  1. Dan Quayle, is that you?
  2. I like opera, and I'm technical middle class. Reckon I've been downgraded for hanging out with software designers.
  3. Fair enough. Left back it is then.
  4. How about this as a role for Chaplow: as a midfield substitute, in one of those games where all our Lallana/Ramirez fancy dan trickery is getting us nowhere and we're crying out for a bit of directness.
  5. I don't know whether to laugh or puke.
  6. It's a fine line between loyalty and obsequiousness.
  7. Good on you Diggers, well put.
  8. Not really sure what to believe on that score. Was sacking the manager mid-way through the season part of the 'five-year plan'? And, if he really thought Adkins wouldn't cut it in the prem, why did he have a contract till 2016?
  9. Not true. The fans are directly and indirectly the major source of income. It's just that they are taken for granted, on the assumption that they will carry on turning up whatever.
  10. He took a job that happened to be occupied by someone else. Someone who had just orchestrated 2 successive promotions and was busily steering his team towards mid-table of the PL. I know this is a bit old-fashioned of me, and it's probably unfair to criticise someone just for taking a job when out-of-work. But I just think he could have showed a little solidarity towards a fellow manager.
  11. Sounds a bit 'Double Dutch' to me. Worrying times.
  12. Aside from the rapacious asset-stripping, the issue seems to be whether Chainrai was effectively a director during both recent administrations. According to Hall's article the answer is 'yes', which would indeed cause issues with the FAPPT.
  13. If Guly had a 'must play when fit' clause, then he would always play when fit, but he doesn't, so he hasn't. HTH.
  14. £15k - you can buy a lot of tracksuits and polo shirts with that. I wonder how much of it will end up in Appy's fund for overpaid benchwarming journeymen?
  15. For some reason this puts me in mind of Ensor's 'Two skeletons fighting over a pickled fish':
  16. Never mind the FL, why would any decent player sign under these conditions if they have a prospect of a longer-term contract elsewhere? They should probably get themselves some new agents. Unless of course, there are some clauses inserted guaranteeing automatic extension if some minimal conditions are met. But this is Pompey we are talking about, they wouldn't be so dumb, would they?
  17. You see, they DID have a team all the time. Don't know what Appy was complaining about.
  18. 6.7 Academy Costs PST plan to maintain the academy at category three. The effectiveness and cost of the academy would then be closely monitored and reviewed throughout the first two seasons, with a decision made on the future of the academy by the beginning of the 2014/15 season. The forecasts show no cost in the 2014/15 season for the academy, as it is believed that the board will have decided the Academy is too costly to run by this point. "Quality over quantity" again?
  19. Great idea! Can just imagine the Trust singing to the creditors: "I'd do anything for you, dear, anything for you, dear, anything for you!" "Would you clean my shoes?" "Anything!" "Paint your face bright blue?" "Anything!" "Catch N****wo Kanu?" "Anything!" "Pay your debts in full?" "Erm maybe not."
  20. Except they weren't, in this case. According to the Guardian article, the judge at the inquest ruled that the previous allegations should not be disclosed: http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2012/jul/19/simon-harwood-disciplinary-proceedings
  21. Also known as 'the new away strip'.
  22. I hear Triglav are looking for a new keeper. It might not quite have the atmosphere of fortress fratton, but the views are terrific.
  23. "Financially and morally bankrupt"...for sure. "The incompetence of others"...not even sure what that means. Try "The venality and hubris of owners, employees and fans" instead.
  24. Why shouldn't UnAppy be allowed to work under the same restrictions as Clotterill? After all it worked out so well for all concerned last time.
  25. Ooh, well done you! But, if you don't mind me saying so, you come across as a little bit needy on that messageboard.
