  1. Being totally selfish but good. Keeps Clasie and VVD away from injury..
  2. I sit in the itchen north pretty sure the smoke bomb came from the away fans. My point was merely if someone can smuggle in a smoke bomb I can't see someone who wanted to (in other words not you average footie fan)having much trouble with a grenade or two.
  3. Yet someone got a smoke bomb into the Bournemouth match and managed to chuck it on the pitch doubt a hand grenade would be that difficult.
  4. Is there such a thing as Muslim DNA? I don't think religion can have DNA.
  5. Not at all the post I replied to asked if Christians performed violence today just showing they do. At no point did I claim it was on the same level as Islamic extremism only that Christian extremism does exist and is violent today.
  6. erm yes there are a number of unpleasant Christain groups in the world today difference is they are doing nasty **** in places like Africa so no one cares. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_terrorism Even the troubles in Ireland had strong religious undertones yet I never remember there being a big backlash against Irish people or Catholics in this country in the 70s-80s
  7. 400,000 fought in WW1 alone http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/aug/02/muslim-soldiers-first-world-war
  8. Well I'm glad someone understood what I'm getting at. Batman seems to think I'm worried about the government finding out I had look a big tiittes.com or something yet while I find the idea of the government spying on me uncomfortable it pales into insignificance compared to his suggestions of restricting peoples freedom of movement or right to free speech or even detention without trial.
  9. Really? you think religion plays no part in the US? Religion isn't important in Israel? The last estimate was 300 million eastern orthodox church members in the world. There are an estimated 1.2 billion Roman Catholics in the world 277 million in Europe alone....you really think people in the developed world don't believe in religion?
  10. Missing the point as usual. Once you've given the government the sort of draconian powers you'd like to see they can't be taken back. Right now, through fear and anger, those powers might look like a good idea but you will have no control over how future governments will use those powers...you are happy to see those powers given to government because you can not envisage a time when they could be used against you yet history is full of examples of countries that sleep walked their way into a police state.
  11. and so it begins Woman arrested after 'no Muslims' beauty salon Facebook post http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-oxfordshire-34831227
  12. More and more people seem to be taking that attitude ( quite a few I work with anyway). Which of course suits IS and gives a nice narrative to their propaganda. As the Muslim communities in western Europe face increasing hostility in the countries they live in they will naturally feel pushed towards the extremists.
  13. Ok so say a new government comes to power in five years time and brings in some policies you don't like. You attend a protest against the new government and are singled out by security services as a problem. Thanks to the new laws, you wanted, they monitor your emails, then they decide to curtail your free speech and finally they black bag you and hold you without trail in a secure holding facility as an enemy of the state. Sounds far fetched and probably is. The point is though once you give government those powers you can't control how the use them in the future.
  14. But several of the Paris attackers were apparently born and breed in France and Belgium they aren't immigrants. There are plenty on 2nd and 3rd generation Muslims living in western Europe who seem to be attracted to extremism. Stopping immigrants coming to western Europe would make no difference to those people.
  15. The issue though is once the government is given the right in law to ban free speech, hold people without trial and monitor every aspect of your life what's to stop those powers being used against you and I in the future? No one is going to pass a law saying we can do these things to Muslims and no one else. Once we give the government those sort of powers there is no turning back.
  16. I saw a stat the other day that the average stay of a player at a PL club is now two years and eight months given that we've not done that bad with player retention.
  17. That's the modern social media society we live in now. Every little thing he (or any slightly newsworthy person) does these days will be on social media after 5 minutes so someone can take offence.
  18. yeah but back then they were called Mujahideen and they were good guys fighting the evil commies hell even 007 and Rambo fought along side them.
  19. Far more eloquently put than I could manage.
  20. Nice theory but IS is thriving in those countries where governments are barely in charge outside their own capital cities, corrupt and barely able to keep the lights working let alone drive out religiously inspired fighters with their poor quality armed forces. Which brings us back to western armed forces doing the job which, as Afghanistan showed, Western government's don't have the political will to see through to it's bloody conclusion.
  21. Wasn't that what we tried in Afghanistan? years of coalition forces fighting it out with the Taliban the final result didn't actually change much. Western governments and voters do not, IMO, have the stomach for the bloody thirsty kind of war required to "wipe these people from the face of the earth" as soon as the body bags start coming into RAF Brize Norton in large numbers the British people will become unhappy same will happen in other western democracies.
  22. No just asking batman for his opinion on the solution to this ****. Clearly the west can't kill every Muslim (only a ****ing moron would suggest such a thing) but as pointed talking to the extremists isn't going to happen either. The West will retaliate to this with violence which will create more extremists and so the whole circle will kick off again I'd love to know how people think this can be resolved.
  23. What is in the between then? There really is no end to this cluster ****. Every time the West retaliates we create more enemies every time extremists carry out an attack westerners become more entrenched in their views on all Muslims which in turn fosters more bad feeling among western Muslim populations ( many who are second generation or older). The whole thing is a vicious circle that seems unbreakable.
  24. Didn't stop him playing another 25 minutes of football after he was treated on the pitch and he walked off at half time fine so I'm hoping it's not that bad.
