  1. worst ref. for a long long time, in the first half you had to wonder if he'd been plucked out of the street or something. 2nd half he improved a bit (not hard...!) but he really did have a stinker today, no getting away from that. glad it didn't cost us!
  2. Great result. First half we were brilliant, should have gone in at least 2-0 up (Barnard with a free header, Punch hitting the post) 2nd half leeds came out and upped it a bit, as you'd expect, but they played very little football which sucked the life out of the game. To be honest most of the balls they played into the box were easy pickings for the outstanding pair of Fonte and Jaidi - i cannot pick a MOTM between those 2, they both get to share it. Leeds surprised me, they were pretty poor - played very little football, and why a premiership club would want to sign beckford is beyond me - looked very poor, and was only interested in diving most of the time. and what on earth has happened to Mcshefery! i remember when he took the **** when he was playing for Brum against us a few seasons ago, looks a shadow of that player. Final note on the ref, who was completely shocking first half. If he's dropped down a league to ref this match, then the standard of refering above is pretty poor. At least he didn't have a clanger which cost us the win though, all in all a happy night - not a great result day in terms of the other teams, but we're still on for a very decent 8th - 10th placed finish.
  3. Not going to happen unfortunately, if we were going to break in we needed to win when the others slipped up. (they've not done that much this season) but they all did when we lost to tranmere....so that was where it ended for me.
  4. they can easily push the capacity up to 45k (according to minimee's designs on this thread) and im sure a little bit of Markus's cash can buy up the industrial and salt work areas
  5. let's just wait and see what he's actually said before we start saying things like that. it was like a 5 second snippet on solent, i didn't' hear it - and not many others did. Perhaps having it played out in context today will put a better picture to it.
  6. the support is here, if we are winning games most weeks we will sell out, or come close to selling out. As has been shown in L1 this season.... the MK Dons JPT game...highest ever semi final attendance. I think cortese recognises that the support is here. I've always imagined a stadium extension could be on the cards (esp. after the plans for staplewood) - not too sure how I'd like a re-location though, seems a bit radical when there is alot that can be done with the current site.
  7. can we resurrect HelpMeRhonda's designs? we can forward them onto Cortese it's the only way forward.
  8. it'll be interesting to actually hear what Cortese has to say tomorrow, when it's played out in full. - possibly when there is a bit more context to it! If he can come up with those ambitious plans for staplewood, then I'm sure he's also looking at stadium development. I'm not pivvy to the situation with the buildings around the stadium, but the salt works opposite the entrance would present a fantastic opportunity to buy up and build a waterfront area. same with the industrial buildings around the chapel side - could look much better than it does atm. heck, paint the gas container red and white too
  9. Fonte only has 2 yellows according to the OS? and it doesn't matter anyway, as it takes up to 10 bookings to now get a suspension.
  10. haven't they got to beat Fulham yet?
  11. Difference with Zamora is that he was 19/20 at the time he went to spurs, so had time on his side to develop into a decent premiership player. Lambo has missed the boat in that sense, i honestly cannot see a current prem club ever buying him for the money we'd want for him. If he was available on a free or for a snip - it might interest some, but he's not - he'd cost a big fee.
  12. i remember that, and the media tried to paint that as us being in the wrong ''southampton fans goaded the leeds fans at the final whistle, by celebrating hulls late equaliser'' errr we celebrated it because it was against Stoke, and it was a fantastic result for our playoff push!
  13. If we started the season in October, we would be in or around the top 3/4 teams right now. The reason we are so far off is because of the -10 and the failure to win in our first 10 games. Our form since October has been at least play-off form and that has been since Pard's has had his team together. I agree that results at Exeter and Brentford have been disappointing, but a ''new'' team will always have a blip during a season, the reality is that we could not afford to have a single blip if we wanted to make real headway - that wasn't realistic IMO. Next season will be a different story, for one - I expect automatic promotion, anything else will be a massive failure.
  14. gutted for drew, it's been a complete disaster for him with wolves. he would have stayed here if he had the choice.
  15. It's all about perspective; we're in this league because of the mismanagement that has gone on before. It's not great being this low down, but there is nothing we can do about it right now - so why don't we just try to accept and enjoy it for now? We’ll be back up before long Personally I am enjoying seeing us win games, defeats have become all too common in the last few seasons and whatever league we're in, it's nice to see us winning games. Promotion was always a long-shot this season and I am a bit surprised at people’s apparent strops because we've missed out on the playoffs. I'm happy that we have even been talking about the possibility! If we go back to the start of the season, I’d say a good 60% of people would have taken a mid-table finish this year. I think I was one of the few that actually thought we'd do ok and finish 8th - 10th (that would equal a good season IMO) and we're on course for that. I just wish people would take time to look at the bigger picture before stamping their feet because we lost 1 game, that's 1 game lost since the 28th December. If people cannot see the improvement that we are making all across the board then they are being blinded by their own agendas, but in my book we're well on course and we are performing well enough now to be in the automatic race next year. Just enjoy the rest of the season - it's been a while since we've been able to put our feet up at the end of a season!
  16. +1 !
  17. Why on earth would he (or anyone for that matter) want to go to Hull? and Hull are close to admin and will certainly go into it if they get relegated - so no idea where they'll get the money from. Don't worry about losing lambo, he isn't going anywhere.
  18. just thought I'd have a quick look on the Leeds forum to see what they think of next weekend, and my god...it's like wrist slashing galore. 'grayson out'' ''we are not good enough for L1'' ''get rid of Beckford and Howson'' ''we were stupid not getting rid of beckford when we could have got money for him'' and i thought some of our fans were mentalist!
  19. Cortese strikes me as quite an impatient and stubborn guy though, esp. with his reactions to the echo. At the end of the day he's probably persuaded Markus to release a big wedge of money for L1, on the premise that we'll give the playoffs a good crack, but in reality we never got close.
  20. to have a chance we had to pretty much win all our remaining games, and hope for some slip ups. It ended today. I'm not too bothered about not going up this year, as Pardew has said ''another year of winning will do no harm'' - it should be a great laugh next year. But whether pardew is here to deliver that, is another question all together.
  21. nope, can't use that as a reason today.
  22. but we didn't grab the opportunity to close in, and we won't get another. It's all over now.
  23. i'm more worried about how Cortese will see this, i honestly think Pardew is a dead-man walking tbh.
