  1. This thread could sum up the transfer window in general, other than Man City - there has simply been very little going on. It's a tricky market this year but it'll open up in the next few weeks as we see clubs go for their panic signings. Let's hope we really get who we want, i'm prepared to wait and i do trust what they're doing - they did enough last season to earn that trust.
  2. never bet on us
  3. Agree with people - the width wasn't a problem, the issue was the lack of presence up front in the absence of lambert. We do still need a bit of pace on the bench so we can change the game though.
  4. There was an odd atmosphere around the place today, excitement, anticipation....but also quite alot of apprehension. But here we go again, another long campaign and off to our usual slow starts. The game it's self was pretty poor, in the first half we passed the ball well, played at a very high tempo and were camped in their half for the majority of it, but we really lacked a presence up front without Rickie. Connolly and Barnard tried their hardest, but Plymouth's defenders were beasts and as the game went on their defenders had our forwards sussed and we didn't really have the ability to change it. I thought Dickson looked bright, a really really good left foot on him and some of his crossing in the first half was sublime - there was just no one on the end of it unfortunately. The 2nd half started as it meant to go on unfortunately, their goal came from poor defensive play from us - they won a header when they shouldn't have, and then harding totally misjudged the bounce and summerfrield was the quickest to react. We really lacked urgency though, the tempo dropped and Plymouth came more into the game, this seemed to be more from us panicking and making the wrong decisions. Lallana came on and looked bright, but as was with the rest of the game - we lacked that real presence up front and couldn't really change the game. The priority for Pardew has to be to bring pace and power into this team ASAP. Overall i saw enough in the first half to suggest that with lambo playing, we'll win alot of games, plymouth weren't able to handle our movement at times - it's just a shame we didn't carry that on for the entire game. It's always nice to start the season unbeaten, i'd have taken a draw - it gives you a platform, a defeat paints a different picture with an away game next and already that has become a must win for pardew. He can't afford too many more of these results in the first 10 games, otherwise he'll be hanging by a thread.
  5. I took that as meaning Lallana though, as he is our ITK lallana guy.
  6. apparently the bid we made for him was rejected earlier today.
  7. he's not really getting the help around him though. Elliott ward has also looked particularly dodgy, someone we pretty much had signed.
  8. Looks like Norwich think the season starts tomorrow.
  9. It's crazy that we have a keeper of his quality as a backup. brilliant news though, was getting a bit worried that we hadn't heard anything.
  10. That's quality.
  11. for being skate ****s, should come with a compulsorily 25 pt deduction.
  12. according to some Reading fans, we have indeed bid 500k for Antonio. i doubt we'll get both though, surely it's 1 or the other?
  13. ****s. That's all there is to say. watch them now go out of admin, start buying players and win promotion. For all the utter ******** that they have done over the last few years, they have just been given help and support all the way. Sick
  14. Great thread pilchards - nice job
  15. quite worried tbh, this injury isn't going away...
  16. I think in the main, he spent his budget in January, they did release a big kitty for him to use for the likes of Punch, Fonte, Seaborne, Barnard - bids for Stock/Danns/Ward etc. We'll probably get in a couple of loans, but i have a hunch that the players were interested in either cost too much in fee or wages and Nicola is not budging on it.
  17. ....but it's not working yet. Lots of errors coming up.
  18. Decent idea this, especially for the people who are unable to get to the matches as regularly they like. There are always requests on here after games for people after a programme. Doesn't really affect me as i often buy the programmes at the ground, but i can see this being a very popular service overall.
  19. Kind of feel the same too, i'm actually a bit apprehensive for the entire season. I really want us to do well and believe we have the tools to do so, but then so did leeds the past 3 seasons and they never looked convincing. They only just made it this year. I just can't wait for the opening few weeks to be done with so we can get a sense of the potential season. It's important to have a good start, but i don't think you can read too much until after 6 or so games - the table is a bit of a mish mash before then.
  20. The opening statement sums up the clueless nature of your posts. Just over-reacting certain points to exaggerate your opinion. Dickson agreed to join in May/June, Butterflied and Richardson joined during the first week or so of pre-season.
  21. Matthew: We're going to pause live coverage until something happens at the High Court. Any updates will be posted here and on Twitter. boooo
