  1. The hate Villa fans have for Gerrard is on a similar level to ours for Jones. They universally call him their worst ever manager, and they had Remi Garde. They say his man management is crap, tries to live on his ego and shuts players out who don't agree. Created a toxic dressing room with splits all through it, tactical confusion. There wasn't a good thing he did according to them. Sounds like an avenue we probably don’t want to explore again if it was me making the call.
  2. That's because he doesn't play with wingers, as he is an adopter of the 4-2-2-2 formation. So the wide players come inside, provide the space for the full backs to attack. Pretty common approach in gegenpressing style, as you overload the middle with options to press and stress the oppo in the 'Red Zone' - as Ralph liked to call it. So it's not that he doesn't know how to use wingers, the style he practices doesn't utilise them in the traditional sense.
  3. I think Benitez has had his day. I don't see this squad being in anyway suited to his pragmatic defensive style either, would be a weird appointment as much as Jones was in my opinon. I don't know what Schreuder has ever achieved in management to be that highly regarded, he was pretty dreadful at Ajax - looks like he's going to Leeds anyway.
  4. Who would you go for out of interest? What avaliable manager do you think could keep us up?
  5. What Jesse Marsch will bring to Leeds United – The MastermindSite Jesse Marsch – RB Salzburg – Tactical Analysis – The MastermindSite
  6. Former FC Midtyland manager isn't he? (when Rasmus was chairman, and they beat us). Selles was also his assistant at FC Kobenhaven. Lots of obvious connections there, just feels a bit too obvious for me. We'd have gone for him before if we were keen, as he was free when we sacked Ralph.
  7. That's one of the big takeaways from Jones tenure for me, contradictions everywhere.
  8. Leaving us with some pearls of wisdom here - So he recalls Bednarek.........yeah, right.
  9. Marsch will irritate many, I'm sure, but compared to Jones he's light and day. He comes from the RB way of doing things, initially manager at NY Red Bulls, won honours there, got his move to another RB group club in Salzburg, and also won honours there. He then got the 'big job' at Lipzig, but it didn't go to plan there and by all accounts their fans felt the club stitched him up and they'd have liked to have seen him given longer. Throughout all of those clubs he has followed his principles by playing a very similar 4-2-2-2 /4-3-2-1, gengenpress style. In many ways a full disciple of the Ralph/RB approach - for me that's a pretty critical factor to consider. When you hire a manager mid season, outside of a transfer window, you need to be sure they are a fit for the players in the squad. As much as the likes of Nuno and Lage are legitimate options, you could argue that they've got their success from a very disciplined and patient tactical approach - I'd say those approaches are at odds with the tools we have in this squad. That's why Marsch makes some sense, there is a squad of players in the building vested in the way he wants to play and they bought into it under a previous manager. In the position we are in beggars can't be choosers, and this is a reason why I felt we may hold fire and see what is available in the summer - but if Marsch is up for a short-term and long-term view, and is willing to be part of a strategic rebuild in the Championship, then I think there could be many worse choices. I'm not totally against this one if it happens. I can actually see the logic behind it, which I couldn't see when Jones was appointed.
  10. I thought hotsaint would have posted on here, they've gone quiet. It's almost like they're not employed at the club anymore.
  11. It's Leeds who wanted him, not particularly Marsch. He was also on the list when Bielsa was manager, who wanted him strongly.
  12. It's what I was told by someone at SMS who I don't believe would make it up, so just putting it out there.
  13. Remember when there was chat a while back, when they were talking about Ralph being consulted about who should 'replace him', and Martin came out and said one of the people on 'our list' has actually turned up at another job this week? That was Marsch. It is almost certainly a long-standing interest, most likely because of the links with the RB Model.
  14. I think we've already gone beyond the point of 'shit' !
  15. JWP needs to answer a lot of questions IMO. He is one of the only consistent faces in the group which has lost two games 9-0, collapsed in many other games and has captained the team to have the worst season in our history. I'm not discounting his ability, as his free kicks and technical ability on the ball is top draw - but as an on field leader I think he's been a disgrace, he's led us through a period where we simply have no backbone. I can't imagine captains of the past letting the situation get like this (Fonte/Hammond/VVD etc). He is out of his depth as a captain of this group in my opinion.
  16. I don't see how. We've just had our best run of the season (in terms of attainable fixtures). That's in the bin now, lost 90% of them. We have to play Arsenal, Man Utd, Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs, Newcastle and we need to be winning a couple of those games and every other home game to stand any chance. We are rooted to the bottom of the league and require 2 wins to even lift ourselves off of the bottom. It's not salvageable, even for the most optimistic coach. Happy to say when people are being daft about relegation (i.e. when we have 26 points at this stage), but we need to look at this situation now with a sense of realism. There should be no expectation for any new manager to keep us up, if they do it's a huge unexpected bonus.
  17. Or Brentford, or Wolves, or Villa or Brighton. Never mind. So many 'winnable' games (in fact most) thrown in the bin.
  18. That puts you at the top of the list for any potential new addition to the backroom staff Derry. Give Rasmus a call, given he appointed the previous coaches without badges then you should be a shoe in!
  19. He was actually pretty much at the top of the odds list as soon as we got rid of Ralph, so there was some knowledge in our plan with him. We appointed him 24 hrs after sacking Ralph so it was obviously well advanced.
  20. The wolves changes happened at HT, which is where the game was won. They reorganised the side and kept their width, even with 10 men. Their manager made a bold change tactically which enabled them to control the midfield and still provide a threat through Traore. We did what we usually do - go out in the second half and do more of the same, ignorant to the fact that the opposing manager has changed it so we won't be able to do the same. Then when we did make changes, it became an utter rabble of disorganised chaos. I had no idea what we were playing at the end, I doubt the players did either.
  21. If Poch hadn't managed us, suggesting him is the equivalent of suggesting Zinedine Zidane or Thomas Tuchel - total non-starters. We rightly laugh at Everton fans for their summer ambitions for signing Mydrik and Isak - this is the equivalent.
  22. They showed the second half stats on MOTD last night, with 10 men Wolves had more touches in our box, more possession and more forward passes. They outnumbered us on several attacking moves, and for a team with one less outfield player, that is shambolic of the highest order.
  23. Some additional names on the betfair odds, although I'm not sure how out of date they are given that Dominico has just become Belgium manager. Marcelo Bielsa 7/2 Ralph Hasenhuttl 6/1 Nuno Espirito Santo 10/1 Rafael Benitez 10/1 Domenico Tedesco 10/1 Steven Gerrard 12/1 Frank Lampard 12/1
  24. I'd suggest it would have been negligent to not have included a clause, given the position we were in when they signed. But given we had a track record of negligent decisions then who knows.
  25. Exactly the sort of player I've wanted us to sign for years, very Allan Saint-Maximin-esque.
