  1. Well I did make similar offer a couple of seasons ago when certain posters said it was a certainty that we would sign Hooper. Done deal and all that ! In fact I offered to implode.
  2. I see your point, but on the other hand if people have a different point of view, that does not fit in with the general trend they get a whole load of abuse as well. No wonder that people give up or fight hard to defend their corner. They are thencalled 'trolls' which is very unfair.

  4. If this happened it would shut me up for a month.
  5. Hahah, but we have had some belters over the time. I am not sure that we have a bigger archive than similar sized clubs, but yep we have had some belters. Then again, the Keegan signing was probably the greatest surprise in modern football.
  6. Surely it is time to close this thread and add it to the other 'great summer signings that never happened' history archive.
  7. Think about it. Football has always been about opinions. Without the banter, the game would be dead.
  8. For goodness sake how can you call this trolling. It is great that people have different opinions and the resulting banter is what a forum is all about.
  9. Norwich fans very bouyant up here and I reckon they will do well this season, ie solid mid table.
  10. Yes we did and they paid a realistic price, plus they have Hooper. The Canaries have done very well.
  11. Agreed, as I said before, we along with many of the other clubs just want to stay in the Premier League. The pressure is on staying out the bottom 3, not striving to be in the top 6. In reality I don't think we are a club that are equipped for European football and unless we spend mega bucks I doubt whether we ever will be. The management, owever, can talk about ambition without saying we are aiming for Europe.
  12. I know what you mean. I barely give England a second thought nowadays. You can guarantee the hype and you just know in reality it will be a let down. BTW, cannot understand Chelski obsession with Rooney, who is well past his best IMO.
  13. If that is the case, then you can see why some of the top strikers will not come to Saints or for that matter the likes of Norwich. I think we have to be realistic and go for players that are likely to see us as a good career move. Norwich have known this for a long time and have successfully built good TEAMS with players who are good but have little international expectations but at the same time play for a good solid mid table premier team.
  14. I think the talk of European football was just hype. I would imagine we have one priority. Stay in the Premier League, just like the majority of clubs outside the top 6.
  15. Say what you like. In 2004 we made a very grave error in a failure to appoint an experienced top league manager. Glenn Hoddle was the obvious choice but there were other experienced top flight managers. Sturrock was a needless gamble. I am not in a straight jacket, just stating my point. As history unfolds I am pleased that more people agree with me, but I suppose the vocal minority will hope the whole episode is air brushed out.
  16. An excellent post, but a stirker is a must and we will soon see how much we needed one. I hope you are right that we get one in before the window closes. IMO, Hooper was a steal, we might well see if this is true as our trip to Carrow Road is only weeks away.
  17. You say that, but unless we bring in a striker we may well need him and I still think he could do well in the Premier League.
  18. No. I think they are just going down with no way back up.
  19. I agree with this. The more diverse the views, the more colourful the forum !
  20. But that is the point. It was obvious towards the end of the season and had to be our top priority. While it made a lot of people excited to think that we would be buying a top striker from Europe, maybe it was unrealistic to expect. After we are a club that has yet to establish itself in the Premier League. A target like Hooper would have been much more possible. Norwich seem to have got it right and we are left hanging in the wind.
  21. I have been in battle for the last 13 years. My fight to get some to admit the failure to appoint Hoddle in 2004 continues on a weekly basis.
  22. Outstanding post, in fact post of the week !
  23. The reason is because people got taken in by the propaganda of May and early June, including, surprisingly, Alpine !
  24. I would say I was one of the most realistic posters on this forum !
  25. Bedwetter ? I would say we are realistic. Your hands must be very red from all that clapping you are doing.
