Thanks Dog. Happy to answer but... RCBO? MCB?

Hmmm... Out house was fully refurbed by the previous owners so I don't think (or at lease hope!) it is the wiring. Actually, why does old wiring cause bulbs to blow. Does it allow a greater load?

Also I didn't mean to post this on the main board! Maybe a mod can move it? Thanks CS

I bit of a hot in the dark but does anybody on here an electrician/have experience with lighting? We moved into our house just under 18 months ago and have had no end of problems with the spotlights, although those in the kitchen are by far the worst. Initially we had "normal" (I think Halogen) spotlights but after they blew at a rate of about 1.5 a month we had an electrician (who was helping on something elsewhere in the house) take a look. He couldn't see a problem but suggested that we buy some special led lights which are guaranteed for 10 years instead. They're a LOT more expensive but apparently should last. 6 months down the line and 3 of these lights have now also blown and this is now getting silly. Does anybody have any idea what might be causing this? I suspect I'll probably need to get another electrician out but given that the last guy couldn;t find a problem and I'm calling somebody out to find an unknown problem I'm wary of somebody taking me for the mug that I am and charging me a fortune for coming out and "fixing" an invested issue only for me to be no better off (or am I too much of a sceptic?). These are the new bulbs. Supposedly guaranteed for 40,000 hours. http://www.amazon.co.uk/eSecure-White-Bright-Light-Energy/dp/B0044CSIOK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1317716285&sr=8-1 Thanks in advance guys, CS

He didn't celebrate his goal, however in the dying moments of that game Bent scored a last gasp winner. How did Mr Beattie react? I wouldn't say he didn't enjoy playing for us but I'd take his insistance (announced to the fans/media pre-game) that he wouldn't celebrate with a pinch of salt.

For my money is actions amount to a form of harassment and he fully deserves the punishment that he has received. What a prize c***

Pension Age Will Rise To 67 Sooner Warns MP
Clapham Saint replied to Saint in Paradise's topic in The Lounge
Hypo is right. It is a necessary evil.As people live longer and longer they can't expect to retire at the same age.If taken to the extreme, (and a little way off yet but stay with me), once the average life expectancy reaches 100, would it still be reasonable to retire at 55? You'd have worked for less than half your life. How could that possibly be viable. The retirement ages has to increase. I completely understand why some people who will fall just short of whatever cut off point is set will be annoyed, but the line has to be drawn somewhere and regardless of where/when that is there will be some who miss out on retiring earlier. -
Except that Portpin never signed anything that comits them to paying. IMO it was just spouting PR whilst it suited him with no intention of ever actually coughing up. All just IMO obviously.
-
The CVA stated that Portapin (or whatever th co is called) had undertaken to pay the sub £2,500 creditors and that when it had done so their claims would in the CVA would be considered to be settled. i.e. we've had a promise from Chinny to pay them but they remain in the CVA at the moment until he does so.
-
The charities will have been required to submit claim prior to the CVA vote. Unless there is a reason to dispute their claim after the event then the amounts are known. Given that the amounts of any dispute are likely to be small enough not to be worth spending hours and hours arguing about and that some (I think) were confirmed by the presentation of a huge cheque, I doubt that there are any disputes.

Wow! What a d*ck!

If you give directly to the charity you can also claim gift aid thereby reducing your tax bill... -

This isn't a high earner issue. This is the same (as you say) for somebody earning 10k 50k or 150k+.SP's comment was (as i read it) that the 50% band was justified on the bais that people earning this amount avoid loads of tax anyway. following your argument that people on 50k do the same, would it be 'fair' to increase the basic rate by 10% to cover these people?I would agree that this is more of an issue the higher the earnings but somebody on a salary plus bonus of over 150k is not going to be able to reduce their tax bill by much. They would have access to better advice on investment income though. -

That's way too simplistic. The majority earning 150k will do so from a straight salary on which the ability to utilise the type of tax planning that you are talking about is very limited -

Although does the Netherlands have a national insurance scheme? If you add e'ees NI the UK tax rate is 52% and so would be equal to the Netherlands. How about e'ers NI and the fact that the higher rate tax payer also loses their 0% band? Whether it be right or wrong, the top rate of tax is above the headline of 50%. -
Its all subjective I know, but am I the only one who thinks she would look much much more attractive without the tatoos?
-
I don't doubt you would but you probably would have got planning permission before building the house too.

However this phrase is top notch and should be used more often.

Very good BTF. :-)

It doesn't change the point that you are making but they actually only managed 3 subs... Maybe if they didn't pay they players they have so much they would be able to afford a few more of them.

I agree with Verbal.

1 - 0 down to Barnet. Barnet have had 64% of the possession. Only 2 outfield players on the bench Now where did I leave my violin...

I'm one of the few people in the world who can not abide tomato ketchup. F'ing revolting stuff! It amazes me that other people are so keen to smother almost any meal with it.
