Good forwards are a lot harder to find these days I think. People use to talk about having a 20+ goals a season striker in your team now anyone that good in the PL is out of most clubs budgets so unless you get lucky, like spurs, and get one come up through the ranks you are left getting the best you can in your budget to net 10-12 a season.

They also don't tell you about the quality of oppostion. Our game plan wasn't overly different to the one we've used all season at home.We still played one up, we still tried to play a possession game, we still passed backwards and sideways a plenty, we still played it to slowly at times and had we the lions share of possession. We weren't overloading oppostion box any more than normal ( Austin had two defenders on him for both his goals), we didnt put in more crosses than normal (better quality because of the amount of space and time the players got). The idea that we some how turned a corner yesterday and the manager suddenly got it right were he has been getting it wrong ( at home at least) is erroneous with better finishing we should have got similar results in several home games. We played the same as we have in almost every home game this season and got results because Austin knows how to finish and Everton where woeful. Our third goal, for example, was ridiculous Tadic slows the move down ( a pretty common occurrence this season) loses the ball and yet despite five blue shirts is able to retrieve the ball under no pressure and dink in a cross it wasn't even Sunday league level defending from Everton. Doesn't mean I didn't love every minute of Sundays game doesn't mean I don't think we didn't play well. But the idea some are putting forward the manager finally got it right after weeks of getting it wrong just doesn't work for me if anything I imagine MoPe feels totally vindicated that he has stuck to his style and formation.

The stats for all those games and yesterdays game are remarkable similar in all those games better finishing would have seen us out as comfortable winners (and a draw against man u). Finishing was the big difference on Sunday... well that and Everton played like a hungover Sunday league team.

His passing was the problem it went down hill as the season went on it felt like the harder he tried the worse he got until even a simple 5yard pass seemed to be beyond him.
-
He played under Pep a manager whose team has more backwards passing than any other team in team in the PL by a long shot so I doubt it was an issue seeing as he was coached by the worlds best possession football manager in Germany.

JWP enough said.

I'm not really sure it matters who we play in this one city are at a different level to everyone else in the league. They are good enough to play their way out of the press and good enough to open up deep sitting bus parking teams. I imagine MoPe will try the same plan we had against Liverpool and hope we don't concede and nick one. So I expect Long and Redmond in for the counter attack. What ever I can't see us getting any sort of result against city.

We had the worst conversion rate for shots to goals in the league last season and the other week we still had the worst conversion rate in the league. Our inability to take our chances has been our biggest issue (along with Forster) all season.
-
This he was quality for us the fact that it hasn't worked out else where doesn't change that.
-
This. We have had performances just as good at home this season against Swansea, Man U (second half), Newcastle, West Brom (where we should have been well ahead before Boufals wonder goal) and Burnely and come away with little or nothing due to **** poor finishing or lapses in defence. the big difference Sunday was that we took our chances and Everton were the worst team to come SMS in many years.
-
That probably depends on weather Hoj can play like that regularly. That performance sunday is, so far, a one off against a very poor team. Romeu on the other hand has generally been quality for much of the last year and Davis is also scoring goals from midfield this season something we have been crying out for.
-
yes he was but not by the saints fans...
-
We've been here before but a decent performance against the, worst team to visit SMS in a long time doesn't get him a place in the team for me I still think Romeu and Lemina are light years ahead of him. If we are going on yesterdays showing than Hoj is the one that comes out on top as well. Useful squad player but nothing more for me.

Morgan Schneiderlin Central midfield: Everton After Beni Baningime's excellent display in the Europa League, the onus was on Scheniderlin to perform for Everton and take his spot back. He was utterly useless, instead, attempting 0 tackles http://www.bing.com/news/apiclick.aspx?ref=BDIGeneric&aid=C98EA5B0842DBB9405BBF071E1DA7651530FFE51&tid=2CD234BDB10D41EDB3AF8FB365C3DC5A&url=http%3a%2f%2fwww.hitc.com%2fen-gb%2f2017%2f11%2f27%2feriksen-struggles-again-the-worst-combined-xi-from-the-premier-l%2f&c=18030783313331102745&mkt=en-gb

who didn't enjoy it?
-
No the point is we didn't play better or much differently than we have in previous games the difference being we actually made the most of the chances created and scored.
-
No that was the away fans. The young lad is it Kenny? wondered over to the away fans to clap them and got a round of applause the rest of the Everton team start to come over and the way fans start booing and giving them all the ****** signs so they turned around and shot down the tunnel sharpish to yet more booing
-
Just goes to show people see what they want we took our chances (something we have struggled to do all season) hence great attacking performance had we played like that and not scored no one would be saying it was a great display.
-
We didn't play differently it was much the same as we have played all season the main difference was we took our chances when they came and Everton let us play they didn't press us or fight for the second ball at all. We still played backwards and sideways alot and our build up was still to slow at times as well.

Watched MoPes after match interview on the BBC earlier and the interviewer said it would be hard to drop Austin after today and Mope suggested that wasn't the case so I don't expect to see him play against city.
-
No it was sarcastic as **** .....
-
Southampton htbh...
-
The fans where right behind Forster today he even got a round of applause when he caught ball from a corner.
-
they shouldn't be playing the same position though Boufal should be in the middle not out wide where Redmond plays
-
Just imagine spending a £140 million to get relegated
