yes - got an email last wednesday I think
-
Ok I think it is and not really worth the risk

The idea of a friendly at Millwall is lunacy
-
Although it was Niemi's injuries that cost us, especially in the crucial month of November 2004
-
yes Jimmy Case was about £30k. Which was nominal even in 1985
-
Was this relationship marked in any way when the two clubs met in the UEFA Cup in 71?
-
When I see him I think of agent Potter from Sons of Anarchy
-
I absolutely love KWP and wish him only the best. But I think he should have aimed higher
-
Chippenham's website has a fixture against Saints listed. I guess it must be the U21s
-
I think you are largely right on that. Charlie George for example, brilliant player but we seldom got the best out of him. Perhaps David Armstrong was our best ever big money signing - it was big back in 81 as he chose us over Manchester United. You could also cite Rickie, as that was a lot for a League One team to pay.

why are all the games on the second to last day of the season on a Sunday?
-
Very disappointed that the club hasn't organised a special fixture unveiling event where they are handed out to supporters in sealed envelopes to be opened at 9.00 am

There are some reasons for hope. Forest only won their playoff through incompetent refereeing and have survived two seasons while being pretty poor. Yes they made a huge number of signings but you could argue they survived in spite of their scattergun approach rather than through it. And they will be poor again. Not all the teams that had sound seasons will do so well again - at least one of Wolves, Fulham, Brighton, Bournemouth, Palace are likely to struggle. Ipswich will be undone by VAR that will see Morsy notching up the red cards. Leicester could have a significant points deduction. I am discounting Everton as they remain the unflushable turd. It is likely that 36 points or possibly even less could be enough for survival, which is doable if we make St Mary's a stronghold.

How is it a mashup when it features shirts we never wore? - the stripes on the real shirts were much thicker. Although I would quite like to see an actual shirt with those thinner candy red and white stripes.

If we can keep Adams for a reasonable wage its a fairly safe option as we know what he can (and cannot) do in the Premier League. So it makes sense, assuming that we are also looking for another striker.

Being hailed by the media as a model of how to run a club is a sure sign of impending disaster. It happened to Saints in 2003 after the cup final, then again after the Koeman/Puel era.

Watson left in January 82 and Wright arrived in March 82 - how great it was when he had a transfer deadline but no windows
-
Failure. As it always will be while Southgate is in charge.

I would also factor in Brighton, Bournemouth and Wolves as teams that could struggle. Even though they were untroubled last season it doesn't take much more than a poor choice of managers or bad transfers to drag you down, as we saw in the decline from a very comfortable finish in 2016/17 to a lucky escape in 2017/18. And who knows what West Ham will be like?

I asked Andrew Cowan about this when the ground was being planned. Three sides have the foundations to allow for an expanded capacity. But not the Itchen. The capacity was determined at its current size not by what Saints wanted but what the council would allow in terms of the impact on traffic, with the provision that if the traffic was found not to be a problem we could expand. Saints could have built a higher roof from the start to allow seats to be added later - like MK Dons did. But it was felt that the stadium would start out looking odd, and if we never expanded would be a constant source of meockery.

While I would love the Lavia we knew to come back, he has played only 1 game for Chelsea. How bad was the injury that caused him to miss the end of the season?
-
I would not take Phillips on a free

Southampton 1-0 Leeds - Saints are Promoted!!

I did enjoy the Championship. But it is such a grind going to every game. 46 matches is just too much. So it will be such a relief to have a much more sensible schedule. -

Can I remind everyone that both teams are competing for the richest prize in world football - not having to play at Fratton Park next season -
And a Spitfire could equally have flown over the Hawthorns since a large number of Spitfires were built in the Midlands
