Thanks for the suggestions but I am unable to get to safe mode. I've also tried taking out the memory cards and replacing one at a time but still no joy. Looks like the MB may have some sort of manufacturing fault.As I said this laptop has had hardly any use from new .

My sister-in-laws laptop has stopped working and some help would be appreciated.It is out of warrenty but has had very little use. The fan runs and the screen backlight comes on but no cursor or any other activity on the screen.I have tried it without the battery-on mains supply only-but no difference. I have tried booting it from the disc but I assume from my searchs on the internet it may be the motherboard that is faulty.
