I prefer to think of it as Les's parting legacy as the club have been tracking him since 2014 (allegedly) so Les clearly did most of the ground work and know Ralph K. will reap the benefits (hopefully) one things for sure Nic Nak would never have pulled this off..... .....should be good for a few bites.
-
Wonder how long the feel good feeling will last and who will be the first one on here to want him out if we lose to Cardiff..
-
Looks like a good fit on paper could see quite a few of our current players struggling with his way of doing things.
-
Probably because he was employed and we haven't been prepared to pay compensation to prize a manager away from another club since Adkins.
-
It was a pretty simple criteria for the list To get on the list a) be a football manager To get to the top of the list a) be out of work
-
Well if this guardian article is to be believed it looks like Chairman Ralph found an old piece of paper in Les's office titled "Possible Saints Managers 2014 edition" and went with that. Saints, who confirmed the sacking of Mark Hughes on Monday after a dismal run of results, have been aware of Hasenhüttl’s work since his time at Ingolstadt; the Austrian was on their longlist when they appointed Ronald Koeman in June 2014. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/dec/04/southampton-ralph-hassenhuttl-new-manager

After the last few seasons I can't really blame anyone for being sceptical/worried until they see a picture of the guy holding a shirt at SMS on the O/S... Satan Laughed

Hope not nothing seems to spell the kiss of death to people doing well at SFC as a contract extension..
-
Lots of press saying its done I'll be pretty impressed if the clubs pulls this one off. Especially if Ralph has meet Ralph and still wants to come here...
-
Don't forget being offside half the time.
-
Yeah but they had a style. This season was just odd we spent all pre season clearly planning and recruiting to play a back 5 with a plan to counter attack and the abandoned it half way through the first game after that it was just a mess under Hughes.
-
I'd say Mope and Puel had a style just not one that the fans liked or in Mopes case one that worked. Hughes I'd agree looked totally clueless in that regard.
-
It hasn't actually happened yet so I'm not getting excited until it is confirmed. The last few years the club have become masters of this sort of name dropping, giving the impression its as good as done, in the press only for all it to all fall through at the last minute due to some unforeseen issue that wasn't their fault. I wouldn't be at all surprised if we ended up with someone completely different.
-
Someone on here said it was a back injury.
-
Noto bothered about Hughes leaving but was he particularly anti youth he did just start to academy lads against Man U (forced on him by injuries a bit but he could easily have stuck with Austin and a played Stephens at RB). Koeman wasn't very youth positive and no one was bothered as long as we where doing well.
-
Jesus badly mis-managed? They struggle with the basics of defending half the time we aren't talking tactics or fitness just basic things a bunch of players who have come through academy systems should have had drilled into them since boyhood. Simple things like knowing when its on to play out from the back and when to just smash it into row z, getting goal side of your man, being aware of who is around you and not getting sucked into the ball and out of position, standing a man up and not diving in, being able to head a ball away from your goal the sort of stuff that should be second nature to a highly paid PL CB.
-
Jesus if he has been talking with Ralph he is probably still trying to work out what exactly he has agreed in principle to....
-
Except its still spouting the same stuff and Les is gone.... It seems to be the way now positive stuff in the Telegraph clearly fed from the club which gets everyone hyped... Followed by something completely different happening then followed by another Telegraph article explaining why the first thing didn't happen but spinning the whole thing to make it look like what actually happened was better anyway.
-
Oh I can see the Telegraph article with the club pet jurno now "yeah Ralph really wants the job but the timing isn't quite right. He has promised he will come in the summer (honest) and Kelvin has agreed to take the reins until then"....
-
Not quite.. Asked if him being given control only up to Wednesday’s Tottenham trip suggests a permanent appointment will happen before the weekend, Davis replied: “To me it does indicate that. “But whether that happens or not will be up to the guys upstairs. I’m taking the team up until Wednesday and we’ll see after that.” https://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/pa/article-6455257/Kelvin-Davis-expects-swift-Southampton-appointment.html

Was he sweating when he said it in a "please god let there be a new manager by saturday" way..
-
There is a half of me wondering if the name dropping in the press is just a grab for ticket sales by dangling some interesting names for the managers job before the club just unveils Pardew or Moyes...following saints the last few seasons has got me becoming a bit of untrusting cynic...all smells a bit Promes..
-
Until the players get upset and go crying to Ralph...
-
Each to their own. I don't find throwing away winning positions with tyro league defending overly entertaining if I'm honest. I'd come away from SMS a lot happier seeing a few solid 1-0 wins.

I seem to remember he dressed like a bit of a hipster and had nice hair..
