Best player who looks like he can't be arsed in most games. Also I think Lemina is our best player this season by some distance.
-
Why do you think Boufal is that player? Boufal first instinct is to take people on not to play an early through ball. Tadic should be the player capable of doing it, he used to pick out Mane and Pelle with some great through balls, but his game has gone to ****. We could do with a 10 with good vision to pass early and move the ball quickly I don't think we really have one right now.

Literally no one is happy with being average. The difference is between those that recognise the reality of the PL and those who are a bit delusional and still living off some dream scenario of nik-nak turning saints into a European super team. Despite the different outlooks their isn't one saints fan who doesn't want us to do well...other than Glasgow of course
-
Really? I bet Man city fans aren't saying that and they are the biggest exponents of possession football in the PL (they have played more back passes than any other team in the league this season a massive 1257 back passes followed by spurs in second with 924 back passes.). There is nothing wrong with possession football as long as you have quality players to turn that possession into end product. Now there is certainly a case that we don't have the required quality and so should be looking to play a different way to accommodate the average players we do have but I really can't believe any saints fan wouldn't want to see us playing possession football like man city if they had the choice.

I thought West Ham would be all over Koeman like a nasty rash.

Just goes show how things change when he got WHU to 7th (basically on the back of Payet having the season of his life) he was hailed as an excellent manager a season and a bit later he is on the scrap heap. You some times wonder if it's managers that make players or players that make managers.
-
Exactly look how Palace have surged up the table since making the chop early.
-
Seems like a pretty fair write up. cheers.

Romeu is on record saying how much enjoyed playing for Puel. It's a mistake to think an entire squad all think the same. The flip side of your arguement is the players are at fault. They are paid a lot of money to do the best they can on the pitch. They don't have to like the tactics, team selection or manager they do do have to be professional and there are certainly some who haven't been recently both on and off the pitch. At the end of the day despite people wanting to blame one or the other its clearly a combination of the two. Some players in the squad are not good enough and the manager is clearly not playing a way to get the best out of the players he has.

Has it gone wrong? Feels more like the natural progression of things its not like we were going to become the 7th big club in the PL or Champions League stalwarts. All those 6,7,8th placed finishes were unlikely to be achieved season in season out. Bigger clubs than saints like Everton and Newcastle have been trying, unsuccessfully, to break the top six for years and never made much of a dent. The reality is despite having some good seasons we are just another Stoke, WHU or West Brom we will have good seasons and bad seasons. Depressing though it might be like the fans if all those teams our best hope is a one off style Leicester season or a good cup run to inject a bit of fun into a season in the PL.

Surely it won't happen because it would be Koeman, rather than Reed, that would look foolish limping back to saints with his tail between his legs. Koeman left us you can argue about reasons but ultimately it was his decision to leave saints not saints that fired him.

Gazzaniga starts for Spurs against Palace

Pretty much Forster has the odd good game don't think to many would say that makes him a good keeper though. -
Still 4pts behind Burnley in 7th though so he is correct they aren't flying. Doing better than us certainly (and aren't most teams) but flying and pushing top seven hardly.
-
far weaker? our team isn't massively superior when you factor in we have one of the worst keepers in the PL and front line consisting of bang average players or decent players who's confidence is shot to ****. Our Defence is good but Bertrand and VVD are just going through the motions each week while looking bored. Romeu and Lemina are quality but Lemina is injured and behind him in the squad is dross.
-
eh they are 2pts above us and 4pts behind Burnely in 7th if that constitutes flying then Puel had us flying at the end of last season. The truth is the PL is two leagues the big six and everyone else. Every season one of "everyone else teams" starts the season with a bang (gets a bit of confidence, finds a striker in a purple patch, ETC) and has a good season (most likely that will be Burnley this season) none of them (including us) ever turn it into any long lasting success. Everton are probably the club who have come closest to making it a top seven but even they are miles off the big six.

I noticed Redmond and Tadic swapped sides briefly yesterday during that brief time Redmond delivered the best saints cross of the whole game but yeah we need to move the ball much quicker all our players seem to want to take several touches before passing.
-
He wouldn't be if he got the right service. He needs the ball early into space behind the CBs facing the opposition goal. Instead we move the ball at snails pace and when it final does get to him its normally at his chest or head with his back to goal. I don't ****ing understand why we don't hit more balls like this to him
-
Not sure that Everton will be to keen
-
Why is that a surprise? Saints are also having a terrible season surprised it escaped your notice...
-
Looks like Man city are going to have the league sown up by Christmas.
-
Exactly look the difference Woy has made to Palace...
-
I'm not so sure about that. Our main attacking play at the moment is to get the ball out wide and cross. In fact we are the top team in the PL for crosses this season (granted a lot of those crosses are poor quality) that would work better if we had a proper, old school, big CF than it does with our current striking options he need a totally different type of service.
-
Would certainly get us playing more exciting attacking football....
