and I am pretty sure that was the profile of fan that barracked the idea of Hoddle returning in 2004. The more astute fan could see that Hoddle was by far the best option in steadying the ship and starting the necessary re-build.

2003 was the high water mark and we then needed to appoint someone like Hoddle after WGS left to cement our reputation as a growing force but the vocal minority got on their high horse and we appointed a league 1 manager. Ironic in retrospect, considering which direction we were then headed !

Bloody hell Alpine are you some sort of manic depressive ? I never feel the same anxiety with England as with Saints. I love the world cup and am happy to have a presence from England, but never feel the same desperate desire for them to win as when watching Saints.

To be fair, I think Kelvin was a good goalkeeper, but couldn't hand;e the high intensity of the Premier league. Boruc has that lovely touch of arrognace, commanding the box, instills confidence in his defence and defiance of the opposition forwards. ALL good teams need a good goalkeeper.
