I think this is the main thing. Berty is also (& this is arguable) one of our best options for left-sided centre-back in a '3 at the back'.

True. Can’t help but think The Echo laid the groundwork for Berty potentially leaving. Don’t see a top Prem side moving for him - so a prestige euro team would make sense.
