Yep. Manager signs average players and gets a tune from them, so the manager must be shit and the players demi gods. Odd.
-
Err...ok mate. I'm not sure I've heard anyone say Pep is a fraud. Of those Newcastle signings, Targett, Wood, and Burn wouldn't get near a top 4 side. They were the best Newcastle could get in those positions and all credit must go to Howe for getting results with them and the rest of his squad. Don't get me wrong, Bruno is some player, but don't be trying to convince anyone that Howe has been gifted elite signings because he hasn't.

To be fair, we've been shocking recently and they've been very good. 180 degrees turnaround at both clubs, albeit in opposite directions. They've done well, sadly.
-
You misunderstand. They both suffered / suffer with the same thing, alcoholism. Their respective life journeys are different, the same can be said of every alcoholic, but the common thing is the illness of alcoholism. That is the single illness that drives alcoholic drinking.

I won't respond to all, but in the real world, yep, I'd tell someone what I think of them. In here people are anonymous to a point, but to refer to people as strangers who some of us have interacted with for years is a stretch. In real or virtual life, idiots will get called out. The idiots have to suck it up, although I doubt in real life they'd behave that way and save their goading and nonsense for the safety of the virtual world.

There was some cracking stuff back them, and some sheer crazy stuff. All that stuff you mentioned, tubgirl or what ever it was, brilliant. As much as I like a bit of the political stuff in the lounge, there should be no place for it on the main forum imo - personally I'd shut down anything like that, plus threads like the Broja one which has run its course.
-
I'm not sure banning is the way. Have a word, shut threads, delete posts, but banning feels ott to me. Threads like this are a form of member moderation which helps as it gets the point across and focuses minds. Fair play @SaveloyMush 👍
-
Amen to that. I imagine some people check into threads, think sod that, and log off. I'm guilty of more than my share of tussling, and if I feel that way, I can only imagine that quieter posters may have reached the point of no longer bothering to get that far.
-
The Broja 'argument' shows me that if anyone wants to get a word in edgeways, it's either a direct in & out and not invite a response, or get dragged into the nauseating exchange. The alternative is not to bother. That it's dragged on and become so repetitive and tedious makes me feel that quieter posters won't bother with the thread, and probably the forum as a whole. It needs moderating for the good of the forum imo.
-
I'm no fan of censorship, but someone needs to put all this bollocks to bed. It's beyond pathetic.
-
Huge similarities imo. Two talented footballers with alcoholism. One died from it, the other is sadly going the same way if he doesn't take the help available to him.
-
Stats, fucking stats, fucking boring stats. Anyone who's watched a football match, and has any clue about what makes a decent player, can see that Broja and Obafemi are on different levels. You can't expect anyone to respect your opinions if you think Obafemi and Broja ore on the same level. I'm out too as it's absolutely fucking pointless.
-
Indeed. The mention of Obafemi is odd. Completely different player with completely different abilities. Comparing them two is like comparing Scarlett Johanson with Scarlett Moffatt. Obafemi is a championship level player who had a crack at the PL and ended up at his level. Broja has shown himself as being on another level. He's since slipped, albeit in a poor team where he's been starved of service and support, and consequently not been scoring.
-
Exactly. TWar thinks he's shit (in a strangely obsessive way) and Dman rates him. The majority of others seem to agree with Dman namely that he's good but has, like the team overall, gone off the boil. Absolutely pointless "discussion". It's more like groundhog day, although that was quite funny.
-
FFS, is this shite still going on?! Dman rates the lad. TWar doesn't. You'll never agree with each other, and although I like a good tussle, this is fucking boring.
-
I'm not sure how much was truly self inflicted, or at least, self inflicted by choice. The guy was plainly unwell for so long, carried baggage from his mates death in his arms, and was given a huge amount too soon but without the ability to cope. Before too long he became addicted to booze, and drank because of his addiction, thus not a free choice. What's inexcusable though is some of his behaviour towards Sheryl and others. What's especially sad is the part the press played. They helped destroy him by creating anxiety to add to the anxiety that he already had. The result has been catastrophic. It was a tough watch and I can only hope he reaches a point before its too late and gets the help he needs loads of ex players have done it. Look at people like Tony Adams and Paul Walsh, they've been down there and are now living good lives. Gazza could have the same.
-
Yep, agree with that. It's not a game for that back 3. Needed a back 4 with an extra man in midfield for me. There's no press either, and there press is stifling us when we have a bit of possession.
-
I've just seen it again at full speed. Fair points lads, Forster couldn't do much about that.
-
Prowse was shite which didn't help. After the header, Forster pushed Cork away, got himself set, then stood there.
-
Indeed, each to own. He'd been brilliant, but for me, he could have done better there although fair to say the defence let him down, again.
