How much can I sell the playing squad for?
-
All over...
-
It's going to be a long afternoon Liverpool's attacking options are ****ing scary...
-
Forster on his game I see...
-
No why would I ever want saints to lose...
-
Just like everyone else. I think it's safe to say any early season confidence is long gone. I'm already looking forward to Saints v Pompey in the championship next season...
-
The guy clearly has a way he wants to play you have to admire his desire to stick to his guns. The bigger question is why saints employed someone with a style that doesn't seem to work with the players we have.
-
If this was a home game I'd agree but this is the sort of game Long should be best in. We are going defend deep with everyone behind the ball and hope to get Long one on one with Lovern with a big punt up field. Not exactly champagne football but probably our best bet as we aren't good enough to go toe to toe with them.

Never watched England Vs San Marino then..

We didn't keep him in the summer because he was our best player we kept him to make a point to Liverpool (and other clubs) and the players that we won't put up with blatant tapping up. Had Liverpool, Klopp, VVD and his agent gone about things the right way last summer I've no doubt VVD would be turning out for Liverpool rather than saints this weekend. This whole saga was about the club showing it wouldn't be bullied rather than any desire to keep a 70million player. If he goes in January it will be because the club feel they've made a point. On slightly different note if we are in a relegation battle VVD will be **** all use anyway. He might be one of our best players but like Bertrand he is just going through the motions every week. In a relegation battle you need people who want to fight for survival and a VVD who thinks he is off next summer will only be worried about not picking up and injury.

Hardly news though and not exactly something unique to saints. Managers at every club are in the same boat with regards to owners selling players.
-
McQueen isn't left back though is he? He is wide player who got pushed into the full back role last year, when we were short of options, and did a decent enough job. You could quite easily replace Redmond with McQueen. How much difference it would make is open to debate but it's certainly an option.

Who are these mythical goal scorers he needs to play? You've named more than half the attacking minded players in the squad as non goal scorers (amazingly you missed Shane "28 games and counting" Long off that list) so by my count that leaves Austin and Gabbi left that you can class as goal scorers. You really believe playing those two up top will make all the difference? The way I see it if you naming six out of our nine attacking players as not good enough you have to question the state of our current squad and weather this all just down to the manager.

I hope there is a open top bus parade if we win....
-
Probably don't want to employ an ex Liverpool man....
-
TBF they lost out on Moyes and Puel to more ambitious clubs, Big Sam made it clear he wasn't interested and their attempts to land Diego Simeone haven't gone well so now they are desperately trying to land their 4th choice give it a couple more weeks and they'll probably try for MoPe...
-
yeah but the last time we tried it with this current squad we got spanked by wolves reserves/u23s team.
-
Is he stilled injured? I thought it was only supposed to be a minor niggle. I Hope it isn't going to turn out to be one of those half a season injuries Lemina is our best player by some margin this season.
-
Have Everton given up on Diego Simeone already then....

Terrorist Attacks - WARNING: CONTAINS DISTRESSING IMAGES
doddisalegend replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
Seems the Russians have cottoned on to how is the masses are to manipulate with a bit of twitter Man who posted image of Muslim woman 'ignoring Westminster terror victims' was a Russian troll A Twitter account which tweeted a picture of a Muslim woman wrongly accused of ignoring the Westminster terror attack has been revealed as one of the thousands of fake accounts set up by a Russian “troll factory”. The account, @Southlonestar, tweeted a picture of a woman in a hijab walking past a victim laying on the ground while on her phone. It said: “Muslim woman pays no mind to the terror attack, casually walks by a dying man while checking phone #PrayForLondon #Westminster #BanIslam.” The sentiment was picked up by far-right activists in the UK and the US and the woman was attacked for her “indifference” to the scene. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/world/man-who-posted-image-of-muslim-woman-ignoring-westminster-terror-victims-was-a-russian-troll/ar-BBEWhum?li=AAmiR2Z&ocid=spartandhp -
unless they are a saints player in which case it will be shanked into row z nearer the corner flag than the goal....
-
He is pretty immobile but then again Shane long has **** loads of pace and is still crap. Just stick Austin in around the box and stop asking him to run around trying to be something his isn't. I'm pretty sure if Glen Murray can score goals in this league Austin can.
-
Isn't that partly because the likes of City and Chelsea are now (or have been for a while) bringing their financial muscle to the academy set up coupled with the lifting of the catchment areas of the tier 1 academy sides means they can hoover up the best talent around the country something they couldn't do under the old system. I've heard tales of boys 8-9 age group picking Chelsea over saints academy because Chelsea offered the parents serious financial rewards to go with them.

Probably not if this article is correct http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/11/10/man-utd-extend-contracts-quartet-invoking-12-month-options-current/ It is understood that United have already invoked the 12-month option on Luke Shaw’s contract to June 2019, which will strengthen United’s hopes of recouping a bigger portion of the £28 million fee they paid Southampton for the out of favour left back in 2014 as the club seek to offload him next year. Fenerbahce are one of the clubs interested in taking Shaw on loan in January*but the player is thought to be unenthused by the prospect of a move to Turkey. United are likely to listen to offers for Shaw in January but will still demand a fee in excess of £20 million, which, coupled with his £130,000 a week wages, could put off any interested parties. Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton and Manchester City are thought to be keeping a watching brief.

Make Austin the classic fox in the box of a old school big man, little man centre forward partnership with Crouch or Andy Carroll bought in in January....
