They where better than Chelsea the other week HTBH..

I thought he worked hard and put in a shift if I'm honest. Lets face we have a quite few players struggling to do the basics of their position (Hoedt and Cedric come to mind) so in the absence of ability I'll take hard work and commitment in our position.
-
Not sure about that. We spent a lot of time sitting deep in shape and allowing Bournemouth to play the ball around. We would occasionally change it up with a bit of pressing higher up. But for a lot of the game we seemed to be asking Bournemouth to try and break us down.

One of the things that was consoling me about relegation was the idea pompey might get promoted so we could have two proper derbies again next season...
-
That was more like it. For the first time in a long while the players really put in a shift and look liked they cared. The last few minutes saint's players where throwing their bodies into blocks and fighting for every ball to get the win... that hasn't happened in a while. Every player played their part today and while there where some issues (Cedric *Cough* Hoedt *Cough*) I'm just going to take some pleasure from a rare win and good team performance tonight. COYS

Bit unfair no one could accuse Romeu of not playing for the shirt always puts in a shift even if his end product can be dodgy.

I have a ST the only game I missed this season was West Ham at home. Than god I'm not a prolific away games guy to or it would be even more miserable Lowlights - pretty much every game this season (wolves in the league cup stands out though) Highlights - scrapping a draw against spurs and beating Everton

I think the article makes that pretty clear having given into the players over Puel the club didn't want to be seen to do so again The roots of the crisis can arguably be traced to the club’s willingness to listen to the senior players last season who expressed misgivings about the then manager Claude Puel. Five players are understood to have made their feelings known to the board about Puel’s tactical rigidity as Southampton’s season petered out with one win in their final eight league matches. It led to the Frenchman’s dismissal last June. While the club were helpless to prevent the unwanted departures of Mauricio Pochettino in May 2014 and Ronald Koeman in the summer of 2016, losing Puel was a self-inflicted wound from which they have not recovered. While not necessarily the wrong decision — Puel is now under pressure at his new club, Leicester — his sacking had far-reaching consequences that are still being felt. With hindsight the appointment of Pellegrino was a mistake, shown by the fact that the Argentine won just five of his 30 league games in charge to leave the club deep in relegation trouble, but having attracted criticism for dumping Puel last summer, Southampton then stuck with his successor for too long.

Well considering the issues given in article in the OP its hardly a surprise is it? I'm willing to give him a chance with a squad that's had the bad apples cleared out. At least with Hughes I can see what he is trying to achieve with the players at his disposal can't say the same with MoPe who didn't seem any sort of plan at all.

I'm still hoping Liverpool will buy him for 35million this summer...

I've been saying this for a while but the moment the club gave into Bertrand and co over Puel they gave themselves a massive problem. Player power at the club needs to be stamped out at least it looks like Hughes is willing to do that starting with Boufal.

You're kidding Hoj is one of the worst culprits when it comes to giving the ball away cheaply.
-
What? McCarthy might be not be a world beater but he is a huge improvement on Forster. If Long's confidence is shot you can say the exact same about Gabbi's. Also that midfield will give our **** poor defence no protection at all. TBH it really doesn't matter who starts now for whatever reason (confidence, given up or just useless) we have a squad full of players that are all playing so poorly that who ever plays in whatever formation it seems to make bugger all difference to the result.

I's sound downcast if I'd watch a million pound staying up bonus go up in smoke to...
-
God I wish we were just some rich oil Arabs weekend hobby. Sounds like the current lot bought us for a lot of reasons none of which involve funding us to the champions league sadly....thanks Kat

Ah the Danny Butterfield style of football (although in fairness he was pretty good at putting cross from deep into Lambert)
-
4 goals and 3 assists in all competitions over two seasons is not exactly awe inspiring in the department.
-
All horrible club PR against gentle, nice, upstanding footballers to make us fans hate them...
-
I very much doubt Boufal has the work ethic or attitude to be in a Poch team....
-
Are you suggesting all these players were desperate to stay and Les forced them to sign for the likes of Liverpool, Man U and Spurs?
-
Oh come on you've got to gives us a bit more than that... name and shame
-
So the club shouldn't sell anyone or let them leave on a free..... I reckon you should be our new DOF

Saints RELEGATED Liverpool WIN champions league
doddisalegend replied to Heisenberg's topic in The Saints
apparently Koeman didn't think there where any bids either but Saints boss Koeman insists the 23-year-old will be going nowhere anytime soon. "Rumours aren't important: we will sell nobody," the Dutcman said. -
Followed by us having to flog him for a knock down price because he only had a year left on his contract. Are you suggesting we made every player stay until the end of their contract and then walk on a free?
