The Hammers are believed to be prepared to pay £30m up front, with add-ons taking the deal closer to his £40m release clause. West Ham have already had a £27m offer rejected and Carvalho is not in Sporting squad for tomorrow's first-leg Champions League qualifier against Steaua Bucharest.
