You're making yourself look silly because you're being pedantic over something that really is a non issue. To progress in a cup competition you have to win. I don't care if you're a moderator. You're wrong.
-
Hang on I'll just go to the Johnstones Paint trophy website....oh yeah, it says we won.
-
So why are people questioning the legitimacy of the list and making a do about how it was only a draw? I mean crikey, we're still in the cup that that game was played in, does it really matter it took longer than 90 minutes?
-
Lol I find it amusing that even in good times some people will clutch to the tiniest things to have a moan about something. It's very sad. You're totally right saint_clark
-
No, a league game is over 90 minutes.
-
and Mr Bookmaker will make every rule and condition up he can to avoid paying out. That's his job, to make money. Did we, or did we not go through to the next round?! It's not a case of, ok then, it was a draw but we'll let Southamptom through I suppose cuz they scored more penalties. The game had to be decided that night, and we won that night. WE WON. If Federer wins in a tie break, he wins. If Tiger wins in a playoff, he wins. If an NFL team wins in overtime, they win. A win is a win is a win. If one team progresses while the other team doesn't, they win. That's how it is.

The "tie" is the game though. A cup game has to be decided, you cannot draw, whether over 1 or 2 legs - the game has to be decided. It's not a league game...just because a league game is 90 minutes, doesn't mean the 90 minutes of a cup tie are all that matters. We progressed, Torquay didn't. Therefore we won.
-
Anyone who thinks we didn't beat Torquay to be honest!
-
The argument that we didn't beat Torquay is lame. Did we, or did we not get into the next round after that game? Yes we did is the answer, so we won the game. Cup games aren't always 90 minutes long. It doesn't matter that it took more than 90 minutes. We won, we progressed. If England get to the World Cup final next year and win on penalties, are you going to say we didn't win the World Cup?

Blame culture coming out to play again. I sit half way between the goal at the Northam end and the half way line, and in the secon half I'm looking from behind the midfield up to the forwards, and when we won the ball and got the ball in space, Papa right ran into space and set off, and the ball didn't come early enough. Lambert doesn't get caught offside because he generally drops off to receive the ball. Papa needs it over the top, and he isn't getting it. Or if he does get it, it's only after a few short passes, at which point he's already made his run, which mead he has to come back, making him ineffective, or he's caught offside. It's the way the team plays that is the major reason he's caught offside so much. Thing is, do we adapt to make him more effective or do we change his game. I think we need a bit of both. We need to win the ball and deliver it early. That way he won't be offside anywhere near as much.
-
Watch the way the attack is developing just before he gets offside though. We get the ball in the middle of the park, he makes a good run, the ball is delayed, THEN played to him. It's as much the other players' fault for a) delaying the pass, and b) then playing him the ball, knowing he's offside cuz he made an early run. After a couple of offsides and the people around me started giving him stick, I really had a good look at it. He's used to playing at a higher level, and he simply thinks quicker than the other players in our squad. He must be so frustrated to be fair.
-
Is it me or does he seem to have some pace now?!
-
Can't disagree with any of that!
-
Or even Reading's striker
-
I actually don't think it's entirely his fault. I think he thinks quicker than a lot of our players. We get the ball in midfield and defence and pass it sideways out to the wings. If, when we picked the ball up in the middle of the park, played the ball quickly and straight over the top, he would have been onside and clear in on goal. I was watching him making runs, and the ball wasn't played to him early enough.
-
Yeah there was something not right with him tonight, seemed very laboured. I'm wondering if it's not so much a knock, but all the extra fitness training he's been doing, plus playing every minute of every game it seems....maybe he's just knackered. Maybe Pards has said he needs him to stick with it until Jan, then when we get some cover in, he might be able to give him a bit of a rest. Need a backup target man.

If you're coming down the M3 the traffic is pretty bad....there was an accident earlier near Winchester and it was closed but apparently still very slow. I'm setting off from Basingstoke now just to make sure I'm not late. Just give yourself some extra time if you're coming down in that direction. COYR!
-
It is going to be FREEZING! And we'll win 3-1.
-
Well if they do I'll want my fiver back. You don't pay money for something that you later get taken away from you. Especially when it's a forum for crying out loud. Like I said in the infraction thread on TMS, we have a right to freedom of speech...why should we pay a fiver to have that right taken away from us? It's not like I've been racist or anything that I could be prosecuted for.
-
Can I buy one before the last day of the season in case we're on the brink of the playoffs?
-
Yes you are obsessed! It's ok though :smt008
-
It was Northampton
-
Well of course I would, cuz it's true.
