Ok. Sounds awesome. 3 questions... How do I get the 4 gb mod? How do I install it? If it causes me issues, can I remove it again?
-
As a layman I can see that the game being able to use more memory is clearly going to be a good thing, how dramatic is the difference likely to be? I'm running windows 7 and have 6gb ram (I think)

I haven;t tried these suggestions to improve game performance yet but will do when I get home. Don't worry, no spoilers http://uk.pc.gamespy.com/pc/elder-scrolls-v/1212293p1.html

The thread will never die. Poppey may be liquidated A new club might be started in the blue square Former owners/directors might have been on trial.. ... But ho will still be coming back demanding to know why Dubai Philip once made a speculative comment about budgets.

I haven't got 4 away games but applied on the off chance. No e-mail yet but no tickets showing on my on-line account either so I guess I won't be going. Although I would rather be going I'm not that gutted really. It's not just the inconvenience of having to travel to Southampton first on the day but having to travel down twice (I don't have a ST), as I also have to pick up my coach ticket before the day, makes it such a pain in the ****. I'm sure I'll be more disapointed that I'm not there when I see the Saints fans going mental in the stands on the TV but as of right now... meh.

What are you public sector lot up to on Weds then?
Clapham Saint replied to JackanorySFC's topic in The Lounge
Yes. Mine. Well, sort of. Whilst at my previous employer the scheme was changed for existing members from "final salary" to "average salary". The contributions that I had made up to that point, (I was about 25) were treated as purchasing 1/80 (or whatever it was) of my current salary, rather than (as I had expected when I made the payments), the salary that I would have been earning imeadiately prior to (hopefully) making partner. A considerable difference. I wasn't impressed so understand why the strikers are upset, but ultimately the alternative was that the pension scheme liability risked bringing the company down. -

This is very simplistic and whether intentional or not, presents a misleading picture. Virtually every pension scheme will have received more in contributions than it has paid out in benefits. The issue isn't how much has been paid out so far but the obligations that have been accrued obliging the scheme to make payments in the future. Ignoring the current value of these obligations results in only looking at half the picture. I have no idea what the value of the liabilities are (and neither do the NUT from the look of that statement) but claiming that a scheme must be solvent because more has ben paid in than has been paid out just suggests a lack of understanding of pension scheme finances. -
I'd wager that wouldn't come close. If somebody can be bothered to download their accounts we could get a reasonable idea.

I can't see that they will get the points deduction yet. The holding company structure is the West Ham "model" rather than Southampton Leisure Holdings. That said I can't see that they can possibly be anything other than loss making and massively cash negative so it's just a matter of time until they go again. I for one really don't want them to disappear altogether (which I think has to be a serious possibility). I really f**king hate them but that's half the fun!

The fact that it's one copy. If students are studying it (or any book for that matter), then fine they will need a number of copies (more than 1) but this is sending out a book that hasn't been requested and if it is needed will almost certainly have already been bought. THe only difference with this copy is that Gove has written a 2 line forward.
-
It's a vanity project for Gove, nothing more.

Every school in the country having 1 bible (what on earth are they going to do with 1 bible?! - if it is a C of E school they will already have one), or a struggling school (of which there are many) getting a new classroom/new desks/sporting equipment/whatever. I voted conservative and would again if there was an election today, but this is a stupid idea which will cost money and achieve nothing. Granted £300k (or whatever it is) isn't much in the scheme of the education budget but that's not the point.

Football Manager 2012 - updates thread

What's the tactic? -
During a time of austerity (in particular), there are greater priorities.

very good

I've just got there. Dark elf nasty assasin type concentrating on sneaking up behind enemies and cutting throats. Second specialism is destruction (ice) magic. Whilst I'm hidden I'm awesome but with skills spread a bit wider and I can be a bit exposed against strong enemies (snow bears) once they close me down. One-handed, desrcruction, light armour and archery are all 50-60 (am level 21). I've also done a bit of enchanting but not much. Feeling as though I could have been a bit more focused in my leveling but its actually quite hard not to gain a few points of "non-core" skills.

I completely agree with them that the ref was simply awful... however it is apparently their second charge already this season and their disciplinary is woeful.

Good call on the book marks! Thanks I doubt the speed reduction is (only) down to AVG. She does install an aweful lot of sh*te...
-
Mrs CS's laptop has ground to a near halt. It's about 2 years old and the speed is almost certainly down to all the c**p she has installed on it in that time. I've suggested that she do a factory restore (or whatever its called) and reinstall just the things she's actually going to use/need. This obviously means that I'm going to be the person who actually does the restore and so I'm keen to make sure I minimise the massive amount of aggro which will come from her losing something that she wanted. What are the obvious pitfalls? I will make sure that I back all of her documents ( the "my documents, my music, my pictures etc. folders). I'll need to re-install office but we have a cd for that. Things like firefox and AVG I can download and put onto the portable drive beforehand ready to install. With office what's the deal on reinstalling? We've had this version for a while and I installed it (and re-installed it) on an old machine of mine which failed. If we have reached th limit on the number of installs do we have to buy again? Surely not? Sorry a bit of a ramble there but if there's anything obviously that I'm likely to muck up any advice much appreciated. CS

Each to their own obviously, however... I do think its a shame that people will go out of their way to see a coke lorry just becuase it was used in christmas adverts. Feeling Christmassy shouldn't be about Multi-national advertising. That said am I correct in thinking that Father christmas was never depicted in in a red and white outfit until Coke's marketing team got hold of him?

I have hospitality tickets for this one. When I booked 2 months ago I was told that there were now (then) only 8 Gold package seats left

A former colleague of mine did it. Said it was one of the most boring things she'd ever had to do. I think it's a LOT less interesting than you'd hope in 99.9% of cases (pun intended)
-
I haven't but a former housemate of mine had it. She insists that it's the best thing she has ever done.
