I don't think that there's any prospect of Gaston playing anywhere bar the 10 position under MP. If fit, he'll play there in every game. I reckin Adkins benching of Gaston, and his playing him "out of position", were the beginning of the end for him. It's the wide area where any shock will come. MP likes to blood youth and Cortese expects that. Our squad (bench in particular) will evolve throughout the season imo. Chambers, Reeves, Stephens, JWP and perhaps someone from leftfield will come to the fore.

I have no opinion on whether Cortese has an ego problem. That's the issue with MLT. None of us know Cortese's actual ambitions and goals. His ambition under Adkins appeared to be promotion. Who knows what it is under MP. Why compare Cortese and Piers Morgan?!? One is a media whore who has spent his working life in the public domain and can expect to be judged, the other hasn't.

Nonsense. You can't judge a persons motivations, ambitions, ethos, rationale, etc etc without knowing or understanding them. MLT doesn't know cortese. I don't, you don't and nor do others on here. We all make snap judgements though. They're all based on the decisions that we know of, and the tittle tattle we here. MLT is no better placed to make an accurate assessment than me or you.

Yes, he'll know they're footballers and will know about as much as we all can gauge from watching players on video and YouTube. De Ridder looked sh!t hot on video but looks plain sh!t in the flesh, for example. Ok, he'll know something about some of our players. He'll have watched videos of matches, and possibly training, but he won't know the players. He'll struggle to put names to all faces. He won't know their personalities, how able they are to act on instructions etc etc. Moreover he won't have a rapport with them and is unlikely to have earned their respect. His record in Spain was decent before his players were sold. His teams playing style was very good. There's no doubt he's got pedigree. Language worries me though, a lot. Subject to that, this could be a very good (but appallingly executed) move.

The chances have increased. The players will have to adapt to new ideas and probably systems. That will take time. I fear we'll regress in the short term, beyond that who knows. I think we'll become predictable. Gaston will play in the hole come rain or shine. No more 442 with CB' s at full back where height and muscle needed.
