Heskey was always the safe option though, Zamora has been fantastic this season but he's never proven himself at international level, which makes it quite a big gamble when you're basing a decision on 2 friendly matches prior to the tournament. I'm pleased to see Parker and Huddlestone included, they've both had fantastic seasons and it would have been wrong if Hargreaves was included in front of them. It's good to see some really good wide players included too - that's been our problem in past tournaments, now we have players like Lennon/Johnson/Cole/Theo etc - who can all offer decent width. (I’m sounding like derry here...) Possible question mark over SWP - Maybe young deserved a chance ahead of him? he's had a decent season and SWP has been hit and miss for me. Overall - not a bad squad tbh. Will be interesting to see what the final squad turns out to be.

Wouldn't suprise me - they are being run by the same two guys who said ''we're financialy in a mess'' then 1 week later come out and say ''we want to spend 100,000 p/w on a striker'' !
-
Wasn't the story a while back suggesting that Pard's would only be appointed if they were relegated? i can see them going for a ''bigger'' name myself. They'll want to make a big statement imo.
-
this has really all been started by NC though, and his comments about us not doing well enough in the league, and the pretty clear message that it's play-offs or bust.
-
what on earth is NC playing at. nut job.
-
there's something going on nick, however you dress it up - this isn't just mindless rumours anymore. we'll have a new manager by next week IMO.
-
Welcome to QPR.
-
who needs torres? he wouldn't score more than 10 in this league
-
Messi has something like 45/46 goals in all comps - unreal.
-
John Gorman as his assistant too. seems like they're cutting costs...you know what happens when you go for the cheap option... maybe we can beat them 4 times next year too.
-
it would just unsettle the entire club and it's a change that we really do not need. It would still take hugue offers, but it would throw some players futures in the air if Pard's did come sniffing. i just want to enjoy the world cup and forget about saints until july!
-
You can guarantee that Pard's would walk straight into a new job and come knocking for our players straight away. it would just mean this season has been a total pointless waste of time.
-
Lescott...? he 'should' be fit for the world cup, still a gamble due to his fitness though,
-
I think 99% of the fanbase support Pardew and want him to stay, but it doesn't look like NC shares the same views. Don't get me wrong - i'm pleased with what NC has done and how he's contributed in moving this club forward, but he is starting to bug me a little bit.
-
That comment came from Adam Blackmore on Solent, after speaking with a 'close' representative of Markus in the directors suite on Saturday.
-
totally spot on, at the end of the day all of this uncertainty was brought on by NC's comments back in February, so he's going to have to end this - and im starting to believe it will be with Pard's sacking.
-
Somethings going on, too many noises to suggest otherwise. Bizarre.
-
Wigan are really a pointless club tbh, i'd hate to be one of their few supporters. In time they'll be back in the lower leagues, days like today prove that they are way out of their depth.
-
even if he did come back into the frame, i wouldn't take him. he has been abysmal for liverpool this season.
-
GK - James, Hart, Green RB - Neville, Johnson LB - Cole, Baines CB - Terry, Rio (Dawson if not fit) , King, Upson CM - Parker (barry if fit), Carrick, Lampard, Gerrard LM - J Cole, A Johnson RM - Lennon, Milner ST - Rooney, Defoe, Crouch, Heskey
-
some or our fans are complete and utter mongs, they have to find something to moan about.
-
opposition wouldn't even get near him in this league, due to his movement and pace - so it's rare he'd get fouled anyway. he'd push for 40+ goals at this level. why am i even debating this?....
-
If it's true, then it must be down to something that has happened behind the scenes that none of us are aware of. I cannot see him being unhappy at our ''Performance'' this season, because if he is it kind of deems his opening statement pointless. ''we need to take time, it will be a slow progression'' - or something along those lines. He looked very happy when he was at Wembley, and took time out to speak to Pards for a little bit up in the royal box. Although at the end of the day it could be as simple as him not being able to fly because of the ash...

I was expecting that to be paraded tbh - but maybe they haven't supplied us with a replica yet? who knows, but it did feel like a kind of low-key lap.

''Over the years i've been supporting the Albion there's been a few special players that just make you smile when they've got the ball and do something special, but Calderon tops them all. Absolutely love watching him play football, i think he's the most exciting player i've seen in the Stripes, so composed on and off the ball, plenty of flair, watching his performances he loves playing with the ball to feet and just does it all with consummate ease. The goal against Charlton was just superb. Honestly hope he's still here for a few years to come.'' good stuff
