Olufela Olomola seems to be having a decent season at Yeovil big step up to the PL mind. Can't understand why Gallagher wasn't given a chance this season on the back of a good loan spell last season.

People who raise to the bait.... so about 90% of this forum are triggered

We are at a lower ebb than they are. They've picked up 4 points in the last two league games we picked up zero scary as it sound they are the team in form not us.....
-
Do the fans need a voice or even want a voice?
doddisalegend replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
One voice? You can barely find two people on here who can agree about anything so how would it work? Usually with things someone just sets themselves up as the appointed man of the people despite representing nobody's views but his own. -
They not really at rock bottom though they picked up 4 points in their last two league games (unlike us). Last nights game was a dead rubber that they made changes for so you can't read much into that. On top of that we have lost our best three CMs and will have to play two players who couldn't help stop a U23s Fulham side score four goals. We probably also have the worst keeper in the PL (backed up by two even worse back up keepers) who couldn't catch a cold let alone a football.... So a win let alone a convincing one looks unlikely.

So with only two fit central midfielders neither who are proper holding DMs we could just go old school 4-4-2 put Redmond on the right and McQueen on the left as wingers with Austin and Gabbi up front. Not that Mope would do that mind. Alternatively as the thought of JWP and Hoj in the centre of the park fills me with dread could jack Stephens or Yoshida do a job as a DM?
-
I wouldn't expect a Saints team with JWP and Hoj as their midfield engine to beat a local tyro team let alone Everton..
-
I'd probably have the same warm fuzzy feeling Forster got when we give him a nice, new, shiny contract this summer.....
-
Oh I don't know. I think there are few on here who been waiting a long time (like since. say, the summer of 2014) for a situation like this to develop and are thoroughly enjoying it right now...
-
yeah that wont happen this time. They are playing much better than the city team that destroyed as SMS second half of last season.
-
They kept Fulham's under 23s down to 4 goals the other day so we should be fine.... So Davis, Lemina and Romeu out. This season just keeps getting better its going to be a long winter...
-
Why don't you just hope Shane Long suddenly becomes a world beating striker and that JWP final comes good as the new Pirlo this weekend.....
-
or maybe it doesn't... Statistics show sackings rarely save teams from 'fate worse than death' https://www.theguardian.com/football/football-management-blog/2014/feb/21/football-managers-sackings-premier-league Does it make statistical sense to sack a football manager? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-23724517 The myth of the new manager effect https://www.pinnacle.com/en/betting-articles/Soccer/the-myth-of-the-new-manager-effect/BAZ2FQLS2QCBJ795

yeah but I was going on the post above...
-
Thing is if you're winning titles people would live with that...... at a club like Palace or Saints with bad results err not so much
-
They aren't in bad form they're just ****ing average.. the best players were sold and replaced with sub-standard ones a new manager might improve them a bit but bar four players (Lemina, Romeu, Betrand and VVD and the last two are just phoning it in until they get a big money move) the team is full of very average PL players good enough for lower mid table.
-
Out of interest. Say MoPe does what the majority want and goes 3 at the back and 2 upfront and the team presses like a cider making machine on overdrive for the next few games but the results are still ****? Do people still want him sacked? At what point do we start to question the state of the squad rather than just the manager?
-
Ahh now I get were we are getting our wires crossed Batman said it was the 3-0 at home to Everton that we went three at the back which was Koeman's first season and you are talking about our second season under Koeman after the poor mid winter run.
-
He doesn't have much choice there. Behind those players are even worse players several of the backs up played in the U23s game against Fulham the other and lost if they can't even perform at that level what hope have we got.
-
Did it? That was Koeman's 1st season in charge assuming Batman has got the right game 3-0 at home to Everton. We'd only lost six games at that point and where 5th in the table (and five of those games were Arsenal, Spurs, Man U, city and Liverpool) we lost eight games after the Everton game. The 7th place finish was built on only losing two of our first twelve fixtures that season.
-
VVD is probably the second best player in the squad unfortunately he looks like he is just going through the motions right now as our Nige used to say “Hard Work Beats Talent, When Talent Doesn’t Work*Hard”
-
So your plan to change it up is play a keeper who just let in four against Fulham's kids? A physical midfield that contains a defensive midfielder who couldn't stop Fulham's kids scoring four. Assuming no Lemina (as well as Romeu) the other two midfielders to go toe to toe, with Everton, in a high tempo style are Davis and JWP (another midfielder who struggled to shine against Fulham's kids) and then we throw three strikers, who couldn't score in a brothel, upfront? Just sums up for me who ever the manager is our squad is pretty ****e right now.
-
Hardly. That interview was done after Poch left he then appointed Koeman and we had our best two ever seasons in the premier league.
-
You can find clubs for both sides or the argument Newcastle have bounced back a couple of times, as have Norwich, Westham went straight back up the season we got promoted. You need an owner prepared to gamble a bit and put money toward buying a championship winning side and weed at the dead wood. I still think we could have gone straight back up to the PL had we kept Peter Crouch in the summer of 2005 rather than selling him. A lot of the clubs getting mentioned like Villa and Sunderland have been in decline and a mess for years before they were relegated or like Wigan were punching way above their weight I don't see saints in that category.
-
Do you have any realistic targets? None of those three would be remotely interested in joining us.
