I would have assumed that if saints had wanted Silva they would have gone for him last summer? it doesn't seem very Les/Black box that we've just learned who is after a couple of months at Hull when allegedly we track managers all over Europe and keep a short list of six at all times.
-
So the trick to beating saints is for the opposition to dive, dive, dive in around our area to get set pieces...
-
They don't have to be low the number of free kicks this season were he hasn't batted an eyelid let alone moved to stop the ball is horrendous...just rooted to his line most of the time
-
Hardly a surprise we have a team of midgets, with all the strength of 10 year old girls, trying to defend a goal manned by giant immobile statue of a keeper....
-
Every single one of the teams in our group has had more experience playing in Europe in recent years than saints Sparta have had European football 16 times in the last 20 seasons even Hapoel have played more European football than us. We were the least experienced European side in the group the idea some had that we were just going to cruise through the group stages was odd, eve more so when you consider we got knocked out of Europe with a better team by midgetland the season before, and not one I held which is probably why I got over it quicker than some on here have.

Generally football is fun if your team is winning regardless of the league. I guess the one thing the championship has going for it over the PL is it's a bit less predictable and the good teams get promoted so you have a chance again the next season. The PL (last season aside) feels like 6 teams who can win it and 14 teams who are just there to make up numbers.

No not really. It was our first ever season in the group stages with a squad with little European experience, that had just lost several of it's better players, replaced those players poorly all with a new manager still trying to find his feet. Given all that we were 10 minutes away from getting through the group stages. I was gutted at the time but got over it pretty quick. I'm more disappointed in losing the cup final than not progressing in Europe HTBH.

I thought it was better than the previous seasons.....

Ron you're missing the point. A number of posters are suggesting that a change of manager would stop players leaving in the summer do you really believe getting in Silva would stop VVD or Bertrand leaving this summer to the likes of Liverpool or citeh? Who is better Puel vs Silva isn't the point I was making but pointing out the straw clutching that a change of manager will make players stay (well it might make Long stay....... ..yay)

Done deal with Liverpool according to this as long as they finish top 4..... Virgil van Dijk agrees to join Liverpool if they secure top four place http://www.msn.com/en-gb/sport/news/virgil-van-dijk-agrees-to-join-liverpool-if-they-secure-top-four-place/ar-BBAFwH2?li=AA572I&ocid=spartandhp We need to sack Puel and bring in Silva now to stop this happening............................ ...............

Yes because it really isn't that bad. You say you've had an ST for 20 years and this season is your tipping point? Were you sitting through games with your eyes closed for large parts of that 20 years? it has been far, far worse than this in the past....but hey its peoples choice if people feel they have better things to do with their time and money I respect that but it still doesn't make my point any less valid if our fan base are this fickle stadium expansion is a waste of time..
-
That will be happening regardless it has very little to do with the manager and much more to do with there being bigger more attractive clubs out there. Do people really think that Bertrand, for example, is going tell Man city to get lost because the board have sacked Puel and brought in Silva
-
Well the recent posts on this thread show why we will never need expand the stadium one season of mid table and a cup final and people are (allegedly) not going to bother anymore. Just goes to show if you build it they probably won't come.....still at least cup final tickets will be easy to get hold of next season with only three ST holders
-
If you are going to try these sort of posts you need start them with something believable.....
-
No I believe it's a whole new family area on top of the current one.
-
There won't be some massive reduction some old ST holders won't renew but I know a couple of people who have already become new STs for next season.
-
Is that to tie up VVD until the summer window closes?
-
TBF he is the of the forum ....
-
Always said I'd take 17th if we actually won a cup so mid table after a non winning cup final is perfectly acceptable to me ( more so given other factors like poor recruitment last summer and having to cope with Europe this season).
-
The new owners will probably need to sell him to off set some of the debt they wracked up to buy the club....
-
I see he is ripping up the Chinese super league now played 30 won 11 finished 7th in a league of 16...
-
Telegraph article saying puel may be on borrowed time
doddisalegend replied to Mr X's topic in The Saints
Which likely won't happen until the take over is sorted I reckon this could be the most muddled summer ever. No point bringing in a new man and buying in players if the new Chinese overlords arrive in August and want to bring in their own manager, DOF and players. -
You make it sound like we escaped relegation by the skin of our teeth. It could have been better (it can always be better unless you win the league) but mid table and a cup final is a decent return for a club like ours.
-
So how mad would you have been if we conceded from that late corner? Also Koeman did the same thing I use to complain that we never left Mane up field at opposition corners to break on teams if the ball fell kindly.
-
If you listen to the Hull post match interview with Puel (I know big ask) he agrees with you sadly the players don't seem to be listening...
