  1. Alex crook? so that lot was cobbled together from a quick read on here then....
  2. I saw earlier today Shane Longs conversion rate for the season is 9% ......just let that sink in we've had more shots this season than Chelsea and yet sit bottom of the table for shots to goals conversion rate http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/premier-league/chancenverwertung/wettbewerb/GB1/saison_id/2016/plus/1
  3. it is but Hoj is no better he has a horrible habit of giving the ball away in bad areas when playing the holding role the truth is our midfield is horribly unbalanced at the moment and needs major surgery this summer. I still think Hoj has a future but it needs to be in front of two DMs which currently we don't have.
  4. It could be a case of out of the pan and into the fire there. Anyone remember what happened at Cardiff... In October 2013, Tan created more controversy after suspending Iain Moody, the club's head of recruitment, who had apparently overspent by £15 million during the summer transfer window.[18] Moody was initially added to the backroom staff by then manager Malky Mackay, and helped Cardiff sign several players ahead of their inaugural Premier League campaign. He was replaced by Alisher Apsalyamovby, a 23-year-old Kazakh who was previously on work experience with the club and is a friend of Tan's son.[19] A few months later, following an investigation over Apsalyamovby's visa,[20] he was forced to leave the club.[21]
  5. I've got a feeling a lot of those who have been calling for Kat/Les/Ralph to go the last few years are going to realise just how lucky we were the last few years if these new owners take over...
  6. Because currently he has trouble passing to a team mate and loses concentration at the wrong times. I think he was seen as a replacement for an aging Davis but lost out because Davis has to play as captain in the absence of VVD. I certainly don't think Hoj is a DM/holding player seems to me he would be best in front of two solid DMs where he can pick up the ball and run with it and link up up the attack and midfield but for that he would have to oust Tadic.
  7. ...or Sol Campbell and Sven for Notts county
  8. Not disagreeing that Puel has got things wrong (though the sub bench doesn't exactly give him many options presently) and Romeu shouldn't be doing things on his own but again the Puel's options are limited seeing as Romeu is the only proper DM in the squad. None of that though is really relevant to weather the club should bow to player pressure over who the manager is.
  9. I'm pretty sure this quote is supposed to sound exciting And with the new owners, there will be a new coach with a number of high-profile names in their sights but it just fills me with visions of signing over the hill players who used to be good on one last pay day and some high profile ex player who is a crap manager but has a well known name. John Terry and Di Canio it is then...
  10. Well Long can **** off it would be a nice excuse for him to hide behind the manager to cover up how **** he has been this season if he could actually finish this thread probably wouldn't exist. I mean a 9% conversion rate for a striker dear God
  11. probably but manager has to able to manage what hope does anyone else coming in after Puel have if they now they will be undermined if some players take a dislike to them?
  12. Really on what basis? That just sounds like Anglophile/PL snobbery.
  13. Ship them out then, regardless of weather Puel is good enough or not, if the players are allowed to dictate to the club what a manager can or can't do we are on a slippery slope.
  14. half of which he won't have a few weeks in to the transfer window if previous summers are anything to go by.
  15. I know no one actually listens to Puel's interviews but this is what he said after the game which doesn't really tally with what you are saying "Our game was too poor today, without the good intensity, the good rhythm of the passes, without the possibility to find the good space and the good situations. "We were too slow – too slow to take the decisions, to take the good information, to play good football and it was simply not enough today. "It's a good lesson, because if we didn't give the good intensity of the game, with good quality and good pressing, it's not possible to win. If anything it suggests the manager knows what he wants and what is needed and the players aren't doing it which of course is a worry in itself...
  16. Did he play much for Bayern? They loaned him out the season before he came to us. Clearly given they were happy to let him go and we got him (in current terms) cheap suggests Bayern didn't particular rate him. A lot is made of Pep liking him but not enough to want to sign him for Citeh.
  17. If your going to the theatre or a comedy club maybe but live sport doesn't (can't) work like that. Hull was terrible (from both teams to be fair), WBA to (though we were the better side for long periods but as usual didn't make it count), I enjoyed Bournemouth (more for the "its not a" derby atmosphere) and man city were just to good for us (and man city played some great stuff that I would have enjoyed had not been my team they were doing it to).
  18. Why is Europe such a big deal what did people realistically expect from us for our the first time in the group stages? Even if we'd got through the group stages we would been unlikely to get far in the knockout rounds so in reality while disappointing at the time it isn't that big a deal in the overall scheme of things.
  19. He won't he made it clear to Newcastle that he will stay if he gets funds to build his team in the summer to compete in the PL don't think he'd get that at saints. Any manager who comes here has to be youth orientated, be prepared to lose players, get replacements picked by the club (with some input from the manager) and work within reasonably small budgets for the PL....at least until the Chinese get here....
  20. I'm a ST its not been much worse than previous seasons for entertainment some good games some **** ones (winning normally being the correlation between the two). I haven't been bored at many games more than frustrated at how many bloody chances we haven't put away. I have left to many games at SMS this season talking about the "if only moments" and the second lowest conversion rate of shots to goals in the league tells its own picture. So I've not been bored just frustrated but then I pay my money I take my choice a ST, or any match ticket, makes no guarantee to the purchaser of the entertainment of a game all it does is entitle you to a seat at the match.
  21. Sadly he's not the only one its amazing how much our fan base has changed in recent seasons that mid table and a cup final is now a "disaster". Its like some poster who recently stated he expected saints to challenge for top six every season or failing that win a cup anything else was failure. When did our fan base become so full of entitled knobs who can't see the reality of what the club they support is?
  22. I think its pretty much proven that at Southampton it doesn't make any difference who the manager is if players gets a better offer else where. You really think bringing in Silva will make any difference to VVD and Bertrand if Citeh come calling ? The issue isn't players leaving ( its going to happen regardless) its about replacing them properly something Les failed to do last summer and Jan.
  23. How is this season a disaster? It could have been better certainly......but disaster give me a break you drama queen.
  24. If Benitez is leaving Newcastle it will be because he feels he won't get backed in the summer transfer window I doubt he will want to come here if that is his criteria.
  25. No problem with that for this game. The players will all be up for this one I'm literally expecting them to play out of their skins while constantly looking over to see if Klopp is watching and mouthing to him "pick me... piiiicccckkkk mmmeeeeeeee"
