  1. Mental... http://www.hullcityafc.net/page/NewsDetail/0,,10338~2763981,00.html He was sacked for questioning the clubs transfer policy, as he didn't feel he had all the funds made available to him to push into the top 6. So even though he's done a decent job for them as manager, they've sacked him based on a non-reason. Who is the favourite to take over? The guy that has no problems with transfer policy's - billy Davies.
  2. This is what happens when you have mad foreigners taking over football clubs. Look at Blackburn for another example. We're pretty lucky in that respect!
  3. What Asian income? If you're talking about a few Japanese people buying our shirts because of Chun, then that's a relative dip in the pacific ocean.... And we don't have much debt, but to get CL football within 5 years we will need to rack up an extraordinary amount of debt. That doesn't fit in with the sustainable model that Cortese is pushing.
  4. Whats wrong with them? I think they're decent pundits. I'm looking forward to being 'analyzed' by Garry Neville though, after a shaky start he has been a revelation and a massive step up from Andy Gray.
  5. Yeah, they do look warn out. They've had a pretty busy season to say the least! They did have Doyle in goal for the first leg didn't they? What's happened to Boaz Myhill? I think he's one of the better keepers at this level. Doyle is **** though, i'll give you that.
  6. To be fair, Norwich or Swansea had little to no premiership experience in their squad. Alot is made of 'Premiership experience' - but at the end of the day, it's still about putting the ball into the back of the net and keeping it out at the other end, the same as in all the leagues. I would like to see us continue with our policy of looking at young British up and coming talent. Take 2 examples from last year, Norwich signed Pilkington and Bennett from League 1 - they'd never played in the Championship before, let alone the premiership - but they still had the quality, that doesn't go away when you move up the level. They are just hungry young players who want to make a name for themselves, that will get us more success than looking for experienced premiership has beens IMO.
  7. Absolutely. The contracts Modric and Van Der Vaart are on will be beyond anything we'd ever hand out. It's fair dreaming and it's nice to think of what's possible in the future, but this really isn't with our club. We're talking decades and a continuing development of our youth players to replicate the players Spurs pay £20m for. And we'd probably end up losing our better youth players too if they were 'that' good. Saint is our club and we all love it, but we're never going to compete with the best in England. It's fantasy and other fans would cringe reading some of the stuff on here.
  8. When our owners invest £500m-1b then I'll start to believe, until then it is and always will be a pipe dream. I don't think it's fair saying 'Mongs' either. I think what the majority of us hold is a realistic and fair view of the short-term...anything else is embarrassing fantasy land.
  9. I've always seen him as a player that slows down and restricts the teams attack. He doesn't score many either. Not sure what he does to be fair.
  10. The only play worth looking at is Hoilett, the rest aren't great. The problem is that bigger clubs will get him before us. Not sure what you've seen in Goodwillie to recommend him???????
  11. and that.
  12. It's the same plan that HelpMeRhonda drafted up a few years ago, it included a fairground and water park.
  13. The fact that you're resorting to remarks says it all.
  14. Di Santo is an odd one, I think he's got great technique but is not a natrual finisher. 6 goals this year equals his best ever goal scoring season, which says it all. Not sure where you could play him to be honest...as a winger?
  15. This thread is going from mental to insane. No one knows what will happen in 10/20 years time, but in the short-term - which is what most of us are trying to say - we will be no where near the top 4, no where near. There's ambition and there's realism. For us to be in the top 4 in the short term we will need to get ourselves into the ****, which we won't be able to do anyway with the FPP. We're not big enough to generate the income to compete at the level with Newcastle, Everton, Liverpool etc. Give it a couple of decades of sustained premiership football, and our good young players coming through the system, then we may have a different debate. It's just insane to even contemplate it now. First and foremost we stay in the league next year, that's the target and should be the target. Anything else above bottom half mid-table is a bonus as far as I'm concerned and will equal a great season. Steady as she goes etc...
  16. He's pants, can't stand him. He played there with Derby didn't he? and scored all of 1 goal, brilliant. Pretty useless player and not worth the big wage he supposedly demands.
  17. As long as he gets the service, he will continue to score goals. He's a goal scorer, he has that knack, and that doesn't disapear at whatever level you play.
  18. He's been **** for a while now. He was outclassed in the middle by Noble and Nolan, don't think he'd massively improve us if I'm honest. and WHU have this sewn up as long as they turn up in the final, I cannot see past them. They've got momentum, the better players and the confidence. If they don't join us then it's a royal cockup in the final.
  19. They're neat and tidy, but pretty useless in the final third. If they could get themselves a proper centre forward in the summer that could hit them 20 goals, they'd be laughing. Blackburn though, holy ****. What a pile of dross.
  20. Unless someone invests half a billion in players, then it won't happen. Whatever happens, it's not a short-term goal. Long-term...who knows, and we're talking decades time.
  21. "Congratulations to Cardiff on another successful campaign in their annual battle against promotion."
  22. I don't think they've necessarily been dreadful, West ham are simply too good for them. They look a league apart, and there's not much Cardiff can do.
  23. 2-0 now. They're just too good for Cardiff, nothing much they can do. They're too strong, physical and powerful. They just need to keep the score down now, bit annoying cause I wanted this to be a bit of a contest but it's going to be a pretty dross 45mins.
  24. To be fair, we kind of have something similar hanging off of the TV Gantry - 'Together we stand'
  25. We don't really. We're owend by the Estate of Markus, there is some funding there to use, but we're not really run by billionaires. We are being run sustainably with the long-term ambition of fielding our youth team prospects. I wouldn't have thought it's ever been in the remit to spend £50m on players.
