  1. Well my guess is what ever money we get for them will most likely help pay for replacements so the quicker it's done the quicker we can get in replacements. Secondly we can make agreements with other PL clubs to sell them it's just the paper work that can't be signed until the 1st of July . Thirdly who wants non committed players mopping around pre-season training while they dream of their big move. A summer of playing "will they or won't they" is hardly conducive to the clubs planning for next season . If they don't want to be at Saints (fair enough) let's get them out the door (if the price is right) and get in players that are committed for pre-season.
  2. I thought we had replaced him for 3.5 million already so still 3 million in the bank
  3. fair point and If Toby went to spurs for the money so be it but at the least the club would have given it their best shot. I would just hate to think we just walked away and didn't at least fight spurs to sign him.
  4. Surely we just need to match spurs bid? I assume Madrid will then except both bids and let the player choose which club he wants. I'd like to assume (probably wrongly) that after Toby's comments he opt to return to saints over spurs.
  5. Can we just get them both sold quickly and bring in some replacements who want to be here. Don't really want this dragging on all summer.
  6. Actually I'd quite like to see what a front three of mane, jrod and long could do that's a scary amount of pace up front.
  7. I imagine most clubs are in that position. I have no doubt Koeman would love to sign Messi if only Barca would flog him to us for 10 million.......
  8. Got to admire Atletico for trying to get the best deal , money wise, for a player, it seems, they don't even want.
  9. On the plus side clearing out 10 first teamers should mean they will take time to "gel" the new team so they will be well of the pace first half of the season. Also means they would need to bring in more than Toby and Morgan as replacements having already spent what 39 million (if you include the 3.5 million for Tripper) can't see those 10 first teamers bring in that much in the way of cash and don't reckon spurs can afford to spend much more....even if they can actually sell any of their dud first teamers. It's like saints trying to fund a spending spree by flogging off Osvaldo, Mayuka, Kelvin, Gaston and Gardos .
  10. because if we have ambitions to break the top six we really don't need to be strengthening Spurs or pool with our best players.
  11. I doubt Lambert has forgotten how to kick a ball or lost his footballing brain his biggest problem is age and speed but with Mane, Long, J-rod and Juanmi all running off him I reckon he could still offer us something.
  12. Not sure about that think the club would happily keep him, and given his contract, they are under no pressure to accept anything less than their 25 million valuation. I agree though Clyne may well go for less than the 15 million the club wants.
  13. I'm not quite sure why Spurs think players, they deem not good enough, would seem like a fair swap for actual quality players. It would be like saints trying to get Chelsea to part with Remy and offering them Mayuka in exchange.
  14. Apparently he sat on Dixons bar stool (ooh err misses) after Dixon had vacated it grounds for getting a kicking if I ever saw one. Any way Mr Dixon was only acting in self defence as he repeatedly punched the guy as he lay prone on the floor ...honest guv
  15. mmmmmmmm:mcinnes: Liverpool it is then
  16. Just wait till someone gets sold.....
  17. He plays for Liverpool now when he isn't injured.
  18. Can't imagine our transfer policy includes looking at anyone over 30 (unless it's a free or a loan).
  19. Problem is the actual number of top class English managers is pretty small all the top managers in the PL are foreign or from other home nations would Gary Monk be the best English manager available at the moment? I wonder if the FA have thought about moving Southgate up to the position after Roy leaves?
  20. I'm assuming, if he won't sign a contract with Stoke, he is looking to move a bit further up the food chain than little old Southampton probably feels he is ready to play for Liverpool or spuds.
