  1. Knee injuries did dog his career but he managed 31 games for Saints and 3 for Ipswich in the 2005/6 season which is a reasonable record
  2. Yes there is no increase in capacity from safe standing because it is still actually a designated seat per person
  3. After his loan to Ipswich he came back a completely different player - six goals in six games. Always felt he should have been kept on to continue the partnership with Rasiak that would have seen us doing better than just scraping into the playoffs
  4. Fuller actually did a job for us in avoiding relegation. Belmadi was a wonderfully skilled player but as I recall too fragile for the Championship
  5. I thought Saints were the only team capable of letting a 4 goal lead slip
  6. January 2015 win at Newcastle on Saturday evening on TV to complete three away wins in a week. Also loved the 3-1 demolition of Villa and Grealish at Villa Park followed by the 2-0 win at Chelsea.
  7. Until a few weeks ago I wanted Leeds to stay up. But God I hate Big Sam so much I wouldn't mind Everton staying up now.
  8. When Ralph was sacked we had 12 points from 15 games. That would be 30 points and relegation over the season. That form came on the back of 1 win from the last 12 games of the previous season. To say he was getting the job done is rather generous. The massive mistake we made was going into this season with him still in charge.
  9. Best keep Friday August 4 free for the televised game
  10. I will renew for myself and my two boys. I can't help myself and have got used to disappointment on disappointment having followed Saints since 1969. Honestly think next season will be a massive struggle. There are a lot of teams in the league we struggle against away like Bristol City, Norwich and Preston. My primary concern is that we don't get relegated again.
  11. Its a good analysis. Also, unless you are very lucky (or Brentford) you don't get time to build a team in the Championship. Every season is a one-shot deal. Because if you come close to promotion but fail then you get stripped of your best players and have to start again.
  12. As I recall, Branfoot was absolutely insistent that we get Speedie as part of the deal, even though the player had no wish to join Saints - which became very clear on the pitch.
  13. It was Newcastle away in the FA Cup. Full respect to him. He did a reasonable job when experienced pros in the team bottled it.
  14. But maybe he was not too far wrong with the analysis? A few 0-0 draws rather than 1-0 defeats and we would be in with a reasonable chance. Ok you could say that they could have been 1-1 draws with good strikers.
  15. We could also include Colin Clarke, David Howells and Dexter Blackstock taking over in goal after the keeper was injured or red carded. A sight we will probably never see again with 5 subs allowed
  16. Last week inexplicable yellow card for KWP and S Armstrong given a yellow card for taking too long when being subbed when Newcastle players took just as long
  17. The one thing Saints have excelled in throughout the over 50 years I have been a supporter is in losing games that it should be near impossible to lose, like Forest at home and Grimsby in the cup this season. Even in the season we were runners-up the reason we were not champions is that we lost at home to Notts County, who finished 21st and lost at Luton, Leicester and Norwich - all terrible teams.
  18. When I went to the final I had only been watching Saints regularly since 1969, so I was lucky to see us win silverware at just 16. I have never expected us to win trophies on a regular basis, but would something every 20 years be too much to ask? Even Norwich and Ipswich have won more than we have.
  19. Even if tickets are cheaper individually the season is going to be more expensive overall as there are four more away games to go to. For the three of us with tickets, travel and parking etc its probably at least £500 extra
  20. As a perfect end to the evening, who thought it was a good idea to close the M3 without giving warning notices when you joined? Added an hour to my journey home
  21. What we could do is go into the last five games without the players we know will not stay for the Championship - JWP, KWP, Lavia etc. The performances from the players left could not be any worse
  22. This is without doubt the worst I have ever seen. The 2004/5 team had the potential to stay up under the right manager, but we had Arry. But let's not forget the many times they bottled it. However we now have a perfect storm of players who are not I believe absolutely poor, but only raise their game against what they see as big sides, and dreadful management. I have doubts that this side could survive the Championship.
  23. Where is the incentive for the Plymouth manager to join a team in the same division?
  24. Think Mark Robins might be one of those managers who fits a particular club, Coventry in this case, but can't do it elsewhere. He didn't pull up trees at Rotherham, Huddersfield or Scunthorpe. There is a possibility as well that they will win the play-offs
  25. On the news today, Huddersfield have set season tickets prices at a max £249 for all seats.
