our new shirt is handwash. Somewhere in the distance a cow moos. How did it come to this?
-
Yeah, if I'm honest I agree. I imagine it was a commercial decision. I suppose if you are trying to attract clients mentioning The Shane Warne reception, is going to ring more bells than the Peter Sainsbury reception. I was really cynical when they did that. In my opinion Shane Warne is the greatest bowler ever, but in terms of his contribution to Hants, I never have felt comftable with it, & no one will ever convince me otherwise. The named a road after the two Marshall's, those two were Hampshire through & through.

Errr corrEction to above....over 4000 wickets between them!
-
I didn't see my first game until 1979, so never saw him, but he's one of those mythical figures like Shackleton or Mead, where you look at their stats & it's mind boggling. How many games did the used to play a season? Shacklton & Sainsbury took about 3500 wickets between them!
-
I know, to be honest it ****es me off a bit, all I hear is this new board are going to be different & open, but here we are with the new season just around the corner and we've got a squad with the majority having initials front loaded towards the start of the alphabet.
-
I dont think we should be too hard on Hants, what they've achieved in the last 4 years in one day cricket has been pretty amazing. I just think other teams have caught up with us. Ervine looks like a player who needs a new challenge, bit like Jesty & Tremlett in the past, I wouldn't mind him leaving, even though he still has loads to offer. Team at a crossroads at the moment, desperately need some young talent. If I was Vince & I didn't get promoted, I would look to leave for a Div 1 side. Hard to get picked for England in Div 2
