I've never said that Tella will down tools, other people have suggested that he might. Personally I think he'll want to go, that he will, and that the fee will be nothing like £25m. If I'm wrong and he goes for something close to £25m, or he stays and sulks in the B team, I stand to be corrected.

This comes down to you and others believing a) that in reality we hold the cards in terms of whether he stays or goes, and b) that we'll let him rot in the reserves until his contract expires if he doesn't go on our terms. On a) player power wins out most of the time - the lad will have PL football and money on the table now and it's obvious he'll want it; and b) the idea that we'll force him to stay but not him play him until his contract expires (in 2 years time when he's 25) is just daft.

That's a lovely theory, but can you name one player who's had a successful season when he's stayed against his will? It never ends well, you know that.

How do you get to £150m for that lot? If we were in the PL, maybe close to that, but once we're down we're easy pickings. As for Tella, I think he'll command a decent fee, but not the £25m that some people think we'll get. He'll want Burnley, they'll want him, they won't want to pay £25m and ultimately we'll have little choice to take what's on offer otherwise we'll be stuck with a player who doesn't want to be here.
