This is a very pedantic point but we did get a trophy for second place in 2012.

The sad thing is that continuing in this league as we are is just an unsustainable dream. If we fail to go up the side will be picked apart and we will be stranded with no money, ending up like Stoke. I would far rather lose regularly in the Premier league than lose regularly in the Championship.

There are quite a few as the ground is only a few minutes walk from the town centre. The Oddfellows is the designated away pub usually, but is closed for the moment. The Mooon Undewater is a Spoons used by home and away fans

There's this chap in the Turkish league I am hearing great things about - 7 goals in 9 games - maybe we should take a look at him?

How many of them used non-existent pubs as collateral for business loans? How many were banned in the High Court from holding company directorships for 7 years?

I wonder if part of the issue on Saturday was that the team was made to warm up at the opposite end of the ground, while Huddersfield warmed up in front of us. So that the connection you usually get before a game was never made.

Lower is probably best. Upper tier awful unless you are right at the front. The stadium is a deathtrap, got caught in a massive crush on the concourse. Its not worth £37.

I hope that Saints decline wearing black arms or holding a celebration for the corrupt crook Venables

Many years back I had to buy a laser printer and fax machine for work. When a salesman proposed Sharp I said I absolutely would not entertain that brand. When he asked why I told him it is because they sponsor Manchester United. He refused to accept this and kept asking what the real reason is. I told him it was the real reason, just like I would never buy Crown Paints...

I love KWP. He has been my favourite player for a few years. But find it hard to see how we can keep him, especially with his current form. He should be playing for a top six Premier League team rather than knocking around in the Championship.

I guess there is no chance of it sticking. And also annoying that it probably will not be enough to send them down

I have high hopes of Amo-Ameyaw. But he needs some game time. Perhaps we could get him out on loan in January.

I think you have to go back to November 1958 for a game against a proper non league team when we played Woking. Incidentally, we have never been drawn against Leeds in our history.

Luton were non-league when we beat them at St Marys

Keegan never played for us against QPR. We didn't play them between 79 and 83. Could it have been the 1-0 win away in Feb 79?
-
What was going on the away stand before the game? I was in row B of the upper tier and for the first 15 minutes there was a stream of fans passing in front of us who had been directed up the left side rather than coming up the main stairway.

We have just celebrated the 40th anniversary of the real death of football - October 2 1983 when Spurs v Forest was the first game on TV as part of the new deal. The TV companies conspired then to put all the money in the hands of the Big Five by covering their games regularly. But Saints went 7 years, from 1984 to 1991, without being shown once. I worked out that the TV coverage gave Liverpool a £1million advantage over Saints before a ball was kicked every season. That may seem nothing now when we can spend £20 million on a player who doesn't play. But back then £1million would buy you Gary Lineker. SKY in 92 just speeded up a process that was already well underway.

He has also coached a team to victory at St Mary's already. Think the 2-0 win in December 2008 was his last game before being sacked as Forest manager

League Cup Final 2017, FA Cup Semi 2018 and 2021 shows that winning a cup is possible even for Saints.
-
I miss the Premier League because we have to be in it to stand any hope of winning the FA or League Cup.

Played 34 games in 2005/6 and was top scorer. So he wasn't always injured.

I don't think anyone has mentioned the ridiculous referee Mr Eltringham. In the second half when we had a corner on the left the home fans were shouting about the placing of the ball. He listened to them and ran over to check and found nothing. In fact I am not sure I have ever seen a referee ask for the ball to be moved because it can apparently be a long way out of the quarter circle and technically still in. Then when we had another corner he listened to them again and checked - and found nothing wrong. How can a referee be allowing the home crowd to influence him so much? When we had a corner on the right in front of the Saints fans we invited him to check the positioning, but he declined.
-
If he was playing for a transfer it didn't work two seasons in a row. Think it is more a case of a player who can vary considerably in form. Let's see if he suddenly gets better in December

Saints 1-1 Rotherham - Match Thread
Kenilworthy replied to Lee On Solent Saint's topic in The Saints
And acquired by Rotherham on a free. Shows there are quality keepers for Championship level available at not much cost. In contrast with the expensive Bazunu.
