Between you and me, I wasn't that impressed with Martin Butcher, although to be fair I'm a bit fussy with my coaches. The coach I've worked with since I was 13 lives in California now, so I've tried to find someone over here to look after me during the season, but nobody is anywhere near as good as my coach. I'm flying out to see him on Monday actually. He moved out there 8 years ago cuz he was working with Stephen Ames, and he wanted him with him on tour all the time.

I don't know the area very well to be fair - only where my bird's house is. Ya go over the roundabout where the VW garage is, there's a set of traffic lights, you go through them towards Botley, and turn left at the next roundabout....
-
The development that, as you drive in, there's a big playground on the left, and the first house you see is a big white 3 storey house? (And an awful speed bump/crossing in front of it?)

I'm 26.....and had a very good education. Idiot. You strike me as someone who never had many friends when you were young and probably have even less now. "Teacher, teacher, Will keeps bullying meeeeee!". Drip.

I think I've been to that place at the Rose Bowl, to see Martin Butcher, one of the pros there who does golf biomechanics. The range isn't good enough there really. All I really need at a golf course (if I move down there) is somewhere with a good course and good chipping and putting greens. Cuz I can hit balls at hedge end driving range. Botley is just round the corner from where my girlfriend lives (she lives in that new development hidden round the back there), so that'd be convenient...

So I might be moving down to Southampton (Hedge End)....where would be the best place to base myself? I heard Stoneham is the best place in Southampton - what do you think?
-
Do tell!! Isn't Hockley that place that is on the top of the hill near Winchester? It looks a horrible place to play when the weather is bad!
-
Big tip....if you've got 160/170 yards, don't hit an 8 iron, even if you can hit it that far..hit a smoother 7 or 6 iron...you'll hit it straighter and more consistent.
-
Have you never heard the expression "beware of the injured golfer"?! No handicap increases for you!
-
I'd be up for helping arrange something - in fact a friend of mine runs a company that does golf days. Would be a good laugh. I'll come down as someone else's username and play off 8 if that's cool ;-)

Lol I find it amusing when amateur golfers say they hit it 350 when they hit it good and mostly over 300 yards. Tiger Woods averaged 298.4 yards this season. The stats are a bit inaccurate because he'll hit 3 wood or an iron sometimes, but still. I'm not the longest hitter on the tours I play on, but one of the longest, and if I'm swinging the club well, I'll hit a good, solid drive on the flat, with no wind, about 305. Because of conditions, I've hit one 450 this season, but I've also hit one 235. No offence, I'm not having a dig - I just find it funny! I worked in a golf shop with a launch monitor when I was a kid - guys would come in saying they hit it 300, then I'd put them on the launch monitor and their swing speed would be about 90 and they'd hit it 230.

Excellent post. Shame some people on here aren't so grateful. I'd shake your hand if I could. I wonder how many of the whinge bags will come on this thread and say "I agree" without saying "yeah but" or just in response to someone calling them out. Like I said, excellent post, you're completely right, and I'm so glad there are still supporters like you still around.

Awww, Alpine is feeling bullied by someone half his age....bless.
-
Yeah but I'm pretty certain that the teams you mentioned have a much stronger behind the scenes structure than we had before Pardew became manager. He's had to basically rebuild EVERYTHING in the club - scouting, coaching, academy....the list goes on.
-
I think the performances show he is the man to take us forward. First you learn to hit the ball straight, then you learn to shape your ball, get up and down better, hole more putts. Apart from yesterday, we've shown we've improved drastically in defense - the only thing is scoring more goals. We created more chances from open play yesterday than we have all season. We're getting there - we will get there. Maybe it's just me, but I try to come away from every game and see what we've done well. If you look at it that way, you can see we're going in the right direction.

Sacking the manager ISN'T that answer though. It really isn't. Let's put this is terms that you and I both understand. Faldo worked with Leadbetter to change his technique so he was good enough to win majors. It took him 2 years to see the benefits. I'm not saying Pardew will need 2 years, and in that time we'll get relegated, but the truth is, new coach, a few new players, a new system, a new way of training...lot's of new things. It will take time for the new things to have effect, because the old things were so terrible. If we change the manager, there will be a whole load of new things, and we'll have to start all over again.

Answer the question....come on, if the next guy comes in and we get 9 points from 10 games, what next. Really. What next?
-
Stevo, I think you're being a bit irrational to be fair. No disrespect.
-
OK, let's just say that happens, and they get 9 points in their first 10 games. Then what?
-
Alpine.......through a new and innovative webcam coaching system.
-
+2 that!
-
Very, very true. That 15 minutes was unbelievable.....we were camped in their half.
-
Well having witnessed your very stable personality, I'm surprised you're still with us to be fair

LOL I'm about the most non-religious person on this planet. Don't get me started on that one!! It's been 2 months since the new regime took over. Who care about the last 4 years or 50 years. It's a brand new start. Brand new.
